Thank you for the answer, but I am still a bit lost, I am very new to mac. Is that a command that I have to input?

d/l Install macOS Catalina.app.

Because when I run the 1.4.4 dosdude patch It decides to download the 10.15.5 instead of the 10.15.7. that is my struggle I don't understand if I need to run some command.

If the issue could be duplicated here, be happy to help. I get 10.15.7.02 w/o fail. Try this? Clear your browser cache and re-download patcher 1.4.4. from https://gateway.ipfs.io/ipfs/QmevD6...K9UzfR7mAb56xXeua5/macOS Catalina Patcher.dmg , install that patcher onto your drive and see if it then works? btw, use the USB option to install .7 in case something else goes awry.

when you get that boot loop
put your USB with the patcher in and press option button at startup to get into the installer.
select intall post patches and when done select Force cache rebuild once done you will boot

I did that and Din't work, It kept saying "Something went wrong" in multiple languages and then reboot. I went, downloaded Dosdude Patch 1.4.4 again and then selected Download, then I created a USB installer and the installed again... For some reason I ended up with 10.15.5 again, My dosdude Patcher is not downloading 10.15.7

How you force to download the full image of 10.15.7? my Dosdude Patcher choose to download 10.15.5 it is not downloading the 10.15.7
Just re-tried to download 10.15.7 with patcher 1.4.4 today, and it worked fine as it did on 26 September.
My copy of the 1.4.4 patcher is dated 29 May, release date in dosdude's changelog is 28 May.

Not quite right - just for future reference, it should be:
Code:
sudo nvram boot-args="amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1 -no_compat_check"
No difference. The nvram command does not see the quotes. The nvram command sees a single argument because of the quotes that surround multiple characters including space characters which would normally delimit multiple arguments. Here are some alternatives:
sudo nvram boot-args=amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1" "-no_compat_check
sudo nvram boot-args=amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1\ -no_compat_check

There was indeed a small thing incorrect in my commandline, but it's not the double quotes (bash/zsh/sh will eat those the same even if you move the first one earlier), but the underscore in -no-/_compat_check.

I swear that I had copied that from what it already was, but apparently not.

10.15.7 working on my old MacBook Pro 5,1 Late 2008.
The only issue which I noticed is I can't connect to hidden WiFi network, normal WiFi networks works fine. On 10.15.6 and previous hidden networks was working.
Thank you dosdude1 and others for yours great job with Patcher :)
Because of Patcher I can use my old MacBook (taken out of the garbage can) on holiday trips.
Same problem here, has anyone been able to resolve it?

Thank you very much to every body, I was unable to download 10.15.7 by any of the methods, there is always some kind of network error that prevents the full download of that installer.

Fortunately I found a place where is a bunch of MacOS torrent images, I don't publish them here because I don't know if it is legal in this forum.

Slightly OT. I have a mid-2011 21.5" iMac A1311 that is reporting an Ambient temperature sensor of 60°C! The room temperature is about 24°C so there is something wrong with this sensor perhaps—but where is it? I have had the motherboard out twice looking for this sensor and cable connector but cannot find it. I have scoured the net and some people sell a sensor and cable but nobody explains the location of the sensor. Does anyone know where it is located?

I use my 2011 MBA at the office with my iPhone 11 Pro Max via the Personal Hotspot feature in Settings.

For Catalina 10.15.3 and 10.15.6, I was able to use the Personal Hotspot via USB with no issues.

Since upgrading to to Catalina 10.15.7, the USB Hot Spot connection will not work. It just sits there with a YELLOW status icon stating that the iPhone is connected, but it will not get the IP info and share the iPhone's Internet connection with my MBA.

I can get it to work with via Wi-Fi, but it requires all kinds of coddling with multiple clicks on the iPhone and MBA to connect.

The USB based Personal Hotspot is literally plug and play.

Has anyone else noticed this in 10.15.7?

Never-mind! I got curious and went into Settings / General / Reset Network Settings and that did the trick! USB Personal Hotspot is now working!

Hello all,

Just recently upgraded my 2009 MacBookPro 5,3 to 10.15.7 and could use some help.

Wifi will not connect to any predefined networks automatically, or even when I tell it to Join through the gui. However, if I run networksetup -setairportnetwork en1 SSID PASSWORD from the terminal it connects right away.

Brief history:
- was running 10.15.6 without any issues
- nvram boot-args -no_compat_check amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1
- Created USB stick with 10.15.7 (overwrote the one I created for 10.15.6).
- Booted from the stick, ran the install, rebooted and ran the post install patches

I've done the above about 5 times. Also tried:
- Running the patcher in "install to this machine"
- Reset the PRAM, re-applied boot-args
- Deleted Airport network definition and re-added

All to no avail.

Any ideas would be welcome!

Specs:
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009)
2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
256GB SSD

Did you apply the WIFI legacy patch from the post install patches

Love those muddy waters...
Yes, combine them with a space between them. Put quotes around everything.
nvram boot-args
sudo nvram "boot-args=some other values and flags we want to keep amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1"
Sorry for not quite understanding this, but I would like to try this. To be sure I paste this exactly as it is into terminal
nvram boot-args
sudo nvram "boot-args=some other values and flags we want to keep amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1"
[/QUOTE]. Is that right?

No! Literally copying the "some other values and flags we want to keep" part, is not a valid boot-args string. Probably macOS will just ignore any nonsense you add, but ehhh.

I installed Catalina on the 1- iMac 27 "Mid 2011 - i7 - 3.4GHz - Nvidia GTX 770M GPU - Flashed (Nick [D] vB + xanderon method) macOS Catalina - 240GB SSD + HD 1TB - 16GB RAM.

It happens that after restarting it appears these characters on the gray screen with a black square and the characters in the middle, passing like a letter at the end of a movie.

Is it possible to fix this?

Thank you.

Not to doubt the obvious results, and the work done by the devs is amazing, but has anyone done a check on this after the computer is up?

I have an old 2011 MBA and was thinking of installing Catalina on it using this. Is it safe in terms of malware, any harmful injected code, key loggers, etc. ?

I absolutely trust dosdude1’s patcher. I have Little Snitch installed and it never prompted for strange outgoing connections.

However, SIP is disabled in order to be able to patch Apple OS files. In theory this makes your computer more vulnerable to attackers. However if you compare it to running the outdated OS your MBA came with, I would estimate the risk to be neglible.

I’d be interested to hear how Catalina performs. I have a MacBookAir4,2 that I upgraded to Mojave, but haven’t taken the step to Catalina yet. I run a ‘ignore-catalina.sh’ periodically to get rid of the red notification dot on the System Preferences panel...

Understandably, SIP does need to be disabled for the magic to work. I'm comfortable with that aspect of it, at least from the outside looking in. But thank you for confirming that with Little Snitch there was no outgoing connections that were suspicious. I did search within the forum and didn't see any reports of suspicious activities with this patch and the previous ones, so that's certainly a positive.

I had the USB ready and I'm posting from Catalina 10.15.7 on my MacBookAir4,2 right now. Performance is as good as High Sierra was, if not better, but I don't really have much installed except for Numbers, Pages, and AirParrot (AirPlay doesn't seem to work on MacBookAir4,2 but that seems to be a known issue - it's reportedly fine on Mojave).
