Is that why I’m getting Skylight crashes (posted above)? Where can I get? Thanks!
hi download and use the files from post page 251 #6,251 then follow

In Terminal mode:

sudo /sbin/mount -uw /

Then, go to the folder where you unzipped the file and,

Always in Terminal mode, Copy the file HiToolbox with command:

sudo cp HIToolbox /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A

then,
copy Skylight file:

sudo cp SkyLightOriginal /System/Library/Privateframeworks/SkyLight.framework/Versions/A

Then reboot the system. That so do it to find transparency in Light mode

Put CatalinaAutoMountWritable in /Library/LaunchDaemons-reboot
download the 2 zip files in post 6251 and unzip them
Put the HIToolbox in /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A folder-reboot

Put the SkyLightOriginal in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SkyLight.framework/Versions /A folder-reboot After I replaced mine I ran OnyX with only the checked in maintenance and seems to be working fine

I'm glad I read all the way to the end... is this only for light more (which I don't use) or do you think it'll also fix the crashes?
Yes it should fix the crashes but its not for certain crashes could happen and if it does just reinstall Catalina over your existing Catalina

It might be a thing with the capacitors and they need to decharge. I'll leave it for a week and I'll try installing Catalina again.

And now my Mac 3,1 won't boot again after I had to power it down for something. Man, you jinxed me! Oh well, back to leaving it off power for days....

Does somebody of you know if Dosdude's patch can be used together with automate-eGPU EFI?
I'd like to upgrade from High Sierra to Catalina on an iMac 12,1 connected to an Akitio Node + Radeon RX 560.

Now I can answer my own question with a big NO. :-(
After the update from High Sierra to Catalina, the Mac doesn't recognize the external card anymore. Why? I don't know. The RX 560 IS compatible with Catalina (it works as eGPU on a MacBook pro 11,1), but maybe it's not the right combination with an iMac 12,1? Or maybe it's really IMPOSSIBLE to use an eGPU on an iMac 12,1 after High Sierra? I have to continue my research…

Hello!

Just finished update from 10.15.0 to 10.15.1 with latest @dosdude1 patcher v 1.2.1, downloaded yesterday and Catalina downloaded within the patcher, also yesterday. My Mac still says he's enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Programme...
Is this normal?
Will this cause me problems in the future?

Thanks!

Same problem here and no solution so far.

Hello TimothyR743, Same thing here after successfully installing 10.15.1 (Thanks! and kudos!! to Dosdude and his 1.2.1 to MBP 8,2 (15" 2011 with disabled dGPU) ; After installing HiToolbox to its destination folder copying SkyLightOriginal to /System/Library/Privateframeworks/SkyLight.framework/Versions/A immediately crashed the system with a reboot stuck at initial Apple/boot progress screen. had to reinstall OS from USB patcher to get system back. However I had not yet put the CatalinaAutomount in launchdeamons folder beforehand although I doubt it would have made a difference. Will wait for Bluesky update. cheers Zfrogman
Same here!! But god bless the apfs local snapshots!!!! I boot from the installer sd,and used the time machine restore!! luckily i had one after updating 15.0 to 15.1!!

Since updated to Catalina for my Macbook 7,1 Macbook pro 4,1 and 5,1, the built in japanese input fails
Anyone can use the built in japanese input method in 10.15?

updating what very vague if you have a bootable usb Catalina Patcher with macOS 10.15.0 you can install it over 10.15.1 that will stop skylight from crashing SkyLight is needed by the macOS you might not be able to use Catalina without it Skylight is also used in dark mode

I assumed that skylight was just a patch from asentientbot I didn't realize it was a macOS component. In any case, I did exactly what you suggested with new 15.1 installer yesterday and that's when the crashing started.

The SkyLight posted in post 6251 seems stable I haven't had any crashes yet I replaced it last night Asentientbot hasn't looked at the SkyLight in 10.15.1 to find the issue as he is doing is midterms for college

no its not in the latest patcher SKYlight is a framework in the macOS and sometimes needs to be updated with each macOS update sometimes not and usually Asentientbot usually has a fix in place for the patcher but he is busy along with dosdude doing midterms

Thanks for all the info. If that's the case then who made the version you suggestes I install?

When I installed Catalina I wasn’t in Beta, never been. I jumped from Mojave 10.14.3 to Catalina with a usb, didn’t do a clean install, but I wasn’t in Beta.
When on 15.0 I noticed, like today, I was now in Beta.
Will this be a future problem (staying in Beta)?
If I do a clean install will I leave beta? Since I already have APFS do I need to reformat again my ssd?

Thanks!
