Actually it reads DVD using VLC. There are only problems with CD. If I connect the superdrive to a Win10 PC it also reads CDs. It's driving me mad!

My Mac Pro 2012 will no longer recognize my WIFI card. Its not showing up in the systems report. I think it was after trying to apply a patch in terminal, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know a command to get my Mac Pro to recognize its wifi card. I know all the connections to the wifi card are on and the WIFI card is seated. Of course, I also need to mention that I reinstalled Mavericks, which is the only install disk I have. It may not support an 802.11ac card, but I think it did before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
By the way, the patch seemed to take, but I never could get the OS v10.15 betas

Here are from 10.15.1 build 19B88 the non-patched frameworks (compiled by apple on October 24th), that you have to replace inside the Catalina /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/

after replaced both, just reboot.

Hey @jackluke , is it possible to get Continuity working on a MBP 5,5 mid 2009 using a BLE 4.0 dongle? I really want to give it a try if it there's a way to do that. Many thanks for your efforts..

The card is simply not compatible with Mavericks, if it's an upgraded Wireless AC card.

1st off, I'd like to thank everyone involved with the patch. You guys ROCK!!!

I have 15" mid 2010 MacBook Pro (6,2). I used the most recent patcher to install 10.15.4. It works great and with the help of this thread, it works better. Here are things you've helped me with so far:
So right now, the issues I'm having are:
  • 16GB RAM doesn't work
  • Unlock with Apple Watch
  • Safari Extensions
  • No Airdrop from MB to/from iPhone/iPad
16GB of RAM didn't work. It worked with High Sierra but when I tried to boot the patcher off the USB (restart and hold Alt/Option) it wouldn't find the drive. I swapped the original 4GB and it worked. After it was installed, I put the 16GB back in and it rebooted to (IIRC) a white screen or a screen with the "O" with the line thru it.

From searching thru the thread, it seems that my MB is too old for the Apple Watch and AirDrop issues. Is that true? Could I upgrade my, umm, (I guess) bluetooth hardware to make it work?

It seems every one here is having the Safari Extension issue and also people on native Catalina are also. Do you think this may be fixed with a patch or maybe in 10.15.5?

Again You guys are awesome. Thanks for all your help.

Thank you. I finally figured out how to bypass the security codes on the App Store. They are not compatible with Mavericks either. I have upgraded to High Sierra on my journey to get back to where I was with your Catalina patcher. My wifi card reappeared with High Sierra.
I am truly honored to have you reply to my post. I think what you did with the patcher is true computer genius. Now if I could only figure out how to use Timothy's patches, I'd be in high cotton.

16GB of ram does NOT work on the 15" 2010 MacBook Pro. You can occasionally get the machine to post and go to the Alt/Option boot menu, but it isn't and will never be stable.
The 13" model with a core 2 duo processor WILL work with 16GB ram, as will the 2010 MacBook Non-Pro White Unibody A1342 model. 15" 2010 models are out of luck, 8GB is the max.

Thanks. I did have the 16GB in the computer with High Sierra prior to using the Patcher. No worries, though. I returned it and got 8GB. I'd rather have Catalina than 16gb w/High Sierra.

Congratulations are in order then, you are the only person who has ever gotten it to work.

Any chance you could post a screenshot of your Mac about this info? And exactly what ram you were using to get to 16gb?

This was the RAM I had: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BKVQFCU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I watched this video before I bought the RAM but now watching it again, it's a 13" and not a 15" like the one I have. Good thing Amazon had free return shipping on it so it cost me nothing out of pocket. I re-ordered the same RAM in 8 GB and it works fine on Catallina.

Two silly questions on using MacOS Downloader if I may:
1. After I successfully downloaded the El Captain install app into a target folder (using chmod +x and sudo commands according to the GitHub page), the target folder seems to have been locked requiring a password entered every time I change it. Is there a Terminal command I need to run to revert/unlock that folder?
2. On a separate computer, I exited during the "Downloading installer files" step after I couldn't see anymore download progress (by pressing "Ctrl+C" I think). Where are the temporary files and how I do remove them?

