Hello Collin, thank you for the excellent work done
The first 2 installations were updated from DP5 but the following 2 installations were clean installations.
It's late here in France I'm going to bed, I'll try to reinstall DP6 tomorrow and I'll restart with CMD + V to see the errors

Keep trying, cause it works flawlessly.

Are you completely nuking the pre-existing APFS partition scheme and starting with a clean gpt? If you aren't doing that and are only erasing the AFPS system volume, it might be picking up the previous stale kernel caches from the previous Catalina installation (which inhibits the automatic kernel cache rebuild). I've never been clear on which APFS partition volume those kernel caches get stored on (Preboot?).

There´s no need for that. If you select the hard drive in the Disk Utility, not the partitions, and you click "erase", that´s what it does, delete all previous partitions, even the hidden ones.

Installed DP6 in my Mac Pro 3.1 All seems to work fine. No problems with reboots (5 by now)

What I/F are you using to connect screen to which GPU in MP3,1?

I find that using GTX680 Display Port to Display Port on 24" Dell loses all video.
GTX680 DVI-D to Dell is OK.

In Cat beta5 GTX680 Display Port to Display Port on 24" Dell is OK.

On my Mac Pro 3,1 ... I tried to update to beta6 using a USB drive created with the 1.0.7 tool and after installing, it failed with the following on the APFS boot screen....

Searching for macOS Boot File...
Starting macOS...
Error loading kernel cache (0xe)
Boot failed; will sleep for 10 seconds before exiting...

I tried to reapply the patches and force the cache to be updated when it rebooted from the USB stick, but it still gave me the same error. I reinstalled beta5 and Catalina is back up and running again.

I'll try reformatting the SSD drive the next time I try (probably tomorrow) and see if it helps.

I currently have the latest Mojave on the SSD in bay 1 and Catalina beta5 on the SSD in bay 2.

That happened to me so I reinstalled DP6 and did not apply the post install patches after the second boot and just let it boot normally it took a bit but I did get in to my desktop :)

Let me see….

Yes, I´m using this adpater. I don´t remember very well why, but I believe that the displayport to mini display port adapter connected to my Apple Led Cinema display 27 didn´t work right at boot screen.

Nop, now I remember. I was using two Apple displays. When I removed one of them, I left the one connected to this adapter, cause the other one booted at very poor refresh ratio and resolution.

Apple screwed up my cache rebuild method it seems. I'll update the Patcher momentarily to fix this.
TL;DR – can confirm DP6 works now using patcher v1.0.8.

cMP 4,1/5,1 here. Got the stop/forbidden circle too with an in-place update of DP6 over DP5 on monday. Tried again yesterday with v1.0.7 and a clean install, no dice. Today I was able to repair the last installation by recreating the usb stick with v1.0.8, booting from it, just applying the post install patches again and then excecuting the force cache rebuild. This took about 15-20sec now (only 2-3sec with v1.0.7).

Everything works, thumbs up @dosdude1 for the quick fix.

finally i got back my lovely firefox!
+1 !!

Have you tried reapplying all of the patches with forced cache rebuilding under a usb installer created with 1.0.8 from DP6? Just to make sure you don't have some funky residual kernel cache issues.

Will try tomorrow — had a long day wrestling with LoRa mode spreading factors

Did you try a clean install as well? Also, boot with Command + V held and see what error it gives you.

Once again a big thank you Collin

Successful installation (not a clean install but a DP5 update) to DP6 (19A536g)

This morning I redid a installation USB key with Patcher 1.0.8 and 15.0.25 downloaded yesterday.
After 35 minutes (and without post-install patches) the reboot went well (no forbidden symbol).

YES !!! Firefox is working again !!!

What's the current situation with removing the use of boot-args="-no_compat_check" in patched Catalina? Last time that I checked that seemed to be still being set by the usb installer created with Catalina Patcher 1.0.6.

Use the newer 1.0.8 release to recreate the usb installer as it fixes the breakage in the required forced kernel cache rebuild step. You should just be able to boot from the usb reinstaller and reapply the patches (but make sure you click on the Force Cache Rebuild checkbox when it briefly appears.

There´s no need for that. If you select the hard drive in the Disk Utility, not the partitions, and you click "erase", that´s what it does, delete all previous partitions, even the hidden ones.

Except that Disk Utility now hides the devices for those that are partitioned in the display by default now.

WiFi Issues on Catalina Dev Beta 5

I just installed Catalina Dev Beta 5 on an Unsupported MacBookPro5,3.

View attachment 852625

My current issue is that on my System Preferences | Network, my wifi option does not show, so I can't select it.

Used @dosdude1's macOS Catalina Patcher 1.0.6 to install and patch.

Appreciate any help and/or response.

Same issue for me. I'm about to use @dosdude1's Catalina Patcher v1.0.8 to re-install DP6.
Anyone ever had the wifi issues existing on DP5 and upgrading to DP6 resolved the issue?

Thanks.
