I had not heard of it causing crashes.
DLV.kext was only needed for usage of the netkas metal driver patch to my knowledge which is no longer needed now that AAAmouSSE.kext is available.
DisableLibraryValidation is not installed to the system, it is only part of the installation environment. It is not loaded under the normal full install.
I installed DisableLibraryValidation.kext manually for some other reason. All I know is, if it is loaded (kextstat) then Music.app crashes at launch. If I unload it, the Music.app launches. If you have a version that doesn't cause Music.app, please post a URL to your version of DisableLibraryValidation.kext so I can compare with the versions I have. If Music.app does crash then please post a confirmation of the problem here.

I believe it is only available with the beta or developer profiles installed and downloading either through the Catalina Beta app store page or using...

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.15.1

Keep in mind that currently you have to install it on a supported machine as Catalina Patcher doesn't produce a usable patched installer even though all of the patches for a MacPro 3,1 with GTX 680 work fine when applied later.

I was able to download using the software update command recommended above. Did it on a supported MBP currently that has the Developer Beta profile and the GM (supplemental update 2) installed.

One thing to note, the software command does not work on a Mojave supported MBP with the Developer Profile.

Thank You @jhowarth for the help.

Make a clean install of the new installer (supplemental 10.15.0), then in the initial settings you can choose to restore your Time Machine backup. If it is not possible, you will have to manually copy the folders, it has no secret, and sometimes the system gets even better after copying each application manually.
I tried that yesterday and it seems like there's also something wrong with the setup assistant because it "sees" the backup bundle on my external drive but - even if I leave it working for almost an hour - never shows any backups (unlike the Recovery Assistant, who shows the backups but moans about my MacBook not being able to boot APFS and doesn't let me restore it)...
Migration Assistant (if I just set up a clean Catalina Installation) keeps logging me out when I start the restore process and as soon as I login again (directly after being back at the logon screen) hangs forever.

So... unless there are any more ideas on what I could try - I guess I'll copy my stuff manually as soon as I find time to :-/

@dosdude1: Is there any possibility of maybe fixing/patching the recovery image to make it possible to start the recovery from there?

Would it ever be possible to have some sort of patched recovery image? It would make several things a lot easier.
You could shrink the APFS volume on the hard drive Catalina is installed on, then create an HFS+ partition in the resulting empty space, using Catalina Patcher to create an installer on that partition as if it were a USB drive.

Since my MacBook Air 4.2 is working perfectly with Airdrop and Handoff/continuity after applying SH scripts, (Thanks to all those who assisted) I have decided to not apply the supplement OS update of Catalina 10.15 yet and wait for the next major update version along with Catalina patcher update.
Since I do not want to loose out on trying to get Airdrop, Continuity activated again with these text scripts and terminal commands.

OK. I had succesfully installed the bluesky patch, but in a manual mode. I’ll try to explain how i did it.

First download the following file

Unzip it in the desktop.

In terminal:

sudo /sbin/mount -uw /

(Put your administator password when the system ask for it)

Then, go to the folder where you unzip the file

cd Desktop
cd release-213013-091019

Now we will go to the HIToolbox folder

cd resources
cd patch
cd HIToolbox
cd 10.15

Now we will copy the file to our computer

sudo cp HIToolbox /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A

Now we will copy the other file.

cd ..
cd ..

(yes… put two times cd..)

cd SkyLight
cd 10.15
sudo cp SkyLightOriginal /System/Library/Privateframeworks/SkyLight.framework/Versions/A

Then reboot the system.

Doing all this, I can see the transparency in menus. So I think that the .sh archive has a error somewhere.

Thank you, working fine!!!!!
But... the link is wrong because this is not the latest release, you linked 1955 release which is wrong(?). I downloaded the latest 2130 release and followed your instructions, works like a charm.

Thank you!

Hello,
What is going on with the CUDA and Nvidia drivers for Catalina?

I need CUDA and Nvidia drivers for the EVGA GTX 680 4GB Mac Edition for OSX Catalina. It was working properly with OSX Mojave. It also works now with Catalina but slower. Will they release any new drivers or they stopped for ever? What I have to do, change system?

