yes usb formatted to extended journaled but patcher says nope dude after couple minutes

Then you should try a new USB Drive, but since for HighSierra recently they released a 2020-001 update maybe they have changed some packages structure, so you could try instead a Mojave USB Patcher that still allow a good HFS+ installation, and of course Mojave Installer is capable to erase/wipe any APFS container, moreover a patched Mojave install is more updated and has the dark mode and mostly the very useful 32 bit app support.

I have tried some but downloading them directly from the Catalina App Store (from search bar "Adblock", the an Apple ID login is required to download), and they are working on Safari version 13.1 (from 10.15.4 beta).

is your usb at least 16 gb your might try downloading HS as some have expired certificates

Hello,

So today I did a clean install of 10.15.3, using the dosdude patcher (thanks, again!) on my late 2011 MacBookPro.
Everything seems to be ok, except the fans, they are almost always ‘on fire’.
But I will see tomorrow how they will behave...

I’m posting today to ask if it is possible and if so, how, to replace de default system font.
I’m blind of my right eye and would love to have a monospaced font, like JetBrains Mono (per example)

Is this possible?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks, I have the font, use it all times in my code editor (sublimeText) and for me it’s quite confortable. I would like to have all my system using it -:)

I guess if the custom font is renamed as SF* and replaced in for example SFCompactDisplay-Regular , after reboot it should work, but the fact is that the apple display system font use this format oft while the custom fonts that downloaded are typically ttf , so I don't think it will work.

Anyone know what to make of this crash on a MacPro 3,1 with GTX680?

Further experiments with 10.15.4b1 and DisableLibraryValidation.kext in conjunction with Music (and iTunes, which I installed via Retroactive v1.4):

Both apps refuse to start with messages as below, despite my attempt to copy the four framework libs to /usr/lib/...
Before doing this, or with aliases only placed there, I got either a "missing..." or "file ... too short" error regarding the dylib in question.

Application Specific Information:
dyld: launch, loading dependent libraries
@executable_path/../Frameworks/libgnsdk_dsp.3.06.1.dylib

Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/libgnsdk_dsp.3.06.1.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes
Reason: unsafe use of @executable_path in /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes with restricted binary (Codesign main executable with Library Validation to allow @ paths)

So there is some progress, but I cannot get the apps self signed for code signing.
(all amfi plus cs_ flags are also set in nvram boot-args).
I also tried to self sign the mentioned library.

SIP is completely off, as csrstatus shows:

Apple Internal: disabled
Kext Signing: disabled
Filesystem Protections: disabled
Debugging Restrictions: disabled
DTrace Restrictions: disabled
NVRAM Protections: disabled
BaseSystem Verification: disabled

Any hints here?

You should remove the DisableLibraryValidation.kext (I already done) from SLE or LE and rebuild a kextcache without it, since as explained by ASentientBot the AMFI nvram are suffice to allow his wrappers signature.

Do you have sleep enabled? I have it disabled and have never seen this.
Try adding keepsyms=1 to boot-args. It might make the kernel panic easier to read if it happens again.

Yes, I have always had sleep enabled after an hour. The MacPro 3,1 with GTX 680 has been rock solid for that up until 10.15.3. Executing...

sudo mount -uw /
cd /Library/Extensions
sudo rm -rf AAAMouSSE.kext
cd /
sudo kextcache -i /

had seemed to have eliminated the kernel panics (at least for over a week) but apparently not entirely. I suspect we are rapidly approaching the EOL for fault free patching of newer Catalina releases (unless we identify the culprit that is mucking up sleep).

Yes, and thanks, I am aware of that, I just tried to have the kext as a fallback for situations where nvram is cleared.
But I´ll try it on my MBP4,1 now. Keep fingers crossed for next boot without the kext ;-)

As suggested by ASentientBot without DisableLibraryValidation.kext in kextcache and only amfi nvram , stock 10.15.4 Music.app (version 1.0.4.50) does work on unsupported Mac, I haven't tried yet Retroactive 1.4 , but I guess it should work too.

Tinker Tool can adjust certain parameters. But change the system font is a horrible idea.

Reverted back to only amfi and cs_ entries in nvram. Deleted the disabler kext. Boots still fine (as to be expected). Now due to self-signed iTunes and Music apps I cannot get them to run, so installed iTunes again vie retroactive. That seems to work and iTunes starts again (but conflicts in newer/older media libraries, so I won´t continue here). How can I get the unmodified Music.app back? Can anyone supply it in archived form here? Thanks!!

The Boot ROM Version on my MacBook Pro(macOS High Sierra) is 99.0.0.0.0. I'm planing to install the macOS Catalina on my unsupported Mac. Should I upgrade the Boot ROM using the FirmwareUpdate.pkg? What firmware version will it be?

10.15.4 Music.app is too big to upload here, what do you self-signed I assume only these ?

/Applications/Music.app/Contents/MacOS/Music
/Applications/Music.app/Contents/Frameworks/*

I'm gonna upload these stock 10.15.4 beta 1 here.

For Music exec it is splittled in two parts, I have tried to use tar with 9 level of compression but size exceed the 8 mb for file allowed by macrumors, so before unzipping rename only this file "4b1Musicexec2.zip" in "4b1Musicexec.z01" (because macrumors don't allow to upload some file extensions).

Thanks so much for the quick aid!
Unfortunately, it did not work - but I remembered that there actually was a Time Machine backup containing the unmodified Music app. This solved the question also, wether restoring to APFS system container also works or not (it does, in a rather strange way - you have to rm -r the app container first before restoring, otherwise macOS complains that it cannot replace/delete the app because it´s a needed component).
