I can add one detail : same problem was happening with VLC in 10.14.5 so its not a Catalina related problem !!!!!!!!! I didn't try Final Cut Pro in 10.14.5 so I don't know if it was also before Catalina that it happened.I upgraded to Catalina my MacPro 3,1 + Nvidia gtx 680 Card with Dosdude1's patcher and the upgrade went well with an USB stick. One bad surprise : my Logitech Mouse didn't worked and I have to wait for an upgraded driver. I had a spare Apple one so my computer stood usable.
One big problem with 2 apps : when I open a movie in VLC, the menus came in red color, and the app can't be used. Exactly same problem with Final Cut Pro even with the latest version upgraded for Catalina. Same red menus making the app unusable !!!!!!! But the strange thing is if I use the competitor of VLC which is IINA to read a movie it is working well without the red menus...........Somebody has a clue to what's happening with these apps ?????????
My attempts to install BlueSky ended up crashing my macbook pro boot. Please what steps did you use in your installation? Thanks!https://github.com/rmc-team/bluesky/releases/tag/1.4.3 download the zip from here

USB.Thanks dosdude!
Just curious for those upgrading. Did you upgrade while in Mojave, or booted from the USB to upgrade?
thanks![]()
I don't know the answers to your first two questions, but @jackluke found a way to run Dashboard widgets as standalone apps. (Dashboard wasn't 32-bit either, they just chose to remove it.)With the release of macOS Catalina, I am considering installing the new operating system as soon as a few audio applications are updated to 64 bits by their developers. Meanwhile, I wonder if it would be possible for the gurus in this thread to present a more or less detailed explanation of options or procedures (beyond Catalina installation/patching itself) that can or must be attempted for a more streamlined transition to Catalina. For instance,
- Are there any benefits to be derived from the use of Innie and Lilu?
- Will Innie or Lilu solve the issue of Night Shift on a Mac Pro 5,1 with an Apple LED Cinema Display, or will the patcher see to that on its own?
- Can a more detailed tutorial be provided as to how to reinstate Dashboard widgets (including third-party ones) as 64-bit applications?
- Is there any advice for old-timers to easily adapt to Catalina-flavoured APFS? I am referring in particular to customary tricks, like editing binary files or replacing them with an altered version in possibly more heavily protected folders or volumes.
sudo mount -uw /; killall Finder
you will be able to modify any system files until you reboot. I also made a LaunchDaemon to writably mount the system volume at every boot, but that's generally unnecessary and I don't even use it.Did you update from macOS Mojave to Catalina that could explain why you have 2 patch updater iconsI have 2 Icons "Patch Updater" in /Applications/Utilities. Which one is the right one: Version 1.0 or Version 1.2?
I do not have any?I have 2 Icons "Patch Updater" in /Applications/Utilities. Which one is the right one: Version 1.0 or Version 1.2?
I posted the steps on page 180 post 4492 I make sure I put the CatalinaAutoMount in the /Library/LaunchDaemons folder reboot also if you are reapplying the night shift patch after you installed macOS Catalina at the same time as your installing the BlueSk patches it causes issues first install the Night patch reboot then proceedMy attempts to install BlueSky ended up crashing my macbook pro boot. You should be able to delete the ones from Mojave I safely deleted the relocated items folder from my desktop last night no issues so farI upgraded my mini Mac 3,1 Mojave to Catalina, with Dosdude1's patcher and the upgrade went well! Only things I have "Relocated Items" folder on DeskTop and two Patch Updater in Utilities, one is from Mojave, so what I can do with these?! Thanks!
Did you check the applications-utilities folder that is where the patch updater app is locatedNot sure if I should have an updated app or not. I did a clean install. Tried post install and updater app was ticked but there is still no updater app. Any ideas?

I am wondering if it is anything to do with installing the skylight patch as I installed over the top of the currupted copy. I'll try another clean install with s new patcher download just incase.Did you check the applications-utilities folder that is where the patch updater app is located
