I installed the supplemental update this way. Downloaded the full installer with patcher 1.4.4 (post 11172).
Installing OTA with support from jackluke’s CatalinaOTAswufix.app, and subsequent application of 1.4.4 patches, will also work - faster download but about the same duration for the rest of the installation.
Thanks, this is what I thought. I will run through the dosdude process again.

Confirmed here on MBP5,2. Thanks dosdude, ASentientBot, jackluke, all!

Updated from 10.15.5 (15.5.01) OTA with CatalinaOTAswufix, post-install patches 1.4.4.
Apparently this beta wasn't visible from 10.15.5 supplemental (15.5.02).

Used OpenCore loader prepared with USBOpenCoreAPFSloader2 as necessary for USB disks on old machines, to run OTA phase 2.
Also applied NightShift patch with Patch Updater OK.

Tis another method for updates unzip the swupatch and place in the terminal follow the prompts download the update quit the terminal then reopen when the update is nearly downloaded place the catalinaswufix5 in the terminal follow the prompts

Thanks!

However, it turns out perhaps I don't need to do it that way.

There seems to be some issue if you do not download and unzip on the same machine you are installing on? I know, doesn't make sense, but...

I had downloaded on my Mac Mini, but I am installing on Aluminum Macbook.

My first attempt, I downloaded the .zip, uncompressed, and copied the unzipped directory over local network. And got an error message I think during the copy!

So, I decided to copy the .zip and unzip on the Macbook.

This got a similar message when actually running the app.

I'd guess it has something to do with a symlink in the .zip...

Anyway, if I download directly on the Macbook and unzip, then run the app, it runs without the error.

----
Just want to make sure what is going on here before I do this.

I ran it, and it goes to system preferences software update, and says an update is available to macos catalina 10.15.6 developer beta 1. Clearly, that is not what I want!

I GUESS that the first step set the distribution to beta channel. And then the second step sets it BACK to regular distribution channel?

So, I will actually start download the beta, but the second step will stop that and now I should see the supplemental as available?

Possible complicating factor is I beleive 10.15.6 beta 1 was released within the past couple of days.

----
Well, now this is a fine kettle of fish! Looks like I've actually already downloaded the 10.15.6 beta1. I have a VERY fast Internet connection! (1gbps Webpass/Google Fiber).

Further, the app closed some time after opening the control panel.

I just noticed that I don't see the option to disable auto brightness under screen settings. Is there maybe a terminal command for this?

I tried to install the update 10.15.5.01 but it still shows 10.15.5. I downloaded from the latest patcher. When I use get info for the installation macOS Catalina it says 10.15.5.02 is that correct?

MacBook Pro 5,2 running 15.5.5 with supplemental update installed.
Confirm, that 15.5.6 beta is not visible from 15.5.5 installation, when running version 15.5.02 (see post 11,179 by hvds.)
I did use CatalinaOTAswufix automated script.
Question: does 15.5.6 incremental update include the security patches applied by 15.5.02 ?

Hey guys, I'm going to use the patcher for Catalina, my question is: After installing Catalina, will I be able to use the bootcamp tool to partition the ssd and install Windows? And after I install Catalina with the pacther, will I be able to change my GPU?

Because I tried to install the pacther with the new gpu (770m) installed and I couldn't. I went back to the original iMac GPU and will try to do the pacth again. If it works, I will install Windows with the bootcamp tool and install the new GPU.

Thanks!

iMac mid 2011 21.5, 16gb, i5, SSD 500GB, ADM Original gpu atm (Then I`ll install 770m)

By the way, the brightness controls don't work on my iMac8,1. At one point in the 10.5.x series brightness was working, but it stopped working several releases ago. I have all the patches installed. Not a huge deal, just thought I'd mention it.

I re-installed all of the patches using the Patch Updater and now the brightness controls work fine. Yay!

Interesting, the 10.15.5 supplemental build 19F101 appeared to block the 10.15.6 b1 here also. I had to go back to 19F96 too and voilà, it showed up in Softwareupdate

SWU 10.15.5.png

Going to install it now but this time not without taking a tmutil snapshot first. Had to run the full installer 15.5.01 via dosdudes patcher over 19F101 to return to the first 10.15.5 release.

I hope so.

Supplemental update applied this morning via Dosdude1's patcher and everything is OK. Thanks again Dosdude1.

Do I need to boot using the usb stick I created using the patcher tool and then install the supplemental update by running the patch option in the recovery menu? If someone has a step-by-step, that will be great! Thanks.

While more painful, the safest approach is always to download a fresh copy of the latest full installer (15.5.02 for the supplement) and recreate a patched usb installer with Catalina Patcher 1.4.4.

Mission accomplished. ;) From 10.15.5 (19F101) back to 19F96 and then updated to 10.15.6 beta 1 (19G36e) via swupatch (was still there, I was asked to overwrite y/n) and CatalinaOTAswufix. No hiccups. MRT updated from 1.60 to 1.61, NightShift re-applied as usual, all patches still working.

I have order this card : http://www.osxwifi.com/product/mac-...94360cd-802-11-a-b-g-n-ac-with-bluetooth-4-0/
I will have to remove the stock Bluetooth card and I already found inside the MacPro the 3 other antennas cables necessary for the installation. I will share my experiences after the install.

The cheaper route that I used was to order a BCM9436CD iMac card off of eBay like...

For Broadcom BCM94360CD pc wifi Card 802.11ac WiFi BT4.0 for 27"iMac AirPort

and a version 3.0 Mini PCI-E Adapter for BCM94360CD/BCM94331CD

Mini PCI-E Adapter for BCM94360CD/BCM94331CD Upgrade to Version 3.0

The installation instructions at MP 1,1-5,1 WiFi Card for Mac Pro 3,1? and Installing 802.11 A B G N AC + Bluetooth 4.0 Airport Card in Mac Pro 2008 (& 2006) cover the installation using the v3.0 adapter card and the antenna connections. Note that the version 3.0 card places the antenna connections facing the motherboard so you want to connect them prior to seating the adapter card on the motherboard.

Hi all

could someone confirm, if I download an installer through the 1.4.4 patch tool will it download the supplemental update to 10.15.5 or will it now be 10.15.6?

Thanks

I am trying to update my 2009 MBP on 10.15.3 to the latest version. I installed latest patcher, downloaded copy, and selecting "Install to this Computer" It goes through patch and copy process then after some time, starts the patched installer. Installer then says will restart after about a minute or so, then it just boots back into my 10.15.3 like nothing happened.

I've tried to "install to this computer" in the past and same results. Doing the USB installer works, but looking to avoid doing the update that way.

@dosdude1 Installed Catalina 10.15.5 on a 2010 Mac Pro with a AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT flashed by MacVidCards. The install was successful, but after the install, it continues to restart with this error each time, instead of going to the user setup screen. It works fine with a GTX 680, but wondering why it's giving this error with the 5700 XT.

Thoughts?
