Just wanted to say that I´m running Catalina 10.15.4 on my Mac Pro 5.1, updated GPU and WIFI/BT module, just with the argument -no compat in nvram.

For the first time, everything is working like a charm. Even unlock apps and the Mac with Apple Watch.

Me too (except everything always worked well in previous versions of 10.15.x) ...

But try launching your MUSIC app and see if you have any issues with that.

When rebooting to the USB Catalina Patcher, I'm not able to select my MacinthoshHD to re-apply the post-install patches. The volume does not appear in the volume selection. What to do?

If you installed at least HighSierra on your machine, then I guess there is an issue on the catalina usb patcher on apfs volume detector, just reboot and check if 10.15.4 loads.

For those of you who have Discord Julian posted a link to download 10.15.3 in the Catalina section link on first page to join discord and you can still download Catalina Patcher 1.3.0 go to the first page to to dosdude's Catalina Patcher then click change log then it has a link to older versions of the patcher so we can give dosdude,Asentienbot,Juliann and jackluke sorry time to figure out how to get 10.15.4 installable sorry I if forgot any other contributors :)

@dosdude1 @jackluke I tried your without legacy video patch idea but it didn’t work. It’s just looping. Verbose doesn’t stuck but when finished it’s just auto reboot again. Maybe just like you said there is new thing on latest version.

Remember, post-install patches are applied automatically unless you deselect the option before creating your installer.

If I had deselected the option before creating my installer, would this have avoided the need for me to delete DisableLibraryValidation.kext so that the music.app would work properly?

Also, if deselected, would I still be able to run the installer without manually adding the boot-args for no comps check? I love it that the install survives an NVRAM reset now.

If there were an option for owners of fully updated MP51's (Metal/BT/WiFi updated) to simply click a checkbox and avoid all unneeded patches (but include the SIP/no_conpat_check) that would be really great and avoided some confusion for us less savvy users.

Apply the other patches, and it should work, for now avoid only the legacy video patch.

I guess IOSurface patch is needed that's why you bootloop, or it's telemetry plugin, so wait for dosdude1 next patcher update.

it was a clean install I unchecked the legacy video patch and left the and metal emulator patch unchecked everything else was checked for my model that why I was asking on discord when you are creating a Catalina Patcher if the Coredisplay gets patched while it copying and patching the installesd.dmg. With the legacy patch unchecked I should be booting with the stock Coredisplay and get into the desktop with no graphics acceleration as I have been able to do that before then after everything loads I have been able to boot into the patcher and apply the legacy video patch and obtain acceleration.

just reboot and check if 10.15.4 loads.

Unfortunately setting the vram-parameter did not work and 10.15.4 does not load.

How can I download the older version 10.15.3 of macOS? Does it automaticaly download, if I use version 1.3 of the patcher?

I installed these but still same it’s just looping;

Should I need unchecked ones?

Unfortunately, after spending an entire day working on this, I cannot manage to get Library Validation to be disabled upon first boot of a clean install of 10.15.4. Because of this, the latest Catalina Patcher release (1.3.4) has been reverted back to 10.15.3 support only, and will only download 10.15.3 from Apple. No later versions. I really apologize about this, but despite my best efforts, I could not get this working.

With that said, there is nothing wrong with staying on 10.15.3 for the time being. I would recommend all users running Catalina on a machine with a non-Metal video card to stay on 10.15.3.

An update will be release later if this library validation issue gets figured out, but that may not happen too soon.

It's due to DisableLibraryValidation.kext. Run "sudo rm -R /Library/Extensions/DisableLibraryValidation.kext" in Terminal, and then "sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel".

I understand that after a "first boot of a clean install of 10.15.4" can't be disabled the Library Validation, but consider that if someone upgrade a previous 10.15 installation with an already user setup done your patcher worked.

I'd suggest if in your "10.15.4 Catalina Patcher", in the post-install patches window you split the "Legacy Video Patch" in for example: "Legacy Video kext" and "Legacy non-metal frameworks"

For "Legacy Video Kext" I mean all the legacy GPU kext (included the IOSurface needed to fix the framebuffer bootloop)

For "Legacy non-metal frameworks" I mean these four patched (from Mojave) frameworks: OpenGL, GPUSupport, CoreDisplay, SkyLight

Using instead those stock Catalina Metal frameworks, 10.15.4 will boot on any machine even with AMFI enabled.

Just don't selecting the "Legacy non-metal frameworks" , this will work exactly as a "Metal" GPU non-accelerated, and will let access the welcome screen to enter the apple GUI setup to create a new user.

After a new user is created, using the ASentientBot libraryvalidation.plist this should disable library validation for the default user, and after this almost surely the "Legacy non-metal frameworks" can be installed and non-metal acceleration achieved skipping the AMFI.
