Verify that you're using the latest 1.4.3 release of Catalina Patcher. 10.15.4 installers will not work with older versions.
It was definitely the latest one. I downloaded it because I still had 1.3.3 installed.

I was able to install it, but I had to use the “install on this machine” function instead of a bootable installer.

Hi Guys,
I just don't get along. I have an IMac Late 2009, the patcher is already running on it. However, I cannot update to the latest OSX version.
Now I wanted to create a bootable USB stick but it just doesn't work.
I always get the same mistake:

Mounting BaseSystem.dmg ...

/ dev / disk8 GUID_partition_scheme
/ dev / disk8s1 Apple_HFS / private / tmp / basesystem

Patching BaseSystem.dmg ...

hdiutil: couldn't unmount "disk8" - resource is occupied

SIP is deactivated and the USB sticks are formatted in Mac Journaled, the latest Catalina Patcher is downloaded.
I really don't know what to do anymore.

Your USB has to be formatted Extended-Journaled and at least 16gb

from your pic that looks like a usb hard drive not a thumb drive it seems with so many partitions Catalina is getting confused to which partition to install on internal or external and if installing on the external which partition can I mess up

1. Holding Shift ⇧ while booting up gives a white screen with the prohibitory circle-backslash symbol in the centre – so I think Safe Mode is not working. I think it's something got to do with the SIP's kext signing mechanism rejecting the patcher 'to protect itself' – I'm not entirely sure

Try this for SafeMode;

Theres already a huge thread on this. I ran 15 on a MB 7,1 and it ran terrible but it was also in the .1 era when the OS was still trash. Biggest factor would be ram and having a SSD, if you have a platter or less than 8 Gb don't even try.

I tried sudo nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check -x" but I ended up in some shell with < < < random letters along the side.
Then I did sudo -s; diskutil mount disk1s2; open /Volumes/Preboot/UUID/System/Library/CoreServices/; ls and seen that PlatformSupport.plist didn't exist

I realised pretty quickly that I was actually on Patcher 1.4.1…and there was a Safe Mode fix released on 1.4.2
*makes a brand new bootable patched Catalina external drive partition & reinstalls the entire operating system*
:apple: 10.15.4 (19E266), Patcher 1.4.110.15.4 (19E287), Patcher 1.4.3

⏩ I booted up successfully in Safe Mode! However, this unfortunately did not fix the Safari Extensions tickboxes bug :(

The only problems I've had with Catalina so far were: can't enable Safari Extensions & can't type in Chinese or Japanese input sources (and also the loss of AirDrop but that's ok)

Also, I just learnt about URL unfurl="true" from your post, that's useful to know

Safe Mode MBP 7,1 10.15.4Terminal now on Patcher 1.4.3

Hey Guys, I have an early 2011 with Catalina 10.15.4 using the DOSDude1 patcher, I applied the patch I found in thread 200 something for airdrop, I can open airdrop and its enabled but does not detect my late 2012 MacBook also on Catalina and same wifi and cannot pick up my iPhone 11 Pro.

Is there a way just to add recovery partition drive on unsupported mac for cat 10.15.4.

only if you have broadcom chipset airdrop will work

You have a supported Broadcom Wifi card for Catalina AirDrop, you just need an USB Bluetooth 4.0 BLE dongle, simply plug the dongle and you can AirDrop with iOS devices, for other Catalina mac on same Wifi connected, try to set in both the AirDrop Finder panel Allow to be discovered by: "Everyone" (also on the iOS device).

Ok, I've searched all around this thread and didn't find an answer, I can't find how yo update from patched 10.15.3 to the latest 10.15.14. No OTA available, downloading combo or standard update doesn't work since it says it's incompatible and patcher can't be used with those downloaded pkg's.

Is there any way of updating without having to download the full Catalina ISO and install it again?

Any help will be apreciated since I can't find how to do it.

BTW it's a Macbook Air 11" mid-11.

Hi, I have sourced an ISight 1023 for my unsupported mac pro. The video seems to work albeit at a poor resolution (which is not the main issue) but the microphone is not recognised? Am I missing something? It is connected via firewire through an 800 to 400 6 pin adaptor to one of the front ports. What should I use to enable it and maybe even provide some control of the video too?

This should work: CatalinaOTAswufix

You don't need opencore to continue OTA "macOS Installer" since you have an APFS firmware machine.

Have you tried this and if you have amfi_get_out_of_my_way in your nvram boot_args try the second one

you could try this and see if the mic works. unzip then double click on the script-script editor will open then hit the play button at the top. If it gives you an error message close the script editor-open system preferences-accessibility-privacy then try again with the script

It is better to download with the latest macOS Catalina Patcher and creating a patcher with version 10.15.4.02
