Hi, @0403979, thanks for making a new version of Catalina Patcher! I tried to create an installer disk with your beta 6 patch file, but continually got the following error messages. I have tried that with a 16GB and 32GB USB disk but got the same result and the installer disk can successfully install the latest Catalina but can't patch the OS, there is no output commands after typing "patch". I think the reason is because of those errors during the creation of the install disk. Could you have a check on this? Thank you! And here is the log file with those errors:

I've seen this issue many times but I don't know what it is. Can you give me the size of your hard drive, your installer drive, and the amount of RAM you have?

Somehow I missed that DVD player app stopped working in Mojave as well. It is actually not working on supported MBP9,2 as well(Catalina). It was surprisingly easy to delete despite being a built-in app. It is not an important app as VLC easily replaces it but I guess it is indicative of some OS changes.

Anybody got AirDrop working on a late 2008 unibody MacBook? It works perfectly in Mojave.
I got halfway through a movie then the DVD player had a hang error

I have succeded in creating an installer for my Hackintosh using the dosdude1 app. The latest version of app booted the installer and the internal hard-drives were visible. Formated and installed. Clover got some issue with SMBIOS; I have to disguise the Hackintosh as iMac 14.2 in Clover in order to boot, but applied the patches for iMac 10.0, being more suited for the hardware. After installation finished (very long), on first boot a kernel panic appeared fast in verbose mode, the lines were blurred mostly and a forbidden sign appeared over them. Tried again, this time installing the APFS patch as well. It happened again. The last line was something like ”Still waiting for root device” and then a long list of blank lines. It was like the OS was still trying to boot, altough it had a fatal error.
I remember something regarding the SATA controller. I have discussed on InsanelyMac previously about the absence of the hard drives on boot and Slice, the main developer said that there is probably an issue with the kext for SATA in Catalina. The dosdude1 solved at least partially this, but maybe not completely.
@dosdude1 What exactly have you added to your patch that @0403979 has not on his (I admit I could not download the latest version of his patch due to a Github issue)? Perhaps the OS can not mount the partitions on the internal hard-drives, although DiskUtility sees them now, on install?

Is there A manual out there how to install blue sky 1,2 i have download the zip but do not know how to go next
Put this in your /Library/LaunchDaemons folder.
Put the SkyLight in your /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SkyLight.Framworks/Versions/A folder authenticate and replace.
Put the is your /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framwork/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framworkfolder authenticate then reboot you might reboot after you pave the CatalinaAutoMount just to be safe
[doublepost=1566594152][/doublepost]and you need this

The size of my hard drive is 512GB ssd, the size of my installer drive is 16GB or 32GB USB disk, and the RAM is 16GB. My laptop is a mid-2015 MacBook Pro.

How much space do you available on your hard drive? macOS Patcher stores temporary modifications on the drive where the macOS installer app is located before copying them to the installer drive. This could be the cause of your no space left issue.

What beta version are you running in Catalina Dev beta 5 Photo's app was fixed as for as getting an update ins system preferences it is broken in order to update you need to download the latest version of the Catalina Patcher then download Catalina Dev Beta 6 then create a new usb patcher with the latest beta and install, To see if your pictures are still in the photo's library go to the pictures folder right click on photo's library-show package contents your photo's should be in a folder called originals some have lost their photo's during the upgrade

Hi Dosdude1. I just purchased a Mac Pro (2009 5,1). It has a an ATI Radeon HD 5770. Can I use your tool to upgrade to Mojave or do I need to get a new graphics card?

This is covered in Post #1 in the thread macOS 10.14 Mojave on Unsupported Macs Thread.
Dosdude1 wrote:

Currently, it is not possible to get full graphics acceleration when running Mojave on a system with a Radeon HD 5xxx or 6xxx series video card. Mojave will be almost unusable without graphics acceleration. This includes the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro systems (MacBookPro8,2 and 8,3). If you want to enable GPU acceleration on these machines, you'll need to disable the AMD video card (This will work on MacBook Pro 8,2 and 8,3 systems ONLY. You CANNOT disable the AMD GPU in an iMac.) Weird colors will also be produced when running Mojave with one of these video cards installed/enabled. To disable the AMD GPU on a 2011 MacBook Pro 8,2 or 8,3, follow the guide found here.

Thank you! I thought that was the case. (My computer is a 2009 Mac Pro and not the computers listed in post #1) I will probably get a new graphics card. If I do install the patch (after getting the new card) is it still possible to take my old installation of High Sierra and use it? (I will take the existing hard drive out and install Mojave on another one)

Hello there. Are you sure that the 2009 Mac Pro you just purchased is a 5,1? Apple released two versions of the Mac Pro 5,1 one in 2010 and the other in 2012. Was the Mac Pro flashed from a 4,1 to the 5,1? In the long run it's best to get a Metal compliant video card. Hope this helps.

You can update to Mojave, but you'll need a better video card in order to get full graphics acceleration.

Just restart your machine, then try the process again and it should work.

You should be able to run Mojave natively on your machine (if it reports as a cMP 5.1)once you have a metal capable graphics card. No need to use the patcher. Have a good read through this link especially page 1.
https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-bootrom-upgrade-instructions-thread.2142418/

If you have not flashed the Rom to a 5.1 and are still on a 4.1 then the patcher is a route to Mojave. However I would suggest looking at flashing the Rom to a 5.1 and then moving to Mojave from there following the instructions above.

I have a cMP 4.1 flashed to a 5.1 and it is now running Mojave 14.6 with rom 144.0.0.0.0 very successfully without using dosdude1’s excellent patcher.

Edit - you may want to look at the unsupported macs Mojave thread as this one is mainly about Catalina. And yes, you can have a High Sierra on another drive with no problems.

My Photo library is >120GB. I was not able to convert in earlier versions and just let it resync with iCloud.
If you use a patched OS on an unsupported Mac, update will not show up. You need to download the next installer and create another DosDude patched installer. You can install over the existing system and it will retain most user settings and all data.

Here is another Catalina 6 regression for the MP3,1—it no longer boots from an SSD mounted on a Sonnet PCie card. Mojave had no problems and early Cat6 betas were OK too, but not anymore. I installed Cat6 on an an SSD in a standard SATA disk slot and then moved the card to the Sonnet PCIe in the second x16 slot but no dice. Oddly, DU from the USB installer sees the SSD as a Device with a Catalina Container and two partitions as normal, but it is not bootable. I tried using a terminal command to set it as bootable and that failed too.

Addition 1 hour later

But here's the odd thing. If I install directly from the USB booter/installer onto the SSD on the Sonnet PICe card in the second x16 slot, all is fine except that the disk icon is a generic blank page icon.

Definitely not. I have more than 300GB available space left. And I have tried to create the installer disk on three different machines and all have got the same result. Such an installer disk created with those errors appeared can successfully install Catalina but can't patch. No command lines output when typing "patch". Really don't know what the problem is.

I suspect that Catalina will be the perpetually shrinking release on unsupported hardware as Apple slowly prunes out all of the dead code left from pre-2013 MacPro's. If we retain the same usability by the final point release prior to macOS 10.16 development, I'll be shocked.
