I am running Catalina 10.15.6 on my cMP5,1 2010 well. Having made a homemade fusion drive out of 480gb PCIe SSD and a 4tb Hardrive, disk checkers (Blackmagic and one other) tell me it is read only so they can't check it. Any ideas. Tried a few things found online but still stuck

Thanks for letting us know. Did you use the “install to this machine” option with the patcher?
No, I create a bootable disk and installed top over the previews version.

Im on 10.15.6. Where did you get the Catalina Patcher v1.4.4? or How do you update to 10.15.7?
I have the Patch Updater running, the updater bundled in dosdude1's macos-catalina-patcher, but it says No New Patch updates.
Should I download again dosdude1's macos-catalina-patcher that will install and download again the OSX?

I mentioned Dosdude1's MacOS Catalina Patcher. Yes, download OSX again and install it top over the previous version.

Or you can use @jackluke CatalinaOTAswufix (search in this thread) app and update it directly from inside Software Update.

Thanks telepati.

I was on 10.15.6 and I am now 10.15.7.

I tried the CatalinaOTAswufix, noting with the click and click when download is in a certain percent. Got the download successful. But when it restarted, It won't go thru instead a prohibitory symbol was showing. The trouble was you can not do the option or command R or command option P R. I was about to throw my iMac :D . I tried the Shift Command Option R, it went thru the recovery mode but you need to have an internet as it will download the correct OS for you machine. So you will go back to the last supported OS, for me High Sierra. Then I upgraded again using MacOS Catalina Patcher.

I suggest to use the Dosdude1's MacOS Catalina Patcher to update.

10.15.7 working on my old MacBook Pro 5,1 Late 2008.
The only issue which I noticed is I can't connect to hidden WiFi network, normal WiFi networks works fine. On 10.15.6 and previous hidden networks was working.
Thank you dosdude1 and others for yours great job with Patcher :)
Because of Patcher I can use my old MacBook (taken out of the garbage can) on holiday trips.

Today I updated my Macbook Pro from 2011 from 10.15.6 to 10.15.7 with CatalinaOTAswufix.
This tool works perfect.
Many thanks to the hole team for the hard work to get actual Mac OS running on unsupported hardware

Hello apple_64, and the community :)

I'll do the update tomorrow. To understand, you just used the app CatalinaOTAswufix (link to download app here) with zero additional command lines to execute in order to install the latest macOS build?

The second option looks like the dosdude patch.
Both have a similar approach or the dosdude's soft reinstall the all system?

Thanks

This is actually running way better on this machine than High Sierra. Everything is smooth and fast. I'm pretty new to this, like this is my first try and I love it. What are the prospects for updating to Big Sur when that comes out?

Dosdude reinstall the system on top of the previous one (you are not loosing anything)

How do you get 1333MHz RAM clocking on this machine? I suspect that it´s wrong or you tampered with the "about this Mac" plist file?!

I decided to go with the CatalinaOTAswufix option.
Screenshot 2020-09-26 at 12.53.02.png

  • Selected Software update fix
    • This option allow your Mac to see all update and enrolled your computer to the Apple beta program.
  • I restarted my Mac
  • Then open software update
  • Only selected the macOS update 10.15.7
    Screenshot 2020-09-26 at 12.46.15.png
  • When you start downloading the update, CatalinaOTAswufix recommend you to relaunch the app and click immediately on the second CTA called OTA update fix.
I followed those few steps and did work. :)

I'm not sure why it's showing 1333MHz RAM clocking.
I just remember that the memories I put in had a maximum clock speed of 1333MHz and I was expecting that Mac will downclock this memories to 1066MHz. I did not any other tweaks :)
I also checked how it looks in Linuks, dmidecode also shows 1333MHz...

hi @dosdude1
i install Catalina 10.15.6 with Patcher 1.4.4(reinstall Catalina 10.15.6 over 10.15)
recovery mode (Command+R) is white and nothing to show.i patched optimal for MacBookAir4,2 and recovery partition has checked.
i try twice by post install and not successful.
i have APFS Volume Preboot and Recovery in diskutil list.
Do I have to do anything else to recovery mode work?
