what patches are you trying to get working :)
Hi Timothy: You had two patches to run in Terminal to get the Catalina Betas working
what patches are you trying to get working :)

I think they were called swupatch and catalinaswufix5am. I ran them both and my computer crashed. That's when I had to reload my OS. I had to use Mavericks, because it was the only install disk I had. I'm afraid I'm not very good at Terminal programming. Thanks for the reply.

The swupatch allows for the beta to be downloaded, the second patch allows for the beta to be installed . you just unzip the swupatch patch place it in the terminal follow the instructions. The Catalinaswufixamfi5 you place in the terminal once the update is about 10% downloaded but I usually wait until right before I get the prompt to restart and they are both safe to use. This is the other method this scripts were done by jackluke

Has anyone running 10.15.4 had an issue with the Find My app? Someone on the Discord server is reporting that it crashes upon opening.
Works flawlessly on this machine.

Hi I tried using the attached file with the update and followed instructions with its etc... What seemed to be a successful update has resulted in a bootloop with my MacBook. It gets to 3/4 on the bootup and restarts then I get a screen showing....your computer restarted press any key and so on........

Do I have any options to restore is without losing anything?

Cheers

Tried this here now and installed 10.15.5 build 19F83c successfully. Works like a charm.
Bonjour,
Same with my iMac 12,1. ;)

How do I reinstall if 8 can't boot up. Is there a page on how to do this and will I lose everything? I done a backup of high Sierra before I installed the last version. Sorry for being noobish here :/

In recovery it says installation of Macos could not continue. It requires downloading important content try again later.

Hi all, I am having problem that I thought was because of a faulty SSHD, however, I have just reinstalled another SSHD I forgot I had and that's not recognised either, I installed the APFS boot loader to see if that helped from Dosdude1 but no luck. What am I doing wrong or am I expecting too much?

SkyLight.framework
Just made a tiny update to the SkyLight wrapper which makes the SLSRequest*Access functions return true. This fixes certain apps like AltTab (super cool program, by the way!) which request Screen Capture access. Since Mojave's SkyLight.framework doesn't restrict those permissions at all, no other fix is necessary.

@dosdude1 @0403979 please update these in your patchers (no hurry though, it's a very small fix).

Hope you all are doing well and staying safe :)

Don't have a USB installation key with the patched 10.15.4?

In any case it is reassuring to see that you have a backup of your old system.

Good luck anyway!

Well for some reason my backup didn't work or wasn't recognised when I tried to restore it. I even tried another usb drive and reformated it journaled then transferred files to see if it would work.unfortunately it wouldn't. I can still drag and drop most of my files from this backup but I've lost my bookmarks :(

macOS Catalina 10.15.5 Dev Beta 5 is out :) View attachment 917103
10.15.5b5 installed fine also to external SSD of an MBP5,2, using jackluke's CatalinaOTAswufix.app.
Used also OpenCore boot into 2nd OTA phase prepared with jackluke's USBOpenCoreAPFSloader2.app as required for machines with too-old USB hardware.
Post-install patches with dosdude's patcher 1.4.3 from a bootable USB installer for 10.15.4supp.
Thanks!

For those who use macOS OTA beta updates:

- you should have before proceed an USB macOS Installer of the current system (for unsupported machines an USB macOS Patcher), because you can surely re-install the system (keeping the datas) if anything went wrong

- OTA beta updates are just for testing purposes, as apple good practice, also for supported Catalina Mac, a beta update (and normal updates too) in some cases could break the system booting, so it's advisable to make a backup before a beta update

- if a Beta update fails, you can use Time Machine from a recovery environment (or from a USB macOS Catalina installer), or the APFS snapshots to revert to a previous known working system state configuration (APFS snapshots are embedded in time machine and stored on the internal drive)

For those who use CatalinaOTAswufix some considerations:

- non-APFS firmware machines to continue the OTA update "macOS Installer" should use this: USBOpenCoreAPFSloader2

- after the OTA installer (Catalina circle logo with progress install bar) completes, to avoid bootloop (kernel panic) or apple logo loading bar with no GUI, is required to re-apply the post-install patches targeting your Catalina Volume label with "Force rebuild cache" selected (or alternatively you could use USBOpenCoreAPFSloader2 that should allow to boot the GUI mode without video acceleration but with minimal essentials patches)

- for non-APFS firmware machines that completed the OTA installer and encountered a bootloop and don't have an USB macOS Catalina Patcher, you might try this: USBOpenCoreAPFSloader2
then after your non-APFS machine power-on chime, hold alt-option key for 15 seconds and select OpenCoreloader from apple startup manager (very often a bootloop macOS is fixable, especially if using a terminal shell environment)

- for non-APFS firmware or APFS ROM patched on external USB hard disk Catalina installation, to continue the OTA Installer you should use this: USBOpenCoreAPFSloader2
after OTA completes you need to re-apply the post-install patches targeting your USB external Catalina Volume and selecting "Force rebuild cache"

Since I am locked out of the Apple world for almost two months, I wonder about the succesor of Catalina, macOS 10.16. . Has Apple announce this years conference in June? Do you think that, due to covid19, they shall postpone macOS 10.16 for next year and keep Catalina for one more year? I plan into getting new hardware with Intel i3 and I am afriad that Intel i3 will not comply with the hardware requirements for 10.16. .

Dosdude1, I am very grateful for the work done. The keyboard backlit and auto-brightness still don't work on MacBook Pro early 2008 (MacBookPro 4.1). Are there any plans to fix this problem? Or go back to Mojave?
