The supplemental update for 10.15.5 doesn't work here. Tried it via OTA. The Mac will restart a few seconds after the start of the installation process and the update will be offered again after the complete boot process. What can be done there?

Thank you in advance for helpful hints ...

On my Mac Pro 3,1 under 10.15.5 patched with Dosdude1's patcher, I intend to install this week a Apple Broadcom BCM94360 CD Card for wi-fi and Bluetooth 4.0. One question: did I need to post apply some drivers from Dosdude's patcher or will it be plug and play without applying anything ??????????

Many thanks for the experts advices who have already install this Card.

That's very interesting! Care to share some more information about your WiFi card? What was your source of supply for the card and a Mini PCIe adapter? What is the exact wiring like? And do you have to remove the stock Bluetooth card for this installation?

I wanted to say I upgraded from 10.5.4 to 10.5.5 on my iMac8,1 using the patcher version 1.4.4 and it worked great, except for the fact that it hung on the first boot after the update was complete and I had to power it off and back on. It booted up to a functioning 10.5.5 install after I powered it back on.

This is the first time I've ever succeeded at installing the update to the computer directly from the patcher using "Install to This Machine" instead of having to create a USB boot drive. Somehow I completely missed the fact that dosdude1 created a ROM patcher for APFS support! Having the ROM patch installed on my iMac definitely seems to help. Now it boots directly to the Apple logo without the textual intermediate APFS bootloading (after I selected my hard drive in the Startup Disk control panel). My theory is that the ROM patch is also what allowed "Install to This Machine" to start working correctly.

By the way, the brightness controls don't work on my iMac8,1. At one point in the 10.5.x series brightness was working, but it stopped working several releases ago. I have all the patches installed. Not a huge deal, just thought I'd mention it.

This project is all kinds of awesome. Nice work to everybody involved in making this stuff work so great!

I had the same problem, after boot, install again all drivers and then reboot, everything works! For the video and multitouch of the trackpad look back on this thread in posts that have answered me and use the file they give. Everything works great after

OMG that fixed it, I realized you could re-install the drivers and patches directly from the patcher application, so I didn't have to wipe everything on the computer. So helpful, thank you!

Simply flawless.

Suplimental via USB patcher.png

Except for out-of-date MRT 1.58 it installs s/b 1.61 and is easily remedied. Everything else seems intact.

In the meantime I have successfully installed the Supplemental Update (No OTA, a complete USB stick installation).

Question: How do I subsequently remove the unintentionally installed APFS patch? I want to get rid of that verbose text at startup.

Thanks!

Can somebody explain the use of the ROM Patcher?

I downloaded and installed it, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I got a .zip, unzipped it, that gave me a .pkg. I ran the package it said successful, rebooted and nothing changed. Still see all the text flying by.

I installed SilentKnight, it says my firmware is out of date.

old EFI firmware 007D.B03.0904271443

Mac book 5,1 (Late 2008 Aluminum Macbook)

It also says SIP disabled and System Ingegrity Protection state: unknown (custom configuration). Is this just normal using the patcher?

FWIW I'm currently running 10.15.5 (19F96) and installed from USB using Catalina Patcher 1.4.4. I missed the supplemental by ONE DAY - I had just installed yesterday.

I had just updated from 10.15.1. Actually, I had some trouble so just started from scratch. This is a "throwaway" travel machine and anything on it that is important is synced to iCloud in Documents so I had just started fresh. (And then I use Homebrew to install most software from a Brewfile - hadn't gotten to that yet when I saw the news of the supplemental.)

There is several post some pages ago about removing the APFS texts at boot. your EFI can't be updated any further, and that is normal to see the info about SIP as it needs to be kept diabled on unsupported mac's or the patches could fail and about the supplemental update you could try this unzip either move it to the desktop or run from the downloads folder but do not rename it

Your machine is not compatible with that firmware update. That is only designed for machines that had an official APFS firmware update, which are Late-2009 machines that supported High Sierra natively.

Supplemental Update installed OTA using the designated tool (CatalinaOTAswufix). Patch updater reported patches need to be reinstalled, after another restart all works smoothly
You can’t do it, always must downloading and installing the new update from dosdude1 patcher. That it’s a big trouble always with a new update or more with security update.
Absolutely untrue.

This fails.

I clicked on Software Update Fix.

I'm asked for password.

I get:

Use the tool, you need to do it according to the instructions (click "Fix OTA" once it starts downloading).

/bin/sh: /Users/jon/*/CatalinaOTAswufix.app/Contents/Resources/Scripts/catalinaswubetaotafix.command: No such file or directory (127)
You need to have it on the Desktop or in the Downloads folder. It works.

I have order this card : http://www.osxwifi.com/product/mac-...94360cd-802-11-a-b-g-n-ac-with-bluetooth-4-0/
I will have to remove the stock Bluetooth card and I already found inside the MacPro the 3 other antennas cables necessary for the installation. I will share my experiences after the install.

@dosdude1 @ASentientBot SOMETIMES, also before my last Catalina update, after installation of a Barracuda 500 GB SSD (perfectly working) on Macmini 2010 (Macmini 4,1) system suddenly stops loading after 1 minute with the forbidden-Apple icon on the center of the green screen. If I reboot, It loads fine. Any idea of the cause? Despite this, 10.15.5 seems really faster on my old macmini.

PS: Just updated to 10.15.5 supplemental update using macOS Patcher 1.4.4 direct install, without creating the USB installer. All OK

Hi All, I have big problem, I installed the Supplemental update with the CatalinaOTAswufix. on my Mac Pro 3.1, all I get now is a continuous reboot to white boot up screen and the "computer restarted because of a problem" and so on, and so on... I guess I do need to re-install the patches, so I tried on my Mac Mini to create a patcher with Dosdudes Patcher, all went well until I tried to create Flash Drive installer, the patcher doesn't see my flash drive so unable to create, the same happens when I use my MacBook Pro, what am I doing wrong, I used several different flash drives?.

Re-download the patcher (1.4.4, IIRC).
Restart the Macbook with the flash drive attached, check if you see it on the Desktop. If not - open DiskUtility and search for it in the left pane (remember to view devices, not volumes).

Supplemental update applied this morning via Dosdude1's patcher and everything is OK. Thanks again Dosdude1.
Also here on MBP5,2 downloaded and installed (via bootable USB installer) 10.15.5 supplement with patcher 1.4.4 to external SSD. All working fine.

I briefly saw 10.15.6 beta 1 offered in system settings->software update (I regularly use CatalinaOTAswufix.app to see these). It was probably superseded by the 10.5.5 supplement, don't see it anymore. Will go back to 10.15.5 first release (15.5.01) for this.

BTW when looking with Xcode at the info.plist of a release, I often see an older build number (previous one?), so also for the supplement. After installing, the build number is correct in About This Mac.

How does one go about just installing the supplemental patch? I only use dosdudes tools. I already applied the latest update over the weekend. To get the supplemental patch installed, is it a complete download of the OS from the tool and a complete install? Which is fine, just trying to do some home work.

I installed the supplemental update this way. Downloaded the full installer with patcher 1.4.4 (post 11172).
Installing OTA with support from jackluke’s CatalinaOTAswufix.app, and subsequent application of 1.4.4 patches, will also work - faster download but about the same duration for the rest of the installation.
