I think that I will wait for 2 hours and then I will quit the effort to upgrade to 10.15.2
It's the first time that even the external USB process fails.
I am using dosdude software for a long time and never had the slightest problem.

I definitely did update the version number. Refresh the page, check the Current Version Info. If it says 1.3.0, the links will be correct. Download and verify shasum to be sure.
I am not able to download the version.
I have delete the browser cache.

Did you guys really see WITHIN THE APP in the ABOUT screen the correct version number.
I am not talking about the website. Here I see 1.3.0 but not when I am opening the app.

Edit: I worked after the 6th try. I do not understand this behavior.

AppleGVACore is present also on HighSierra, however I've tried to replace the AppleGVA but still no HW accel on Catalina in certain webGL or video apps.
[automerge]1572883413[/automerge]

Not yet, seems those require additional kext, but in case those dictionary keys don't work, you can easily remove them, since they are by default empty:
Code:
defaults delete com.apple.coremedia
defaults delete com.apple.AppleGVA

however I guess the video acceleration framerate dropping you noticed on your webGL apps, probably it's related also to them and from what I read this tool should check if it is enabled:
https://github.com/cylonbrain/VDADecoderCheck

I attach the compiled binary exec, but doesn't tell much, on MacBook7,1 from 10.13.6 and 10.14.6 for example it outputs just that a GPU is fully accelerated (click the blur to reveal):
Hardware acceleration is fully supported

while in Catalina it throws an error about a "VDA layer":

VDADecoderCreate failed. err: -12473
An error was returned by the decoder layer. This may happen for example because of bitstream/data errors during a decode operation. This error may also be returned from VDADecoderCreate when hardware decoder resources are available on the system but currently in use by another process.
VDADecoderCreate failed. err: -12473

Meanwhile internally I found these dependencies: CoreMedia.framework , CoreVideo.framework and VideoDecodeAcceleration.framework

I know this is very old at this point but... I think this is what keeps sidecar from working. has anyone gotten sidecar to work on the older Macs like MacBook Pro 7,1? was messing around with my hack and noticed once I got vda decoder to say fully functional sidecar worked.

Hi all,
My contribution:
I found a "make up" for the shadow (and consequently the corners) below the dock menu at HIToolbox (Mojave and Catalina)
Consider that this is not a correction, but only an adjustment in the intensity and position of the shadow.

I highly doubt this will fix Sidecar, but for video decoding acceleration in general: have you looked at my post here? I'm not sure if it really does anything, but it might be a step in the right direction. (I also do not have a good way to test video decode acceleration other than that command line tool, since playing videos has always worked fine for me. Any ideas?)

Any MP3.1 with Catalina here? Would you let me know how it goes?
It should work well as long as you have a Metal-supported GPU.

Writing this on my cMP5,1 running Mojave10.14.6; I have installed Catalina on a separate drive using Dosdude1's patcher but I'm somewhat chary of switching to it. Instead, I've just set Parallels busy installing Catalina as a VM, and it's simply doing that with a stock Apple install image downloaded by Parallels. No patches, no special install scripts, just running as if it's on a fully-supported Mac. I've done nothing special to the Parallels setup, no tuning, nothing, and it's just installing.

And there it is. Catalina, running in a window on a MP5,1. Beats me...

The MacPro 3,1 works very well provided you have a Nvidia GTX 680 card and have replaced the Airport card with an iMac's BCM94360CD mounted on a mini PCIe card. That will get you both Metal graphics support (thus avoiding the ugly legacy video hacks) and full support for AirDrop and Handoff. The only major feature that doesn't work for that configuration is SideCar due to the absence of the requred hardware HEVC support. Considering that SideCar is really aimed at laptop users, it's really not a big deal.

Hello! I'm trying to install Catalina on my MacBookPro8,1 using Dosdude's macOS Catalina Patcher. I'm able to create and boot from USB install media, but shortly after the first reboot the install breaks down and I get a "Catalina can't be installed" error message. The message suggests running Apple diagnostics, which I have done. The hardware passes all tests. Any ideas?

In my case, XProtect is disabled. Is there a way to enable it without turning filevault on?
Thanks
Sorry I have no idea coz never used MacBook without FileVault.

But I have small question. MRT application lives in the folder located in Library/Apple/System/Library/CoreServices/
And I have a prohibitory symbol on it. See on screenshot

MRT.png

So question is...is it normal for this app or some permissions was broken. Same was before update to last version. Can someone confirm please? Thanks

It works flawlessly. May I ask for any chance to get rid of windows borders too?

TO WHOM MAY INTEREST (probably just me)
SUBJECT: Radeon HD 2600 XT
MAC: Mac Pro 3,1
PROBLEM: when opening Launchpad/Utility the mouse hangs for many seconds and the display is often clobbered until becoming unusable - similar problem on Safari "tabs", don't know why. Transparency?
SOLUTION: apply the Legacy video patch, even at a later time - it will no be a rocket but the display is always perfect - in this way, Photoshop sees no GPU but it is fast enough for me.
TESTED ON: Catalina 15.1 and 15.2 - I have verified each time the problem before and the solution after the patch

Sincere thanks to all you guys, you are doing something for me fantastic!

Double-clicking on MRT.app gives this: "you can’t open the application MRT.app because apps in this folder are not installed". XProtect, CoreTypes.bundle and SafariSupport.bundle are also in this folder. So for some reason XProtect and MRT, the os supplies protection against malware, are not installed. Any ideas anyone?
