Hello everyone,

would like some help in two things that is happening with me and at least another user,

First I have tried most recent patcher on a MacBook Pro 17" from early 2011, and the FaceTime camera doesn't work, opens up and glitches, it works fine in Mojave also pathed and in High Sierra Officially supported, so it's definitely not a hardware issue,

the second situation is a little more complicated, my AMD 6750 HD is working fine so I don’t want to disable It, I use it in windows 10 for some light gaming and autocad tools.

in mojave I use the " gswitch " app to force Mojave to only use intel 3000 so I have full graphics acceleration, although it recognizes the AMD but I know it has no graphics acceleration from Mojave forward.

unfortunately " gswitch " or "igfx" do not work in macOS Catalina. So to my limited knowledge on the matter I have no way to force Macos Catalina to only use the integrated intel 3000, it only wants to use the dedicated Amd with no full acceleration...

so my question is, is there a terminal command or some other miracle app to force macOS Catalina to only use the integrated graphics???

thanks in advance for the help!

Well since nobody even glanced at what the hell I wrote, I am pleased to say that I have figured out my own solutions to the problems that I was facing above!

So I hope this helps out some other poor soul out there!

So here It goes: After gswitch and igfx not working in macOS Catalina, I thought I would try a last but risky solution, I noticed that @dosdude1 had written an app called " MacBook Pro dGPU Disabler " for this model, he instructed that before using this app you would have to boot on safe mode and change a bunch of values etc etc and lastly you would run the MacBook Pro dGPU Disabler, but since I didn't want to disable it in hardware because I use it in Windows, I just wanted it dead in macOS itself, I ran it without doing any of the steps in the latest patched installation that I had just made, so his app removes the AMD kexts properly from the system and does a little something to prevent them form appearing again, so after rebooting to my surprise I have only my Intel HD 3000 recognized on the monitor preferences with automatic gpu switch disabled in energy preferences, although it shows in system report if you check but macOS never uses it, I opened a crap load of apps and all was smooth as butter meaning it's always using the integrated Intel so YAY!!! And what's even more shocking is that it fixed my FaceTime issue also!!! It turns out FaceTime being all glitchy was because of the AMD card taking the lead, so that got fixed also! I've already booted back into Windows back and forth and Windows uses the AMD card as normal, and only macOS Catalina uses the Intel 3000. Another funny trick that I found out, in your monitor preferences in the color part, if you use the " sRGB IEC61966-2.1 " In light or dark mode you don't get any of those weird window glitches you sometimes get in other color profiles!

So everything is working good! And since I didn't change any values to disable AMD in hardware, Brightness buttons work fine, as well as thunderbolt! What you won't have working in macOS Catalina external display ( because it uses dedicated GPU for that RIGHT ??? ) But external display with thunderbolt does work on Windows because AMD is alive there.

Thanks to everyone who read this.

I’ve just updated to 10.15.5 using the 1.4.4 tool and my admin account is appearing as a standard account. Is there a fix?

I guess you are on a non-APFS firmware machine, this maybe occurred because the machine firmware doesn't understand how to handle the Catalina Data Volume (where Library and Users are stored), so forcing the installation will result in mismatching admin user unix permissions, AFAIK, "converting" the standard account to admin won't work properly, I guess you should re-create a new admin account and move your files there.

Instead this issue seems don't occur when using an OTA update (example catalinaotaswufix with opencore for non-APFS machines) because the Data volume settings are migrated correctly through the automatized apple post-scripts phases.

Thnks for the reply. I’ve used the dosdude patcher / updated method for a few years now on 2 non APFS firmware machines and this is a first.

Zoom 5.0.4 worked perfectly after applying this patch: http://dosdude1.com/catalina/zoomnonmetal.command.zip

Still having issues with Zoom and Catalina.
10.15.5
As per screen shots Audacity enables the allow in privacy for mic/camera but zoom comes up with a different button almost internal zoom not the OS>?

