macOS 10.15 Catalina on Unsupported Macs

To all the people with success with the new 1.4.4 patcher - how are you doing it?
Are you then able after installing clean new or patching existing 10.15.4 able to use normal update or are you still using the update trick and terminal svupdate usb

I've tried both with no success

I've just wiped and reloaded 10.15.4 (previously downloaded literally the other day) made from the new 1.4.4 patcher first boot into it and still no auto update - and can't install the manual updater.

Do i need to do the sv and 5am thing again to trick it to download.... i did that and it installed but i couldn't boot into mac again at 10.15.5 it just crashed over and over again even after booting into 1.4.4 installer and applying patches... - but i had don't all the install of the update before i did the 1.4.4 patcher...

Is there a way i can install windows 10 and dual boot? Last time i tried it installed fine but i couldn't boot back to Catalina. I had to use my usb installer and reinstall catalina to boot back. Im on a Macbook pro 13 mid-2009 5,5

Hope this is not a dumb question ... once you create a Catalina Pathcher usb bootable installer and succesfully update one Mac can you then use it again for another Mac or do you have to start the process all over again? In other words can you re-use the same usb bootable installer for more than one Mac? Thanks!

good question, from my experience you can reuse it for other macs, it does not customize until you run the install

I’m not sure to whom you are directing your question, but ...

Catalina Patcher v1.4.4 downloads 10.15.5 and installs It (10.15.5) fine for me when using “install to machine”. I also made a USB installer, but haven’t used that yet.

I’m not sure what your issue is.

In my case (MBP5,2) it was just like yours with patcher 1.4.3. Installation completed automatically with 1.4.4.

Got it running thank you patched it from 10.15.4 to latest v5 - I assumed that even 1.4.4 d/l function wouldn't down new v.5 as the servers on apples app site still say d/l 10.15.4 !! if I need to I'll download via the patcher app thanks.

Question in zoom with all the new security the camera and mic do NOT appear in the security app to allow access is this because of the SIP patch....>? and can this be fixed or just me....!? Can anyone else install Zoom 5.04 and see if they are able to allow mic and camera access.... I get nothing and I have tried various terminal turn ons etc to no avail...

It takes an awful lot of time to boot from a USB drive. Hasn't it always been the case with your setup?

Catalina 10.15.5 works fine, but the Safari Extensions still don't work, as they can't be enabled in MacBook 5,1 (late 2008) and MacBook Pro 7,1 (Mid 2010) and in the other unsupported Mac.

To answer my own question, it does appear that command-R now boots into the recovery partition on patched 10.15.5 installed with Catalina Patcher 1.4.4 on a MacPro 3,1 with APFS ROM patch applied. Nice.

Can confirm this, cmd-r has started to work fine here in 10.15.5 (even though the Recovery is shared with two other systems in the same container, note the size of 1.5GB). Nice indeed.

No, not really.. it is an SSD and it takes about 40sek. to boot and showing the install menu

Just did on my MP5,1 Mojave to Catalina 10.15.5 using @dosdue1 1.4.4 patcher and extensions are working in Safari.

No issues here running 10.15.5 after installing from Dosdue1 patcher 1.4.4. I can see numbers in activity monitor.

toyosup88 I am dual booting a similar machine to yours with the latest versions of both Catalina and Windows 10. However I am not dual booting from the same drive. I swapped out the CD/DVD drive as I hardly ever use it and with a hard drive caddy case put in an SSD for Windows. I had tried for a while to dual boot on a single drive but it proved beyond my newbie capabilities. I explained what I did to get Windows 10 on a 2nd drive in a previous very wordy post #10,841 if you care to check it out if the 2 drive dual boot is an option you would wish to explore. I am running a mid 2009 MacBookPro ( 5,4).

I installed over my 10.15.4 using the patcher to download the 10.15.5 and install to this machine option.

On my MBP 8.2 early 2011 with 10.15.5 Office 2019 fails. Deleted 16.29 and tried to install the newest, it also fails. Anybody knows what to do?

MS OneNote works, but Word and Excel crash at every start (find a screenshot with the first part of the error-message)
