No, it still has the same anomalies that were present in Mojave. Acceleration works just fine."Full acceleration for older Nvidia and Intel cards has been achieved on Catalina beta 1 to 3."
Does that mean no artefacts on HD3000 unlike Mojave?

Are you remounting the root filesystem as rw before you attempt to run 'sudo trimforce'? That is necessary under Catalina because of the read-only root filesystem.
sudo mount -uw /
sudo trimforce enable

Did you have the machine plugged in when installing? If not, it won't do anything.@dosdude1
Hi,
I applied the patch OfficialAPFSFWUpdater APFS bootroom but didn't noticed any change in the ROM version ! How to check that the installation went well? Where can we check what has changed?

However, can this affect the energy management of the system? Indeed, I feel like no more throthling in my macbook !
Wait and see...
Thank you

when the os catalina is starting and it begins with the country, i reset the computer and let it boot in to usb loader there i apply the patches incl legacy wifi and boot the computer normal without usb, then i get again to the country screen and moved on and it worked.I have the same situation on my unsupported MacBookPro5,3 --- on internal SSD 1st partition Mojave and 2nd partition Catalina.
What did you do this time to fix the WiFi unavailable issue? Thanks.

no i shut down the computer, then when i start i hold alt key and go in to installer en enter the patches, then i shutdown again removed the usb en let it load from hd en configure it after a vieuw questions it aks for the wifi pasword. When you said "reset", did you mean re-install Catalina? I booted into the USB patcher and re-ran the post install. When rebooting back to Catalina, still did not see my WiFi enabled.

yes mojave was no problem at all only catalina sory that it did not workFollowed your steps. Didn't work for me. Still no wifi on either Catalina or Mojave partition boot. Is your Mojave boot running ok as well as having wifi? Appreciate your responses.

You cannot; Catalina requires an APFS volume to function properly.@dosdude1 @0403979 @ASentientBot
I have finally downloaded the Catalina installer (thanks to @******* !) now I need to know if I can install Catalina without losing all my data and formatting my hard drive to afps. Right now my hard drive is macos extended journaled. I want to know if I can keep my hard drive as macos extended journaled.

So, convert it to APFS.You cannot; Catalina requires an APFS volume to function properly.
So, convert it to APFS.
Yes. Through Recovery mode.Is it possible without reformatting the drive?