This is the the right way! Upgrades you need to make from a bootable usb. You must go the step over High Sierra to create the Bootcamp
Hey @caravella. I currently have volume with High Sierra and volume with Patched Catalina on my mid 2010 15" MBP6,2.

Would I be able to use Bootcamp int he High Sierra volume to install Win7 update to 10 then switch to the Patched Catalina volume then use Win10?

Tony Vee 73 or whoever .... it is really quite complicated to install Windows on an older MBP pre UEFI ...dual boot on a single drive.

I gave up after much effort in doing so and decided to delete my Mojave drive and put my CD/DVD drive back in ....

taking out my Catalina (main)drive after formatting the other Mojave SSD drive ...your High Sierra Volume ( putting it into the main slot afterwards ) as MBR /FAT 32 formatted in Disk Utility ....after installing ReFind on to the Catalina drive in order to eventually find the new EFI Windows SSD drive ...I have an old clunky Windows computer that I downloaded a Windows ISO on via a torrent site and using Rufus put the ISO onto a USB drive ...has to be Rufus to work...not sure the USB will work if using Unetbootin or similar bootable USB software if using your Mac as Rufus target system is BIOS/UEFI ... I then burnt the Windows 10 ISO from the USB on to a DVD and installed by clicking on the WINDOWS disc and not the windows UFI after clicking on ALT when restarting after putting the DVD back in to the optical drive.

I didn't use Bootcamp at all.

Once Windows was installed on the empty SSD drive I removed the CD/DVD optical drive and put my Catlina drive back into the main slot and put the Windows drive back into the 'optical drive ' caddy. ....reboot and click on one of the windows folders that ReFind finds....I think it may be one of the Legacy NTFS drives...

I then installed the Apple drivers by downloading an exe called Brigadier....version 0.2.4 which finds the drivers for your specific MBP... and then 7Zip to unzip the compressed file....open Brigadier and click on the Apple folder and copy that folder...Control C ...right click (see below) and run in compatibility mode as the drivers are not compatible for your Mac for Windows 10.... ..and then open Terminal ...CMD IN search function ...opened as ADMIN....shift F10 ... and type cd and paste the copied folder ..Control V...for admin....right click...type shift F10 as until the Bootcamp drivers are installed you won't be able to right click....when you have opened into the Apple directory....type BootCamp64.msi and install the drivers...

Reboot into your new Windows drive using Refind and enable the functionality by clicking on the Bootcamp symbol ( grey diamond shape in the taskbar ...far right.....arrow up...not enabling the F buttons) and update Windows in Windows update .....I then downloaded the latest bootcamp drivers version 6.1 in order to get the latest drivers as if you want the very latest Windows 10 version ( 2004) the older drivers won't work..again in the Apple folder run BootCamp in compatibility mode...right click etc ..as before copy the Apple folder from the new Bootcamp download ...Control C ...and in terminal run as ADMIN ...type cd and paste the Apple folder...Control V and then type BootCamp.msi ...in my case when I had downloaded the latest Windows version whilst using the older Apple drivers through fast Developers ring the cursor was not seen/ trackpad didn't work and so I had to roll back to the previous working version.....send a message if you wish to install in this way and have difficulty in doing so.....

I am now rocking the very latest Windows version on my MacBook Pro mid 2009 dual booting using Refind along with the latest Catalina Beta.

If you have any earlier version just use it and apply a combo update thereafter. Those can be obtained at apple.com.

And please do not ask to for illegal software/code redistribution. Even the patcher itself is according to my understanding at least questionable.

Serviteur,

Bonjour,

So nothing to do !
Back to the stock BT original chip and all running perfectly (MP 3,1).
Not a big deal for me as I use a wired connection and BT is only for mouse and trackpad !

Has anyone running 10.15.4 had an issue with the Find My app? Someone on the Discord server is reporting that it crashes upon opening.
