My mistake it's the High Sierra patcher that shows the installer with pc amd cards. Oops!
I should just flash it you're right.
Is it feasible if you implemented the patched 5000/6000 series cards Into the actual usb installer stick for non-efi displaying the installer ?
No, as those cards don't even work under Mojave at all.

Hi,

I just got an iMac 27 'mi 2011, the problematic one with his GPU, he does not do the Mojave thing. (AMD Radeon HD 5xxx / 6xxx series NO GPU acceleration) Do you know if I can "easily" upgrade the graphics card of this iMac?

Thank you for guiding me if possible to a thread that deals with the subject.

Cheers !

All I did was restart my Mac mini 5.1 after having it on for a few days...

Then this happened. I restarted again and the graphics anomalies are still there. Also, my Time Machine drive no longer has the Time Machine icon.

Have you updated to macOS Mojave 10.14.6 if not maybe it installed while you had it on restart into your Mojave patcher and apply the post install patches

I have, and it was working fine until I felt my mini needed a restart. However, I did try re-applying the patches and the same thing happened upon restart.

Edit: I think Nightshift got activated somehow even though it shows as off in the window. I disabled Flux and it seems to be somewhat working, although I had to point Time Machine at my disk again. I also see that you can't see what I see in my screenshot...

Grrr.

Updated to 10.14.6 from USB stick without problems (takes ca 150 min.):
iMac 9.1 (2009) with SSD in the superdrive slot
Macbook Air 4.2 (2011)
Macbook Pro 7.1 (2010)

iMac 8,1
Installed the final 10.14.6 using the latest patcher.
Ran all the necessary patches, setup as APFS, working really well!
Question, when the iMac boots up (cold boot), I get a blank white/grey screen that goes nowhere.
If I instead hold option then I can select "EFI" and it boots normally.
Any fixes for that guys?

PS. The internal SSD is selected correctly as the "startup Disk"

Maybe PRAM reset does the trick.
Sometimes disks that were used in the past as Startup Disk and are no longer connected may still be searched for and causes a delay in starting up.

At all would mean black on the screen..mine works but it flickers from brownish/red to normal. Strange how the older GT 120 512MB holds its colors minus hardware acceleration.

Thanks @McStang, had forgotten to try that. Tried the SMC reset first (no change) then the PRAM reset...so far so good. Time will tell since it's not consistent.

Here is the command for those that have similar issues with the iMac 8,1.

SMC RESET

  • Shut down the computer.
  • Unplug the computer's power cord from both the wall and computer.
  • Wait 15 seconds.
  • Attach the computers power cable.
  • Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.

PRAM RESET

  • Shut down the computer.
  • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  • Turn on the computer.
  • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  • Release the keys.

Now that 10.14.6 Final is out, you guys think that another beta - "10.14.7" will be released? Or is this it for Mojave.

As a side note, I've been testing Catalina as well on my unsupported devices, but for now, my preference is still Mojave.

I am kind of hoping I don't have to do that.
You can reinstall over 10.14.6 without losing your data it should be safe at least in my experience it has

It could be possible maybe shortly after Catalina is released

My Networks settings data gets erased each time i upgrade using the patcher tool. Frustrating because it won't let me Export my settings prior.

@TimothyR734 and @jackluke,

You two have been one of the most active contributors/testers of both Mojave and Catalina on unsupported threads. Do you have any preferences on which OS so far? Thanks.

I really can't choose I am really liking macOS Catalina but Mojave has the things like DashBoard, Photo's and maps work that's why I am keeping macOS Mojave on my MacBook 5,2 and macOS Catalina on my iMac 9,1 the best of both worlds so to speak well at least unless something really change by the GM release of Catalina we are still in Beta so who knows what is going to change throughout the year but its nice to see it working when it looked like it might not be possible on our older Macs that is the fun of it :)
