All the unsupported Catalina Mac are already whitelisted, I mean there is nothing to add for unsupported Mac, it's only for supported Mac 2012-2015 that are blacklisted from apple, but it's not only this, however from your pictures I guess I understood why Sidecar shows blackscreen, for two main reasons:

- You need an USB 3.0 XHCI bus, maybe using a PCI-Express USB 3.0 hub or some thunderbolt to USB 3.0 (or usb-type-C adapter); (This is the main issue)

- You may need a better Metal GPU (maybe the GT730) since your GT710 clearly doesn't support the "AirPlay Display Video Mirroring" from your "Cinema HD" picture (it should be as this example picture: https://cdn.tutsplus.com/mac/uploads/2013/07/airplay-syspref.jpg)

AirPlay Mirroring is old naming now they call it AirPlay Display

another example: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...rking.2184104/page-7#lg=post-27578149&slide=0

And again having a dualGPUs system doesn't help, especially if one GPU is Metal and another is non-Metal, for example in a supported 2012 Catalina Mac dualGPUs either intelHD4000 and Nvidia GT 650M are both Metal.

Has anyone with a MacPro 5,1 and a GTX680 checked to see if they have mirroring in the display system preference panel?

For Sidecar everything is about "AirPlay Display Mirroring" and "USB 3.0 internal bus", apart many working MacBookPro from 2012 to 2015 (the non-HEVC GPU ones), I have had other working feedback of my patch from an iMac late 2012 (with dual GPUs), and also some working "wireless Sidecar" but using minimum a MacBook early 2016 (with Touch Bar and Airport Wifi 802.11ac) and an iPad Pro (or iPad with native ipencil support).

From cMacPro (even a 2019 one) AFAIK officially no one has tried yet Sidecar, probably because it doesn't need to extend to an iPad screen, but rather to a bigger LED external screen.

I can't replace the files , the paste option doesn't work !
the way I do it no need to paste your replacing what's in the zip files

Succesfully installed Cat dev 10 using the install to this machine method using cat patcher 1.1.5 :)

@dosdude1

I take it for granted that an old upgraded iMac 7,1 will require APFS compatibility before the installation of Catalina can proceed. Do you foresee any problems in applying your ROM patch to such a machine? Can this be done from the latest version of the patcher, or is a different implementation recommended?

Catalina Patcher includes a custom bootloader to allow booting of an APFS volume without modifying the BootROM. However, if you'd rather add native APFS booting support, APFS ROM Patcher will work without any issues on the iMac7,1, or any other Intel i965-based system. It's the nVidia MCP79-based machines that are a bit iffy with APFS ROM Patcher.

Just doing the usual comparisons... Mojave had 8,211 posts (starting 04 June 2018) on 29 Sep 2018. Catalina (start 03 June 2019), 'just' 4,601 on 29 Sept 2019 - almost half of Mojave's. Seems Mojave generated more frenzy than Catalina :), or perhaps, guys on the Unsupported Macs were more eager (then) to run Mojave. Now on Catalina, more issues, less posts, still way ahead of any Forum postings in terms of numbers. Perhaps someone has an explanation? I find the statistics fascinating.
If I had to guess:
• Mojave had more exciting new features (everyone wants dark mode, most people won't use Sidecar)
• Non-Metal graphics patches on Catalina took a while to get working and are still unstable
• Catalina has been buggy, even on supported Macs
• Mojave dropped a lot of machines from the support list, whereas Catalina only removed one
• We have a Discord server now and some casual discussion has moved there

Anyways, I can't speak for everyone, but I'm definitely still eager and excited to keep this project going. We're not disappearing anytime soon :)

I'm specifically referring to whether the Display system preference panel shows mirroring for a MacPro 5,1 and GTX680. On my MacPro 3,1 with GTX680, it doesn't but it is unclear to me if that is due to the GPU or only having SSE4,1.

Julian's HIToolbox patch from his last version of BlueSky and Jackluke's Skylight patch to View attachment 865244fix grey sidebars from Cat Dev 8 still works on Cat Dev 10

To clarify the original SkyLight patched from @ASentientBot that I used is this:

then hybrid binary patched using the @testheit method that wrote the offsets to replace in a message, that from 10.14.6 SkyLight have a bit shifted, but consider that this file is hybrid patched over this @ASentientBot release so is not updated to his latest one.

Maybe the SSE4,2 too (so a Penryn cpu limitation), or maybe some of you own a non-apple GTX680 ?

@dosdude1 and @ASentientBot thanks again for the time you spent to make the patcher happen and for sharing this masterful work for legacy devices. I posted this a long time ago and no one responded or maybe no one knew the answer to this question. How will this patcher work on a MacPro5,1 2010 with a metal supported card? Will I only patch the Wifi/BT and audio alone or is the native audio and BCRM cards supported without the patching in 2010?

I am also confused a bit because when I installed Mojave fully supported it has to update firmware not sure what firmware it has to install and I had to place my original non metal card GFX card in for this part to work on boot you hold down the option key and the DVD tray opens then closes and the firmware updates. SO how does this process go forward with the Catalina version and your patcher?

the Catalina Beta 10 has been released any news on an updated patcher

Many think it's a GM seed, but I guess apple need another couple of week for final release, mainly because of Sidecar, they are not ready yet. My supposition.

@dosdude1 for the second time my everytime succesfully used usb 2.0 16 gb pendrive is stuck after downloading B10 & patching, restoring BaseSystem.dmg with patcher 1.1.5, no error shown.

EDIT Using a Samsung USB 3.0 pendrive on differenti Port solved kg issue. 😃 Strange, the old pendrive filler with 9 GB works fine.

The dosdude1 app needs updating to download Catalina DP10/PB9 , I guess. If I press download on System Preferences/Software Update, I shall get a full install app or something less?

Updated to DP10 with in-place 'Install to this Machine' over DP9 using Patcher 1.1.5. No problems so far, WiFi patch still working, NightShift patch re-applied again.

Didn't bother creating an USB Installer yet, will try that out later.

The latest version of the patcher did not work for me. When I restarted with the patcher and selected to "Reinsall MacOS", I got an error message saying that this version of MacOS is damaged and cannot be used to install.

Remake the installer drive and try again. Ensure the system date and time is set correctly.
