Merci beaucoup !!

For non french speaking readers, issue solved, I just have to check/uncheck items in siri menu several times in order to activate it, thanks :)

Good to know that Catalina works well on the MBA 4,2, thank you. That’s amazing you have all three OS’es running on it! 😲

On the Photos app, I recall that one needs iCloud Photo in order to access the same library seamlessly from different OSes. I do not have iCloud Photo, perhaps that is why I’m running into issues.

I have my MBA 4,2 with all three OS. Catalina works really well and since this machine has broadcom card airdrop and hands off work too. I never face any issues with photo library with any OS. Catalina and Mohave is having similar photo app. You should follow how to load the photo library with option key while pressing the photo app and this gives you the benefit of which library to choose. Photo library is database and can be opened with high sierra or mojave or catalina. I had no issues of backward compatibility etc . This is the work around I mentioned.

1. Put the Catalina Automount in /Library/LaunchDaemons folder reboot
2. run the swupatch in the terminal enter your password when prompted then open up the software update in System preferences download 10.15.3 Final
[automerge]1580265191[/automerge]
3. run the catalinaswufix in there terminal before you restart to install 10.15.3 if you have a macOS Catalina patcher 1.3.0. that you used to install macOS Catalina 10.15.2 then run the post install patches with that it works

Hello,
Thank you for this. I used your tutorial to update from 10.5.4 to the 10.5.4 Supplementary Update. It worked just fine.
I am using an iMac with OpenCore (to get brightness control on my Quadro card). Therefor rebooted normally and setup my boot drive as default (instead of my OpenCore USB). Then followed your tutorial.
The download took a few seconds and the install, including 2 or 3 reboots took about 20 mins.
Cheers!

The dosdude's site has all the info.

Actually, it doesn't for Catalina; it only describes how to do a "new" install; nothing, either in the FAQ, Important Info, or Tutorial Videos mentions anything about Catalina updates.

Last time I need to resort to dosdude's patcher was for my 2008 cMP for Sierra/High Sierra, and it wasn't very smooth sailing with OS updates, which you could allow OS to update itself, but it's REQUIRED to boot into dosdude's USB patched installer to reinstall all patches.

So I was wondering if that process changed with the Catalina patcher since there is now a Patch Updater app included, which suggests that maybe I don't have to manually boot into the dosdude USB to install patches after every OS X update.

A word of caution though: while an immense effort was made to create a patcher that is very easy to use even for a complete PC beginner, it is advised to adequately assess your own abilities before "going all in".

Thanks for the caution, though I'm far beyond a noobie in any computer-related experience (hint: I was an original Apple ][+ owner and cut my programming teeth on 6502 assembly language programming)

With Catalina , you don't have to manually boot into the Dosdude USB To install patches. It is done automatically
I think anyone upgrading to Catalina on Unsupported mac should watch the video

Yes, I understand that for the initial Catalina install.

But my question is in regards to Catalina OS X updates as they are released by Apple. Do I: a) manually install them, then boot into dosdude's USB to install patches; b) manually or auto install updates without having to reinstall dosdude patches?

The video, which I've watched completely, does not cover any follow-on OS X Catalina updates released by Apple in regards to how to handle them with dosdude patches.

FYI, I had long ago upgraded to Catalina 15.2 on one of my 2012 cMPs via dosdude's patcher but hadn't allowed any OS X updates, of which the current is 15.5. Just to be safe, I went the long route of having dosdude patcher download its latest Catalina installer, which was 15.4, and did the full USB install method. So I'm now presently at 10.15.4 on that cMP.

I think the validation patch also breaks some apps such as 1Password. Cause 1Password iCloud Sync doesn't work anymore. I am not sure is this a Legacy iMac issue or for everyone?

