Do these patches break the Auto appearance functionality? I have a MacBook 6,1 and I can't seem to get that function to work. I installed latest beta like you 'install to this machine'. The Hitoolbox and Skylight you mentioned look great and work. Any idea about the auto function? Thanks
As far as I know the patches doesn't break the auto appearance its been broke since the very first beta came out I use an app called night owl which the same thing Light mode from sunrise Dark mode from sunset :)

Why does the Recovery partition (Cmd-R) not work when Catalina is installed using the patcher?
Recovery partition will currently be non-functional on any machine running Catalina Patcher. I am working on a solution, but it's my last priority due to the uselessness of the recovery partition. For now, just use a USB drive instead, as it provides the exact same functionality, plus the ability to do a re-install of the OS.

One of the forum members suggested that I should buy a battery from the DuracellDirect.com, which I did(brand 2-POWER). I am very happy so far but of course with batteries only time will tell. I can get about 8 hours with light usage. It has 12 months warranty and I paid AU$99.00 for it(I am currently in Australia).
Thank you

For what it's worth, I got a new MacBook7,1 battery from NewerTech and it is excellent. 5ish hours under regular use, 8-9 if I really try to conserve power, 2-3 under very heavy use. Which is about how long I remember it lasting back in 2012 when it was new.
Thank you

I successfully installed Catalina on my Mac mini (Mid 2011) 5,1. Mojave was previously installed. I converted my drive to APFS using Command-Option-R to allow me to unmount my drive to perform the conversion.

I haven't visited this thread in a while. Last time I checked it out the conclusion had been reached that non-Metal Macs were a lost cause... and now that's not the case? Full support has actually been accomplished?

Can someone get me up to date on this?
We're currently achieving full acceleration using shimmed 10.14 graphics frameworks. If it sounds sketchy, it's because it is. But it works for now!

The auto appearance has never worked with my acceleration patches. It's only present in the new version of the frameworks which we're currently replacing with Mojave's.

There are a couple third-party tools to do it though, so it doesn't seem necessary to reimplement.

Post a panic log (preferably after setting the keepsyms=1 boot argument). Alternately, just disable sleep and lock your screen instead.

I never thought we'd still have working acceleration by the GM. Yay!!

So, Mac Pro 5,1 user here, since the Golden Master is out, and I don't see a FAQ on this wiki...

What tool should I use or you recommend me use? Does it allow OTA updates or in order to install updates you have to do something else?

Hi @dosdude1 @ASentientBot !
Just installed Catalina GM on Macmini4,1. ALL OK, but KERNEL_TASK is often using high CPU (sometimes not). Is there a a workaround that I can try? Because on patched Mojave I don't have this problem at all...

Regards, Alex

If DP11 is the GM how come it still says beta ?. Just thought I’d ask the question

I already answered it at https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...er-to-developers.2203398/page-3#post-27836279

There may be more GMs before public release too, and even if not then the final release build may be different to the GM - particularly in light of new bugs in the current GM which were not present in previous betas (one of which I found myself).
AFAIR these are called Release Candidates. Current build 19A582a would be GM RC1.

DP11 (15.0.32, 19A582a) installed on MBP5,2 via USB installer made with patcher 1.1.5.
Also re-installed the night shift patch with patch updater.
Running with the 9600M GT GPU this time.

Everything fine, including Photos (excpet the "all photos" item which can be worked-around) and Maps.

Great thanks, ASentientBot and Dosdude!

Hi All, Just wondering if I install the GM version of Catalina on my Mac Pro 3.1 will it wipe out my 10.15 Beta (19A526h) files and programs completely or just update the OS ?

Hi all. Just wanted to ask @dosdude1, or anyone else who knows, a question. I successfully installed Catalina 10.15 and it runs beautifully on my MacBook Pro 8,2. My question is, when I installed Catalina, I added an APFS container (called it Catalina). I left the Movaje installation on Macintosh HD. Can I now safely remove Macintosh HD to free up space as Catalina was installed to check it worked? Disk utility shows Catalina : Catalina - Data : Macintosh HD. As it does work, flawlessly I might add, I no longer need Mojave. Many thanks in anticipation and also for the brilliant work you have all done to breathe new life into old machines.

Even if many insistent rumors plan it for a today release 4th October (with Apple Arcade), I also think that there will be a second "GM seed 2" for Catalina, and a final public release will be available on mid October (during the third week), apart some minor bugs, they need to improve Sidecar on Catalina and it takes a bit more time, my supposition.

I was still on Catalina beta 5, and jumped to beta 11, and since I had necessity to keep many things unpatched, I used this method to upgrade and it again worked great:

only addition is to replace the "SystemVersion.plist" on the install target /S/L/CoreServices/ with a previous HighSierra (or El Capitan) version, in order to upgrade an existent installation and for keeping all Datas and Library settings.

The gray in your screenshot is far too dark, you can barely read the writing. that is so bad with me too!
It's probably due to the HiToolbox framework and / or the Skylight framework. Can not you change that to make the gray in the transience brighter?

BlueSky does work and I think this looks just as well as Mojave :)
