I have a MacBook Pro 2009 with patched Catalina 10.5.1.
I tried to upgrade the OS to 10.5.2 but it doesn't see the patch USB at boot option screen.
It appears that a special APFS booting doesn't check presence of the patch USB (v1.3).
Is there' any way to disable the special APFS booting so that it can see the patch USB?

Say what? Are you sure your Option button is working? Do you even hold it at startup? Not all USB sticks are bootable on Macs unfortunately.

and @timthomason for these AirPort Broadcom Wifi cards: 0x14E4, 0x8*
there is no AirDrop patch for Catalina since the patched driver causes a IO80211 kext kernel panic, those that work correctly with the patch are 0x14E4, 0x9* and later.

I have a MacBookPro5,3 with the same card configuration:
Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8D)

According to your information, @jackluke , the existing AirDrop patch leads to a kernel panic. Is there any hope to receive a 0x14E4, 0x8* specific patch? Or is this simply impossible with the 0x14E4, 0x8* cards' characteristics?

I would like to enable Continuity and bought an BLE compatible USB adapter (Asus USB-BT400).
What are the pre-conditions to get Continuity running? Do I need AirDrop enabled before?
Tried to apply the ContinuityActivationTool script (contitool.sh) without success.

Appreciate all hints - thanks!

Guys, is it possible to activate AirDrop for Earlier iMac 9,1?

BTW, I am just asking AirDrop not Handoff or Continuity cause I know that's not possible.

Loud and clear. Thanks!
Does anyone have an idea how I can reactivate the hotplug of my
eSata controller in an MBP 5.2? With Mojave 10.14.6 with a modified
AppleAHCIPort.kext, plugging an SSD into the eSata port on the laptop
works perfectly. Now from Catalina 10.15 Final it is no longer possible.

The option in Clover for HackBook with KextToPatch is also no longer possible.

It would be so nice if I could simply plug the SSD into the eSata socket with a special cable to access the data from the external SSD.

It works so well with Mojave 10.14.6
If someone has a tip I would be happy to hear something.
Esata port??? Via thunderbolt? Expresscard?

Ah, ok, it´s a hackintosh. No idea.

@******* ... tell me do you not know an eSata port on one (somewhat older laptops unfortunately only, no longer on the newer ones)? Is mostly a combi port where you can insert eSata and USB.
This laptop also has the Express Card slot you mentioned.

It actually has nothing to do with Hackintosh. Even in a Mac Pro you can plug in an SSD during operation, which is then recognized with Hotplug when the AppleAHCIPort.kext is modified accordingly, similar to Plug and Play with a USB connection. And then I'm looking for a modified AppleAHCIPort.kext which hot plug with Sata connection can.

Do not forget !!! at Mojave 10.14.6 Final BUT IT WORKS, why not at Catalina 10.15 ??????

Yes I know them. I use Esata port everyday, via Thuberbolt (KTU10) and ExpressCard, in my Macbook 17 2011. Im only saying that NO mac has or had Esata ports.

In my Mac Pro 5.1 I have an PCIe with 2 Esata Ports and 2 USB 3.0

Mojave is running just fine on my faulty hdd.
Why not catalina?
Why are you SO determined to run an OS on a piece of junk, garbage hard disk? If you even manage to get it to install, it won't run well at all, not to mention you can't trust it with any data. For the love of God, pay the measly $20 it would cost you to get a new, WORKING hard disk, or better yet a 128GB SSD. And PLEASE stop cluttering the thread with this nonsense.

I suggested that to him multiple times...

In Catalina apple has combined airdrop with continuity and handoff. Unless you have a broadcom wifi card and low latency bluetooth 4.0 it is not possible to just get airdrop working. I am in similar situation with my imac. Cheers

Anyone know why the patcher needs to "Call home" after finishing the creation of a boot drive?

See my post above #7611. That answers your query. In Catalina Airdrop and Continuity are combined by apple and cannot work without each other. Yes Airdrop is required before. Unless you have a broadcom wifi bt card it will not work with this activation script.

Do you have any 3rd party app installed. I see lulu alert on the image you posted. So far we never faced any of such issue .

That´s the word. Nonsense. I will not take a single second to answer that nonsense.

It's for the success/failure tally I keep track of with the tool. It helps me a lot in catching and rectifying issues/bugs with the program.

So can you see if it is a common problem that the install of the NightShift patch doesn't work (forbidden sign) on Catalina 10.15.2 or is it just me (Mac 11,1 - late 2009 i7)?! ;) I'd love to get a fix...

MBP5,2 running 10.15.2. I have no problems with NightShift. Installed it with Patch Updater after installation of 10.15.2 with dosdude's bootable USB installer made with patcher 1.3.0. These are the present patches on my system reported by Patch Updater.

Still no luck upgrading my MP4,1 > 5,1 from 10.15.1 to 10.15.2 with patcher 1.3.0.

This time I created a USB boot drive from with Mojave, disabled the APFS software hack and disabled the post install patching. I booted off the USB, the installation started, the MP rebooted then showed "26 min remaining" then "Estimating time" then "Your Mac will restart when the installation is complete" then nothing. I left it for about 3 hours then rebooted into a CCC cloned drive and restored my boot SSD.

A few days ago I tried the "install to this drive" method with the same result.

Had no problems doing the same thing on a 4,1/5,1, see post #7286.

Would be helpful to share your machine's config, or mention it in your signature. SIP is off? Is a WiFi card present, and still original? If yes you'd need to have the post install patching enabled.

It's just because of the length of the file name.

Don’t think so cause I tried with short file length. It’s probably will happened again edge to edge this night I will add a new picture then you will see what it’s exactly happened.

BTW this is not happening with just files. It’s happening also Drive, folder, file, it’s all on right click action.
