I installed Catalina to the same container that Mojave APFS is on, and I lost the option to boot Mojave now without running post installer again. Is the proper way to do this is create a seperate partition/container for each OS since I don't have native APFS support?

Yes you need to have a native APFS support in order to install a macOS on a volume under the existing container. Separate partition/container works great, you just need to decide what size you want as there is no space sharing between partitions.

Could you elaborate? Was it the Catalina beta 5 notice or something else?
It looks like wishful thinking on your part—there is no beta 5 release that I can see on either developers' or seed sites.
Sorry. I received a mail from apple, "Try the new iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS public betas" so I thought it was that.

I tried with seperate partition, both APFS. I still only have one EFI boot in my options.

I think I will just go back to HFS for Mojave

Curious could this be why I couldn’t make Boot Camp work?

Personally I had no issues with Bootcamp(Windows 7) when I only had an APFS patch. I was even able to upgrade High Sierra to Mojave(clean install) and still kept my Bootcamp partition intact. It has been awhile and I don't have a Bootcamp on my SSD anymore(I keep it on my original 160GB HDD with Snow Leopard).

I DON’T have the patch (I don’t think) and when I try to set up Bootcamp it hangs trying to create the partition.

actually no... brightness, auto-brightness, night shift... all these things works perfectly
I confirm native brightness control doesn´t work in Macbook Pro 17" late 2011

I can see the intel HD 3000 is not exactly the same.

I also received a mail from them "as a member of... test-driving pre-release versions" where clearly specified in subject "macOS beta", who knows what they are cooking for this Catalina beta 5 , probably today they should release it, or they may slide on next August month early days.

i would start fresh and do a clean install of el captian...Then install os mojave on a unsupported mac..10.14.6 came out a week ago and format it in AFPS...Once you get that far..Partion your hardrive and do a clean install of 10.15 in AFPS format on the #2 partition..And if it still does work you can reboot into 10.14.6 until the final release of 10.15 in ready..hope that helped..that should work...
How would I go back to el captain if I am already on Mojave on my unsupported IMac 12,2 it is the only Mac? All other computers are Windows 10 PCs

When you say Everything works on a Mac mini 3,1
does that INCLUDE Maps and Photo's too, please?

Thank you
I don't use Maps and photos on this machine, it is just a machine for home automation. But I did test it I could get directions but Map background was black no streets. Then it just crashed. Photos crash on load.

I found that my MacMini 3,1 is constantly looking for updates to the OS and never says I am up to date. That is not good. OK I rebooted twice and update is working. This is very buggy. My MacBook Pro 7,1 so far Maps and Photos not working they crash.

Catalina beta build 19A526h , all the main system binaries have the apple compiled date of "Yesterday", I don't remember a so very close compiled date versus release date.

At least 3 days before for their internal testing, instead just one day.
