For both Mojave and Catalina, you can't mix metal and non-metal cards without breakage of the metal card when the non-metal patches are installed.
For what it's worth, that shouldn't be the case up to 10.14.3, since the non-Metal patches don't replace any system files (they just add kexts to support the older GPUs) until 10.14.4. That's the version that @dosdude1 fixed with OpenGL/GPUSupport frameworks from .3, followed by the fix for .5 with CoreDisplay from .4, followed by the fixes for 10.15 that include all the previous ones, plus SkyLight from 10.14.5 (and shims/wrappers to keep the CoreDisplay/SkyLight interfaces compatible with Catalina's frameworks).

Ideally, we would avoid replacing system files altogether, but this is necessary in order to keep acceleration under OpenGL without some sort of Metal emulator/translation layer.

I am wondering if I am the only one who have DVD player app crashing after the DVD is inserted(DP6)?

Somehow I missed that DVD player app stopped working in Mojave as well. It is actually not working on supported MBP9,2 as well(Catalina). It was surprisingly easy to delete despite being a built-in app. It is not an important app as VLC easily replaces it but I guess it is indicative of some OS changes.

Anybody got AirDrop working on a late 2008 unibody MacBook? It works perfectly in Mojave.

Bluesky2 is superfluous, the Bluesky 1 (latter) works just as well in the DP6 and the files are the same !!

Much worse is the mail app is totally broken. Neither sent messages nor messages that were read are saved. The MaiL app is not to use! Apple is getting sloppier, which apparently does not check beta versions internally or how?

Yikes, that's really bad. Anyone confirmed that this is a beta issue vs. a patch issue?

BlueSky 2? There is only a BlueSky 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2.

Apple Mail seems to be working great on a MacBook5,1. I don't have BlueSky installed if it makes any difference. I have to say that even at this stage Catalina definitely seems to have improvements over Mojave in certain areas.

iMac12,x (systems with AMD Radeon HD 5xxx and 6xxx series GPUs will be almost unusable due to the lack of acceleration)

If you're on a non-Metal system, I would strongly advise you to stay on Mojave unless you absolutely need Cat for some reason. The graphics patches for 10.15 are too unstable for daily use.
Is the experience on Catalina with AMD Radeon HD 5xxx the same as mojave or worse? I have Mojave installed on my Imac 12,2 right now and I honestly think it is fine except for the weird colors so, I just wanted to know if I should expect the same for Catalina or something different

Hi, guys
anyone noticing problems with Bluetooth on macOS upgrading from Mojave to Catalina?

My issues are:
No BT information found on System Reports
"BT Not Available" on menubar icon
BT Pan "Not Connected" (Removing BT Pan and adding it again, it won't connect)
Can't turn BT on
Opening BT File Exchange got a message "No Bluetooth Hardware Found, In order to use this application you must to have a Bluetooth module"

Fixes that I've tried:
SMC, PRAM and NVRAM reset
Deleted Com.Apple Bluetooth.plist
Clean Install Mojave and Catalina as well
Apple Hardware Test " No issues found"

Im on a supported MacBook Pro (13- inch, Nov 2018)
2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
macOS Catalina 10.15 Beta DP6 (19A536g)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Lost Bluetooth also. Ideas?

After latest update (1.0.8 / dev 6) my ati rx 580 boots into black screen. No signal to monitor (checked dvi, DP and hdmi). My old NVidia GT 120 is working. Of course I can't rule out completely that the ATI gave up the ghost. Anybody else with ATI RX cards problems on latest cat beta?

That' all I found in the system report:
Display:

Type: GPU

Bus: PCIe

Slot: Slot-1

PCIe Lane Width: x16

Vendor: AMD (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x67df

Revision ID: 0x00e7

Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded

This happened on DP5 / DP6 to my Radeon RX 580 and Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition on 2009 and 2012 cMP. During installing Catalina the black out. Be patient and Wait for it "for an hour or less", will see the Welcome screen display.

Of course that's a problem .. we are now in the DP6 and it is getting worse with such simple stuff, like the Mail app. That just can not happen in a sixth DP. It is something that was built up in the previous betas, then torn again, what should that be?

It's not ONLY there, the Catalina continues to run on old Mac's and Hackis, you have to be able to work with it, even in a beta version, is my opinion !! And if such an important app as Mail does not work, in today's online world, then it's bad.

@0403979 .. just do not pretend, you probably know exactly that I have Bluesky 1.2 and mistyped me and have written 2 provided.

Ah, thanks. Meanwhile I could reinstall Mojave, and the card works perfectly. I wonder if something happened during install/patching Catalina on a separate(!) disk. I mean, I've never touched my main Mojave system, but in the end, both, Mojave and Catalina were not bootable. ATM, I'm too afraid to try Cat beta again. I need a working Mac for my work. I will wait for a hopefully stable release end of September. And of course, next time I will pull out the Mojave disk before installing Catalina.

Minor issue: strangely from the beginning wired usb keyboard works, but Num Lock & Caps lock led do not light and \ <>
keys are inverted on Italian localization. (All work fine with Mojave patched) Tried 2 different keyboard.

See my earlier posts about black screeen after second boot stage (no white progress bar on black screen) when using GTX680 Display Port Out. Seems OK on on first boot after install but no video on subsequent boots. Fixed by using CTX680 DVI-D port.
Same thing happening with Cat beta 6 system installed using patcher 1.0.8.
[doublepost=1566435174][/doublepost]Good Morning Jack,

Same thing happening with Cat beta 6 system installed using new patcher 1.0.8 and forced cache rebuild on completely clean install from newly partitioned SSD.

There is another report (echophilon #3902) of an ATi Rx580 card going to black screen.

IMO, Apple has screwed the GPU drivers for some video cards.

The good news is that this DisplayPort breakage apparently exists on supported iMacs with Kepler Nvidia so keep your hopes up. Remember that they totally broke the Trackpad system preference panel in one release only to have it fixed in the next.