Zoom Works fine on 10.15.4 on a iMac and a usb installed 10.15.4 boot drive on said MacBook Pro as well.

As you can see running latest download zoom 5.04 and strangely when clicking check for update it says oh must download a version that's compatible as per 3rd screen shot! even tho running latest. Run the updater and it downloads 5.04 again and still doesn't work...!

Im lost!

Any way to force or give a program ie zoom access?

I'm d/l 1.4.4 version of OS and flashing usb installer and will see how that goes rather then patching 15.4 up to 15.5 who knows....

Another success with dosdude1 patch 1.4.4 and Catalina 10.15.5 with:

Mac Pro 3,1 (GTX680 graphics)
Mac Pro 3,1 (GeForce 8800 graphics)
MacBook 5,1
IMac 8,1

I can’t upgrade my Mac Mini 4,1 since the hard drive is dying and the Apple installer won’t install to a drive with S.M.A.R.T. errors. But it looks like I’m going to have to retire the machine since I can’t run the program I’ve been using it for since OpenGL bugs are a big problem with 320m graphics in these machines.
What model GTX 680 card are you using, and is it EFI flashed or not?
I've also installed Catalina on a Mac Pro 3,1 with an EFI flashed Galaxy GTX680 4GB card, but I have a weird issue where it shows the bootscreen on the DVI port but halfway through the OS bootup it switches to the HDMI port and cuts off signal to the DVI port. The card works just fine in OS El Capitan, so it can't be an issue with my EFI flash.

I have a Mac Pro 5,1 that has been upgraded to 10.15.5 (from High Sierra --> Mojave) via dosdude1's method. This is also the 2nd Mac i've ever owned with my 1st one being a B&W G3 450mhz (a decorative piece next to my fireplace in beautiful condition that still works).

Everything is working fine but I do have a simple question. Is it ok to install the various security updates Apple releases? I haven't seen 1 come up yet but i've only had this computer for 5 days. I know I would have to redownload the full installer if there ever is a 10.15.6 to be repatched.

Would also be very interested in a correct answer to that question!
Right now I just donwload the latest Catalina Patcher from dosdude, then download the latest macOS (Complete 8gig) and do a re-install of the whole system. Without using the bootable USB stick, so right on the system...
But I also was wondering, if there is an easier way...
Thanks!

Do you know how to get automatic updates to work?, I am on 10.5.2 and every time I check, it shows "Your Mac is up to date – macOS Catalina 10.15.2".

I also tried to download the 10.15.5 combo update and when I try to install it, I get the error "This software is not supported on your system.". Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the answer. That is what happened when you want to install the new update every time comes. This is a easy way to do. My big question is, if the new version 10.16 don’t working on my old machine how can apply the security updates on the system which don’t recognize as native.
On 10.13 the thing was very easy because the updates applying easily without a big trouble.
That change after 10.14 & 10.15 and you have only to follow one way waiting the new update come out together with a new always installer.
I don’t know really if someone can help me on this matter writing a guideline how to.

This 10.15.5 has been the worst update I’ve ever installed here

First it was the admin account disappearing and turning into a standard account. I couldn’t find any workaround so I wiped and reinstalled, rebooted after applying the night shift patch and got stuck in a loop with the login screen reloading after entering the password. Wiped again and enabled automatic login, still seeing the login screen, still stuck in a loop with it reloading

No problems here with a MacPro 3,1 with EVGA GTX680 2Gb 02G-P4-2684-KR flashed to the official Mac ROMs. The standard DVI connection to a HD Cinema Display works as usual under patched 10.15.5.

Hello guys, I'm trying to install Catalina using dosdude1 patcher but I can't, I formatted the ssd for APFS, the installation starts and hangs when it's four minutes to finish, the new 770m gpu is installed, will I have to put the amd gpu original to be able to make the patch?

I also tried to restore the system using cmd r but I am also not getting it, at the end of charging, a message appears saying that I need to turn the Mac off and on.

will it be because of the new gpu installed?