Hi All
I am running Catalina on MBP early 2011 8,2 and have followed the guides to get airdrop working.
The MBP can see my devices (iPhones) but they can not see the MBP over airdrop.

have I missed something how can I get this iPhones to see the MBP via airdrop?
any help would be gratefully received.
cheers

Hi.. If you check the video at about 22:30 minutes , he has patch updater app installed in Utilities and will update there if there are any future updates . That's how I understand it anyway, that it will automatically show up there

No, that is NOT what he is asking. That is for the patches themselves. He is asking about Apple updates to the actual operating system, aka Software Update. To answer your question Auggie, you should be prepared for having to do the updates by using the patcher tool to download and create a brand new USB drive and performing an in-place upgrade by booting to the USB installer and running through a full Catalina install. Some progress has been made in this thread with getting software updates to work without any craziness, but until that works reliably nearly 100% of the time, you should be prepared for the worst by making a new, up to date USB installer.

Hi everyone, first i’d like to thanks @dosdude1 @ASentientBot @jackluke @parrotgeek1 @Rastafabi @oliveira131and every person who contributed to this amazing work !!!

I’ve done the Catalina update (the latest) on my MacBook Pro 7,1 mid-2010 and upgrade it with 2x 8Go RAM and a new BX500 Crucial SSD (in France, it cost me about 130 euros) and… IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM. I’ve the feeling that I’ve got a brand new computer for a small amount of money.

However, I still got a minor issue : Siri doesn’t work. It won’t open at all, from the taskbar or from the dock app.

The console says :

Is anyone having an idea of what’s going on ? I’ve searched Siri related posts on the thread, but haven’t found a solution.

Thanks !!
You need to search for siri patch or audio patch. Cheers

The Catalina Patcher only downloads point release versions or security updates 10.15.5 is in Beta if you want to install the beta of 10.15.5 run this patch CatalinaOTAswufix if it doesn't install create a usb with the USBOpenCore then boot from that then select the hdd/ssd your installing the update on. For some they have no issues with amfi_get_out_of_my_way in the nvram boot-args but if you experience high cpu-memory-swap usage reboot in the Catalina Patcher apply the post install patches again without boot into the OpenCoreUSB.If you have issues with Microsoft apps like office you will have run sudo killall tailgated in the terminal to open them once the error report ops up try opening the app again.Google Chrome doesn't work

I'm having trouble getting the latest 1password safari extension running on a 2009 MBP running 10.15.4. I think it might be related to SIP being disabled? How do I get into recovery with the APFS patcher loader? CMD-R doesn't seem to work. Or do I just need to use the installer USB instead?

Yes you need the Installer USB plugged in and get into Recovery that way.

You are asking questions that has been answered million of times in this thread. I understand that even the assembler programmers are looking for an instant gratification but with Catalina you will have to follow the thread very close for the latest developments.

Hello, sorry for my bad English.
I install macOS Catalina 10.15.4 (application from Dosdude site) on MacBook Aluminum 2008 (MacBook5,1). After power on or restart, automatic load EFI shell with information, how disable this shell and run standard loading screen with Apple logo (what command or how repair). Thanks.

I installed Catalina two weeks ago with dosdude. Today I check my disk with 'disk Utility.app' and get this.
What does it mean?

Hello everyone. I will successfully install macOS Catalina 10.15.4 (With Dosdude Patcher), after that i need to install Win10, i will already post here about it, and i decided problem with Boot Camp (The problem was with DVD-drive, it doesn't read Win 10 install DVD, i replace DVD-driver with work one and problem was solved), solution from this post not suitable for me because i have MacBook Pro, not a Mac Pro, and i can't install secondary HDD in MacBook Pro. Windows 10 installed fine, and Boot Camp 4,1 drivers installed fine (Besides Video driver, but Win10 download it from MS server). But now I can't boot to macOS, Windows Boot Camp doesn't see partition with Catalina, and Alt/Option Boot Menu see only Windows partition. What I need to do for boot to Catalina?

P.S. Sorry for my English.

I sync through 1password.com so my vault is available on any OS/Platforms. I don't see the benefit of using iCloud Sync.

I used @TimothyR734's procedure to do an over the air software update via system preference (applied the 10.5.4 supplementary update) and it worked. Check here or on page 422, my post has his procedure in it.
