Love those muddy waters...
I had no problem installing Catalina 15.7 on my:

Mid 2010 iMac:
21.5”
iMac11,2
A1311(EMC 2389)
i5 3.6 GHz
16 GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD 5670 512 MB. However, I noticed my Boot ROM is at 98.0.0.0.0. Is that correct or do I need to something else. Any help is appreciated! Thanks to all the guys who make this possible!!!

Under Known Issues, here - http://dosdude1.com/catalina/ "AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5xxx and 6xxx series graphics acceleration: Currently, it is not possible to achieve full graphics acceleration under Catalina on any machines that use a Radeon HD 5xxx or 6xxx series GPU. If you have a machine with one of these GPUs installed, I'd advise upgrading it if possible (can be done in 2010/2011 iMacs, iMac11,x-12,x), disabling the dedicated GPU if using a 2011 15" or 17" MacBook Pro (MacBookPro8,2/8,3, instructions to do so can be found here), or not installing Catalina. Running Catalina without full graphics acceleration will result in extremely poor system performance."

You probably need a new graphics card (take a look at the link in my signature) and a new BT/WIFI card. A simple K610M will do the job to have the full metal experience with Catalina.

my issue with Catalina 10.15.6 with dosdude patch were crash at launch microsoft word 16.41 and google chrome.
i think this command fixed it :
sudo nvram boot-args=amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1
Does anyone else have this problem?
Does this command overwrite the already set boot-args? And if so, do you just combine them with a space between them?

Houston... Can you help me?

Hello people. Maybe is something that I am not doing or maybe is something extra you do. But I tried the whole Dosdude1 process from beginning to end and I allways end up with catalina 10.15.5 instead of 15.7.

My Process for a Macbook Pro 8,1 mid-2011:
-Download Patcher 1.4.4 Start it from withing MacOS (Once from Mojave Once from Catalina 15.5)
-Start Patcher and select Download from Mac Servers
-Create a boot disk
-Install from the boot disk (For some reason I don't need restart and apply post install patch, it works fine at once)
-BOOM "You have Catalina 10.15.5"

I also tried the CatalinaOTAswufix, and after install the 15.7 upgrade the system went to Reboot Loop with the message of "Something went wrong" in multiple languages.
[automerge]1601379313[/automerge]
Any way, is there a link to get the proper 15.7 install image? I am really not sure if it is against the rules of this forum, so, sorry if so.

Hello,

I've 2 questions,

1: does latest @dosdude1 patcher download 10. 15.7?

2: since i started my Mac today, about 60 minutes ago, my fans don't stop spinning, computer is slow... yesterday it was ok, i didn't do anything abnormal, didn't install anything...
can you please look at my screen record and perhaps have a clue from what is going on?

MacBook Pro late 2011 16gb Ram, 250Gb ssd, Intel Hd 3000 graphic card
System Version: macOS 10.15.5 (19F96)
Kernel Version: Darwin 19.5.0

Thanks!

Had the same Error on my Mac Pro 2008 yesterday. I've changed my iCloud password the same day. accountsdb seems borked and goes bonkers. I've signed my Mac out of iCloud and back in and the error was gone.

Hey all,

another stupid question that I guess has been answered dozens of times, but because of the number of google hits ranging years back I just cant figure out what the current state of this is.
I'm thinking about upgrading my Mac Pro 3.1 with Catalina with a m.2 SATA on a PCIE adapter. Is it, by now, possible to boot an APFS partition from one of these? What are the prerequisites?

How you force to download the full image of 10.15.7? my Dosdude Patcher choose to download 10.15.5 it is not downloading the 10.15.7

Yes, combine them with a space between them. Put quotes around everything.
nvram boot-args
sudo nvram "boot-args=some other values and flags we want to keep amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1"
Ah, so for me it became:
Code:
sudo nvram "boot-args=amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1 -no-compat_check"

For good measure updated Microsoft Edge Canary, and it actually starts without a macOS reboot ?

btw, I would much rather have that amfi works out of the box ?

Day to all.
Just did a clean install of 10.15.7 to my MacPro 3.1 with dosdude patcher. All is working OK, but 2 things.
1. internet connection works fine, but I don't get a speed readout in activity monitor for downloads. It stays on 0 all the time, same as iStat menus. I do get a download speed per process, but not combined (pic 1 & 2)
2. the icloud ID picture shows up in system preferences and disappears randomly.

Did anyone have such problems? View attachment 960083 View attachment 960082

Hello. Can you help me please? How you make a clean install of 10.15.7? I downloaded Dosdude Patcher 1.4.4, and whenever I try to download de install image from the Patcher It ends up downloading the 15.5 instead of the 15.7. Is there something I need to do to get the 15.7 image instead of the 15.5 install image?

This can be simply a bad graphics card. At the end of the progress bar the video handling goes over to the MacOS drivers and the graphics mode will be enabled. If the GPU fails to do so you can have several symptoms. One is sticking at the progress bar.
Have you checked the 780M before with any other MacOS, probably the last supported version, High Sierra? Are you sure this card is running and working properly.

I did at least 20 different Catalina installations using the @dosdude1 patcher on my 2011-780M without any problems, so far!

I used the GTX 780M normally with macOS High Sierra and now installed Mojave with the Dosdude method. I flashed the same plate using the @nikey22 + @xanderon method.

I believe that if there was a defect in it, it would not work.
Do you agree?

Just now with Patcher 1.4.4, d/l Install macOS Catalina.app v.15.7.02. no issues. The Patcher deposits the installer .app in your Downloads folder.

Things are running swimmingly! I things are just woking swimmingly. I as simply wondering I have a low functioning Boot ROM.

Both your current boot ROM and GPU are good-to-go for Catalina. If you have room on your HDD?SSD? setting up a High Sierra partition is good insurance on the Mid-10 iMac. We left HS on the iMac and then partitioned w/Disk Utility for Catalina.

Thank you for the answer, but I am still a bit lost, I am very new to mac. Is that a command that I have to input?

d/l Install macOS Catalina.app.

Because when I run the 1.4.4 dosdude patch It decides to download the 10.15.5 instead of the 10.15.7. that is my struggle I don't understand if I need to run some command.

Hi Borak!

The problem is I have to guess each time a user provides only some part of the full information available. I do not own a magic telescope :)

Could you please publish a little bit more about your current hardware and software and firmware setup. Are you using APFS?

My similar system (iMac 12,2 with 780M) runs fine with all four MacOS versions starting with High Sierra latest and ending with Big Sur beta6 (HS, Mojave, Catalina using a shared APFS container system and Big Sur a separate APFS SSD).

I see, you do not really need more help. Good luck!
