Ahh ok, i look 7-9 min to the black screen , doesnt eork my friend... I mean you need efi to work

EFI bootscreen is very useful in any case to debug the system, maybe you could have a bootscreen on "non-apple GPU" if you plug some thunderbolt to hdmi or vga external monitor.

The main fact is that my patch is for supported Catalina Mac where many Mac models from 2012 to 2015 and iPad produced from 2014 to 2017 have been escluded by apple for video streaming quality reasons (HEVC GPU with encoder/decoder capable).

Your patch is only Mac models from 2012 to 2015?
My MacPro3,1 is from 2008.
How do I patch SidecarCore.framework for MacPro3,1 2008?
The hint with the Finder helped. No more error message, but with Sidecar still Blackscreen on the iPadPro.
Ok, Sidecar is pure curiosity. Otherwise everything works on the MacPro3,1 with Mojave and Catalina.

my hardware (everything works well with Mojave and Catalina):
GT710 (Metal GPU) on the Apple Cinema 30"
another monitor on the HD5770 (Cable is connected only when I need boot menu)
I have realApple Wifi Broadcom BCM94360CD + BT4.0, OOB works in Mojave and Catalina including handoff.
The iPadPro is supported for Sidecar, the MacPro3,1 is unsupported.

All the unsupported Catalina Mac are already whitelisted, I mean there is nothing to add for unsupported Mac, it's only for supported Mac 2012-2015 that are blacklisted from apple, but it's not only this, however from your pictures I guess I understood why Sidecar shows blackscreen, for two main reasons:

- You need an USB 3.0 XHCI bus, maybe using a PCI-Express USB 3.0 hub or some thunderbolt to USB 3.0 (or usb-type-C adapter); (This is the main issue)

- You may need a better Metal GPU (maybe the GT730) since your GT710 clearly doesn't support the "AirPlay Display Video Mirroring" from your "Cinema HD" picture (it should be as this example picture: https://cdn.tutsplus.com/mac/uploads/2013/07/airplay-syspref.jpg)

AirPlay Mirroring is old naming now they call it AirPlay Display

another example: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...rking.2184104/page-7#lg=post-27578149&slide=0

And again having a dualGPUs system doesn't help, especially if one GPU is Metal and another is non-Metal, for example in a supported 2012 Catalina Mac dualGPUs either intelHD4000 and Nvidia GT 650M are both Metal.

I know macOS (at least previous versions) had a 3.00 am and 5.30 am maintenance Schedule. Last night, I have closed the machine where Catalina ran at about 2.59 am, the shutdown might have taken beyond 3.00 am . This morning, when I have opened it, I have found in Bin (Trash) a folder named with a file with a long name, something with profile in the name. I have deleted it then, but now I have remembered this and I Wonder if there was anything wrong

I'm hoping one of you may be able to help me. I did the in place install from Mojave to Catalina with the patcher. I had to disable System Integrity and now I'm not able to get into recovery anymore to re-enable it. I thought maybe my BT wasn't starting up quick enough to catch the command from the keyboard, so I tried a USB keyboard... Still won't go to boot selector, internet recovery, or recovery mode. Any ideas? This is on a Mac Pro 5,1.

Thanks!

SIP must remain disabled at all times when running a patched copy of macOS.

dp9 what is that? with dosdude patcher... after 2snd boot come this...

any patch broken or need?
This is interesting as I had exactly the same problem, see:https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-10-15-catalina-on-unsupported-macs.2183772/post-27795122
I swapped my video cards from a GTX680 to a RX580 and the problem was still there. So this pointed to a corrupt software file. I reinstalled Catalina B9 using the inplace install (not the usb) and this solved the problem.

ah ok i try it to install renew... same on me i switch my HD6770 to GTX860 ... :D

//after reinstall over installer ... nope same error....

Just doing the usual comparisons... Mojave had 8,211 posts (starting 04 June 2018) on 29 Sep 2018. Catalina (start 03 June 2019), 'just' 4,601 on 29 Sept 2019 - almost half of Mojave's. Seems Mojave generated more frenzy than Catalina :), or perhaps, guys on the Unsupported Macs were more eager (then) to run Mojave. Now on Catalina, more issues, less posts, still way ahead of any Forum postings in terms of numbers. Perhaps someone has an explanation? I find the statistics fascinating.

You can run the cMP5.1 with SIP enabled if you want. Just do not patch. Runs very well without patching but give us your actual configuration if you want more help. You can use the usb installer as a recovery partition. Boot to usb and Terminal is available for you in Utilities menu.
Wait... I can install Catalina w/o patching? cMP5.11, Dual Xeon X5680's, 64GB ECC DDR3, AMD Radeon RX480 8GB, Catalina running off of a 512 GB SSD.

@dosdude1:

Your web page states that "[t]he 2007 iMac 7,1 is compatible [with Catalina patcher] if the CPU is upgraded to a Penryn-based Core 2 Duo, such as a T9300". What sort of performance can be expected from such an upgraded machine, which currently runs El Capitan? Will that be a worthwhile experience? Will there be any kind of GPU acceleration? In case this is considered to be a desirable upgrade, isn't the T9300 chip considered to be for laptops? Are there different flavours of the T9300? Would a T9400 be even better or wouldn't it make any difference?

Yes. Have a good look at this thread:
The cMP 5.1 is in the unique position that although it is now unsupported with Catalina it works unpatched or patched. With a metal graphics card and updated Wi-Fi/BT card it works OOB With the nvram no compat check. Many of us are using it this way at the moment.

The performance will be about the same as with the stock CPU, the only difference is that Penryn Core 2 Duos support the SSE4.1 instruction set, which is required for the Sierra and later kernel to boot.

GPU acceleration will work perfectly fine with the stock Radeon HD 2400 or 2600 video card, with the Legacy Video Card Patch installed.

The T9300 is a laptop chip, as the iMac 7,1 utilizes mobile Intel processors. The T9400 is a 1066 MHz FSB CPU, and is not compatible with the iMac 7,1. The 2.6 GHz T9500 processor, however, will work if you'd rather use that one.

That card will work with the Legacy Video Card Patch, but I'd recommend upgrading to a Metal-compatible card, such as a GeForce GTX680.

Have a Mac Pro 5,1 and am thinking of diving in here, my question is I thought there was some advantage to the ATI metal cards compared to the nVidia ones. Does it matter?

(I'd rather go nVidia all things being equal)

A Nvidia card will have to have a Kepler core as the drivers for the GTX680 are built into Mojave/Catalina. From my experience the GTX680 is an excellent choice - stick to the reference design and the 2GB version to avoid any problems. If you can get one with a Mac efi for the boot screen all the better. There are some faster Kepler cards such as the GTX780. More modern Nvidia cards do not have the drivers for Mojave/Catalina and there are no signs that this will be resolved. I now have a AMD RX580 8Gb. This is definitely faster but I do miss the boot screen but you can live without it. RX580s with Mac efi now appearing but expensive.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I so love having my bootscreen. GTX680 it is.

For those having issues with grey sidebars 1. Place the CatalinaAutoMount in /Library/LaunchDaemons-reboot. 2. Place HIToolbox in /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A
3. Place Skylight in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SkyLight.framework/Versions/A folder reboot :)
I can't replace the files , the paste option doesn't work !
