Hi,

I applied the patch OfficialAPFSFWUpdater APFS bootroom but didn't noticed any change in the ROM version ! How to check that the installation went well? Where can we check what has changed?

Capture d’écran 2019-08-16 à 15.32.32.jpg

However, can this affect the energy management of the system? Indeed, I feel like no more throthling in my macbook !

Wait and see...
Thank you

Did you have the machine plugged in when installing? If not, it won't do anything.

Use the "APFS Boot" item in System Preferences to change boot volumes.

I have the same situation on my unsupported MacBookPro5,3 --- on internal SSD 1st partition Mojave and 2nd partition Catalina.

What did you do this time to fix the WiFi unavailable issue? Thanks.

Is there a possible way to patch an OfficialAPFSFWUpdater to get it to work say with MacBook5,1 since its hardware is so close to the supported MacBook6,1? Just curious about what actually makes the machine to support APFS booting officially?

Yes it was plugged when I installed the patch. How can I and where can I check what has changed?

When you said "reset", did you mean re-install Catalina? I booted into the USB patcher and re-ran the post install. When rebooting back to Catalina, still did not see my WiFi enabled.

Followed your steps. Didn't work for me. Still no wifi on either Catalina or Mojave partition boot. Is your Mojave boot running ok as well as having wifi? Appreciate your responses.

Perhaps you should try to re-install (from scratch) both Mojave and Catalina using @dosdude1's Mojave Patcher 1.3.3 and Catalina Patcher 1.0.6 respectively? It's worth a try for both, I think.

I have finally downloaded the Catalina installer (thanks to @******* !) now I need to know if I can install Catalina without losing all my data and formatting my hard drive to afps. Right now my hard drive is macos extended journaled. I want to know if I can keep my hard drive as macos extended journaled.

You cannot; Catalina requires an APFS volume to function properly.

Thomas tech;

Best thing to do is to clone your hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner. Then it's okay to use the Catalina installer. YES, dosdude1 is correct that the Catalina hard drive needs to be formatted in the AFPS format. It won't work in any other way. Just to let you know, I cloned my main hard drive from El Capitan. That clone was upgraded to Mohave and converted to the AFPS format. I didn't lose any data from my home folder. Later I cloned the Mohave hard drive and upgraded to the Catalina macOS. Still I didn't anything from my home folder. Just relax.

Hi. I have an old MBP 4.1 which I use as a daily computer, with macOS 10.14.6 in a HFS+ partition.
I would like to try Catalina (Mojave is working flawlessly, but I think that update a machine as more as possible, expecially with Macs, is the best way in order to exploit the hardware in a better way, if the machine isn't required for professional purposes), but I would know if is possible to make a dual boot system without reinstalling Mojave in a APFS partition.
Furthermore, I remember that APFS booting on older machines is noticeably slower than HFS+ one; is possible to obtain a fast boot APFS on the Early 2008 MBP?

MacBook Pro 8.1 - DB5

Airplay icon not showing up in menu bar. Is there a way to fix this?
On Mojave I could stream to my Apple TV. Now the option is gone.

Wifi, bluetooth and maps works fine. Photos get error message:
Missing asset model for version modelId: 1723

On battery the OS is laggy.
With charger plugged in its working fine.

thanks
