Hi, I just finished bumping my 17" Late 2011 MBP to Catalina - maybe this will help:

After entering dosdude's command and before typing reboot, enter the command: nvram boot-args="-v". Hopefully that will do the trick.

I first got a white screen while installing the patcher, but after rebooting in single user mode and re-doing the gpu-power-prefs thing as described, Catalina fired right up...

Why can I not update with dosdudes 1.4.4 and 10.5.5 to my iMac 27" 2011 with GTX860 installed? It is running patched 10.5.3 on it.
When I try to update I'm getting a black screen nothing else....
Please can anyone help me?

I believe you have to update to 10.15.4 first

Thanks @dosdude1 everything worked on MacBook Pro 6,2 (Mid 2010, 15") with an upgraded internal Bluetooth/wifi Card.
This update is the best up to date, Less fan sound, Airdrop and Continuity works flawlessly after applying the needed supplemental patches.

Donation Done and everyone in this thread must consider. I have a 10 year computer with almost all actual system feature without any hunt, worth it.

Hi Guys,

so a few weeks ago i updated my late 2009 imac with the Mojave patch from the awesome @dosdude1,
but had a few issues with web cams. The last couple of days i've been trying to successfully update from the Mojave Patch to the Catalina. Do i need to remove Mojave? Do i need to install or re-install High Sierra, then go from there?
I'm struggling to get this done or even find the old OS's on the app store, as its won't play.
any help appreciated, feel free to throw some insults my way if also required.

hello
since I upgraded my MacBook 7.1 from Mojave to Catalina, my AppStore has stopped working. The appstore opens normally and if I want to download an app, the button changes from download to install and then back to download after about 5 seconds without anything happening.
Catalina 10.15.4 and now 10.15.5 otherwise works without problems on my MacBook.
I know that in Mojave I wrote these commands into the terminal to avoid the update badges:

defaults write com.apple.appstore appStoreBadgeCount 0;
defaults write com.apple.appstored BadgeCount 0;
killall Dock;

Can this be the cause of the App Store error and how can I get the Appstore to work again?

Problem with clean install solved

Hello,

I have a question about zoom. I was running zoom v4.5.9 just fine for the past two weeks. I had an issue with permissions and fixed that with the tccplus wrapper hotfix. Today when I opened up zoom to click on New Meeting, or Join a Meeting I get a notification asking me to upgrade to v.5.0 and higher. Is there any workaround this? From my understanding v4.5.9 is the last supported version for non-metal graphics card. Attached is the screenshot if it helps. I appreciate any help on this. I'm sorry if this has already been answered. If so, please point me in the right direction and I will research further. I'm running Catalina 10.15.4 on:

Macbook Pro (5,5) 13" Mid 2009
2.26 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB

On my Mac Pro 3,1 under 10.15.5 patched with Dosdude1's patcher, I intend to install this week a Apple Broadcom BCM94360 CD Card for wi-fi and Bluetooth 4.0. One question: did I need to post apply some drivers from Dosdude's patcher or will it be plug and play without applying anything ??????????

Many thanks for the experts advices who have already install this Card.

The default set of patches that Catalina Patcher 1.4.4 selects works fine with the BCM94360CD on a MacPro 3,1. Handoff and AirDrop works out of the box.

Everyone had to upgrade to Zoom 5.0 by May 31st to use their new encryption. There's no known workaround, version 4 and older doesn't work with the new encryption. You may want to look into using MS Teams or other services.

Take a look at this thread...and search for black within the first post. It is not the first hit :)

I've successfully updated my iMac 27 Late 2009 to Catalina 10.15.5. Do we need to wait for patcher updates to update the version we are on going forward? For example, there's a supplemental update today that doesn't show up in the Updates screen.

Thank you for that update. I'll switch to using it on the phone.

There's a patch from dosdude that makes the latest Zoom compatible. You can find it on his website. HOWEVER. I updated Zoom last week and it seems to install some kind of legacy version for any mac without a Metal Card now. And it works just fine out of the box after this installation.

Hope it helps.

I got it working. I installed zoom from the official webpage and then it asked me to install a compatible version for my MacOS again from within the app. Thank you so much!! I thought anything higher then v4.5.9 wouldn't work on my Macbook Pro 5,5 with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 since it's non-metal but looks like it's fixed.

Thank you. I just installed it and it's working fine now. You're right, it seemed to install a "compatible version" so that's probably what it was.