Also:
I have installed a Quadro K5000 4GB Mac Edition on a Mac Pro 3.1. It was working fine with the OSX Mojave and previous OSXs, connected with two monitors LG 27EA83 (2560x1440) via 1x DVI and 1x DisplayPort, working on full resolution. I installed the new OSX Catalina and after that the GFX Card does not work properly. That means only the two DVI ports give signal, the one of them on full resolution and the other at 1920x1080, which is normal. The problem is that the two DisplayPorts do not work at all and I cannot get the maximum resolution of the card video output. I mention that the Nvidia website has not announced the drivers for Quadro K5000 for OSX Catalina yet and the system works with the default macOS Graphics Driver. My question is when/where I can get the proper drivers which will make the GFX card work properly. Is the drivers the main issue or I have to take other action? The system is working professionally for video editing and the GFX card is the heart, as you understand, it is a big problem for 15 days now.

Kind Regards,

The first time I installed Catalina using the patched installer I could access trackpad settings on my MacBook Pro 5,1. The last two times I can't. I know it worked at first, because the first thing I do after installing macOS is to uncheck the natural scrolling direction checkbox. Now I can't... This is why I don't like running unsupported systems...

Any known way to fix this?

Thanks, I would try, except now that I have installed my Xubuntu dual boot rEFInd won't find the patched system and so it won't boot. I'm going back to El Capitan. It's insecure but so is a patched OS without SIP.

What? There's no battery in the computer anymore. It went bad many years ago. rEFInd found the partition I made for the patched installer just fine, and the Xubuntu partition. I guess the special boot configuration for the patched Catalina isn't compatible with rEFInd out of the box.

I can't use it for long until I get symptoms from the flickering screen anyways so what software I use is not that important. I'm just going to use it for rtl-sdr (Xubuntu) and Navigraph Charts (macOS) until I can afford a new MacBook. Catalina worked better than expected on it, but I can't be bothered to go though the process to get everything working, and I assume updates need some post install work to be done.

I'm looking for guidance or step-by-step to modifying the PlatformSupport.plist file in Catalina so I can clear my NVRAM of the boot args.

I realize it will probably be overwritten or replaced on updates, but I'm going to pull the Catalina drive and perform updates from a 2018 MBP and can reapply the fix or replace the file after updates are performed and before putting back into the cMP.

Any help is appreciated.

So don’t install it.

Highly unlikely at this point, especially since Apple has depreciated the MacPro 5,1 from support in Catalina. They seems to be just waiting to age out the Nvidia systems entirely.

Looking for some help. Used dosdude1's Catalina Patcher to install Catalina on my Macbook 5,1. Worked well, but no Wifi. Reading through some of the posts here this seems to be a fairly common issue, but I'm not clear about how to fix it. If someone could point me to the kext/s I need to remove/install that would be really helpful.

Is your WiFi connecting at all? I had an issue on my 5,1 after upgrading from Mojave where it would connect but keeps timing out etc. I fixed it by creating a new location in network connections and deleting the existing one.

Not connecting at all. In System Preferences the UI suggests that I can turn Wifi on, but in practice nothing happens, no networks found. I'll have a look at locations to see if that might help. Thanks.

Hi all. Like so many others, I am running into a bit of a hiccup installing Catalina using Dosdude's patch. The Mac in question is a late 2009 Imac 27-inch with the 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Imac 10,2). According to the information with Dosdude's package, it should be compatible. The problem is that when I try to install Catalina, a message comes up saying that "An internet connection is required to install macOS". This happens even though the Imac was connected to my home wifi through Mojave before I restarted with the USB stick containing the patched Catalina installer. Note that the wifi icon is not visible at the top right of the screen and I can't make sense of the Network Utility which seems to be more about testing rather than initiating network connections. Any help would be appreciated.

For all the beginners out there: battery is just as important as the motherboard, its purpose goes far beyond the portability. Your trackpad issues has nothing to do with running unsupported systems.

Not false ;)

"I had an issue with a swollen battery on my 2011 MBP (13"). While I waited for the replacement battery, I ran it at home with the old battery removed (it was swollen enough that the trackpad didn't work anymore). The machine ran without a problem with no battery plugged in.
The only thing you have to watch for is that the MagSafe plug comes unplugged easily… certainly by design! With no battery, this results in a hard shutdown for the computer, so make sure you're careful with the computer (or, better yet, use it like a desktop so there's less chance of jostling the power cable).
TL;DR: Yes, at least as recently as the 2011 MBP. Likely true for rMBP, not sure on the new ones with TB3."

Haha. The beginner is quoting another beginner. Having a machine shut down without a battery is the very least of the problems.

You try connecting to your router with a ethernet cable and see if that works

@dosdude1 Strange issue. Used the Patcher 1.2 and my Mac (MBA 2013) downloaded Catalina Beta 15.0.15 instead of the GM. I'm not enrolled to the Beta program. Anyone has an idea (besides downloading via AppStore)? I want to create a stick for my MP3,1.
