This advice did not help. I think dosdude forgot to update the version number in the about menu.
It does work, as I already stated. Which browser are you using?

What you can do is download and use another browser. I already have 4 browsers on both of my Macs (Brave, Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera), and of course Safari is there too. I primarily use Brave. But what I did yesterday was to launch another browser, Firefox, and when I went to dosdude1's page, the version did say 1.3. Later on, after I had previously deleted Brave's cache file (via their preferences), I launched Brave, and then the version had become 1.3.

It's always a good idea to have 1 or 2 other browsers handy, besides the one you primarily use.

You are completely mistaken.

EDIT: I hadn't seen dosdude1's response.

Will there be a Fix in future for the GTX680. I think there are many people using it.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a fix from Apple as the only supported machines using Kepler GPUs are iMac which have their own screen. So you probably won't find that many people connecting a second one up by DisplayPort to report the bug.

Thanks. I logged out of iCloud account, logged back , restarted the machine and BANG! its working. Thank you @jackluke & @BigSmileMan. Your efforts indeed brought JOY.

I'm still having trouble enabling continuity, The system report says its enabled (attached screenshot) still hand off or capture from mobile device doesn't seem to be working.

  1. Here was I tried so far signing out and then into iCloud, toggling Handoff enable in system preferences then restarting.
  2. performed a clean install and tried the step above.
  3. tried signing out of iCloud restarted signed in and toggled hand off control.

Got a working Airdrop thanks to @jackluke method above. Used MacID Mac-94245B3640C91C81 during enable continuity.

I'd really appreciate your advice.

Device: MacBook Pro 8.1
Network Card: Swapped for BLE 4.0 CAX
OS: macOS Catalina 10.15.2
Patcher: Dosdude 1.3.0

EDIT: Got Continuity working perfectly, looks like some formatting had changed during copy and paste typing it over manually fixed the issues.

Here is my two cent after Finder kill all; run the continuity enable code if you get a response on plist command usage it did not run. command run case always gives a prompt to type the password.

I've essential just rewritten @jackluke code specific to MacBookPro 8,1 with the BT4 Broadcomm CAX card.

Code:
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set:Mac-94245B3640C91C81:ContinuitySupport true" "/System/Library/Frameworks/IOBluetooth.framework/Versions/A/Resources/SystemParameters.plist"

Thanks again to @jakeluke for their amazing work.

Brave and Opera are custumised versions of Google Chrome (Chromium). Opera used to be a browser on its own, but for years this is no longer true. So, in a way, you have only three browsers: Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Old Microsoft Edge is an upgraded Internet Explorer, the new Microsoft Edge, still in beta, is a customised Chrome as well. Pale Moon is a newer browser, in beta for macOS, based on Firefox, but different from Firefox (not a customised Firefox). If you want to give it a try, you find the macOS version in here https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=23409

Hi all, any experience with bitperfect? It does nothing in my case and it is the latest version 3.2.0, allegedly compatible with catalina.
Thanks for your time!

I already mentioned that above, about trying another browser. Also, even if one "clears" the cache for their current browser, it is (most likely) necessary to shut down the machine, then start it up again. That should "catch" the cache change.
Try to using curl command
Copy and paste the command to the terminal Follow by ENTER

Code:
curl -L https://ipfs.io/ipfs/Qmdw4cRrrzBWGJXNhMpBx1QfVZ3kiUbKk1eWLPnw9XxZXt/macOS%20Catalina%20Patcher.dmg -o ~/Desktop/macOSCatalinaPatcher.dmg

To me, they are all different. And my "go to" one now is Brave. Fast, efficient, and no more "in your face, obtrusive" ads! It's amazing to see all the blank space on the site yahoo.com (just one example). Similarly on espn.com.

I am trying to update from 10.15.1 to 10.15.2 using the latest patcher from dosdude and the option to use a tmp folder instead of an external USB drive but after the 1st reboot the loading bar is approximately at 5% for at least 1 and a half hour.Any ideas guys?

Always the same error:
"Mounting BaseSystem.dmg...
/dev/disk7 GUID_partition_scheme
/dev/disk7s1 Apple_HFS /private/tmp/basesystem
Patching BaseSystem.dmg...
Storing BaseSystem.dmg...
hdiutil: couldn't unmount "disk7" - Source is busy"

i made a screenshot.

does nobody have a solution?

I had same problem, multiple macs. Re-downloaded Dosdude1's patcher several times using the previously downloaded cat installer and finally had it work.

My suggestion do the install using the usb bootable patched OS method. Its safer and may take a bit of time but it works.

Sadly I guess that's just the only option for my iMac. As expected, that approach does indeed work for the 10.15.1 -> 10.15.2 upgrade. It's more annoying to do, but it works whereas "Install to This Machine" does not. (For me anyway)

But the 2019 Mac Pro exists. You can put a GTX 680 in that :)

I definitely did update the version number. Refresh the page, check the Current Version Info. If it says 1.3.0, the links will be correct. Download and verify shasum to be sure.
dosdude1, I apologize for my English. Did the keyboard backlight and auto brightness work on MacBook Pro early 2008?

For all those updating to 10.15.2 Catalina OS. Most issues gets resolved if SIP is disabled. Please ensure when you run the patched OS from USB or Install to this disk Just press option key and go to recovery screen and open Terminal and run cmd "CSRUTIL STATUS" it will show whether SIP is enabled or disabled. If it is enabled run cmd "CSRUTIL DISABLE .

After that your patching and update will go well. Do this always whenever there is an Update.;)

Thanks jackluke for your help and for letting me participate in your vast knowledge.

My internal SATA SSD is still on 10.15.1. I'll try to update this to 10.15.2 OTA tomorrow, with some hope that this might work because of your IOUSB*.kext finding, and report back.
@jackluke the OTA worked well on the internal SATA disk of my MBP5,2.

I've kept the -y in place in the boot-args to see what happens: stage2 proceeds well after the power-related messages I had been worried about.

After the OTA installation I applied the post install of patcher 1.3.0, with cache rebuild. System up and running!

As this mac is the only one I have and my workhorse, I'll probably always go via dosdude's bootable USB installer as it offers more redundancy. In cases without full installer (future security patches etc) it is great to have a working OTA update method.

Thanks again!

After the failure of the tmp directory process I am trying again with a usb external drive this time.
The bar loaded successfully after about an hour but it stays there now.
How long should I wait now?
Another hour?Two hours?
