I have a MacPro summer 2010. Running Mojave. I wanted to update using Doddude's patch.
I made the boot disk as instructed.
But when I booted from it, and tried to reinstall the OS (Catalina), it said the image was corrupted.
Even worse, none of my other disks were mounted. They all gave the following error:
Dish management.dissenter error 49180. So I was unable to reboot into Mojave. The disks would not mount.
Thanks be, I turned off the Catalina boot drive, and my Mac rebooted into Mojave after a long while.
How do I proceed?

Google translate:
Good I will redo from a USB key. Thanks for the solution

I just remade a bootable usb key of the patcher extracted from the DosDude1 site (thanks to him). Everything is fine as in his video tutorial but it blocks the second reboot the one that starts the APFS boot. With me it gives me the installer back to the beginning ??? Thank you for your lights

Would I need the APFS rom patcher for this macpro 3.1? Is it reliable?
The APFS patch should be automatically installed to a EFI partition by the dosdude1 patched installer. It is an EFI Shell renamed to bootx64.efi. There is a startup.nsh script in the same folder which loads the APFS driver from the apfs.efi file. The script then boots the installed Catalina by searching for the preboot boot.efi files. Do those files exist?
An alternative to the APFS patch is to use rEFInd with the apfs.efi driver in the rEFInd drivers folder.
An alternative to using rEFInd is to add the apfs.efi driver to a Driver#### nvram variable and add that to a DriverOrder nvram variable as described at
Hello everybody! I'm newly owner of MP 3,1 and I want to discuss upgrading of this nice but old machine with you. I suggest everyone to take part in creating this guide. Now I will post my achievement in making it bootable from NVMe SSD. Bootable NVMe Note: it can be dangerous for your MP...

If you do that, then you can remove the APFS patch (or just leave it as a backup boot method), and bless Catalina normally using the Startup Disk preferences panel in System Preferences.app.

Known Issues
Currently, it is not possible to get full graphics acceleration when running Catalina on a system with a Radeon HD 5xxx or 6xxx series video card. *Also, the GMAx3100 in the MB4,1 is not fully supported (framebuffer only, no acceleration). Catalina will be almost unusable without graphics acceleration. This includes the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro systems (MacBookPro8,2 and 8,3). If you want to enable GPU acceleration on these machines, you'll need to disable the AMD video card (This will work on MacBook Pro 8,2 and 8,3 systems ONLY. You CANNOT disable the AMD GPU in an iMac.) Weird colors will also be produced when running Catalina with one of these video cards installed/enabled. To disable the AMD GPU on a 2011 MacBook Pro 8,2 or 8,3, follow the guide found here.
In the Photos app, there is no tab for "All Photos." However, if you right-click any photo, you can choose, "Show in All Photos" and the expected "All Photos" functionality is displayed.
You can also set up a smart album, call it "All Photos" and use search criteria "Date Captured is after 1/1/1970".

I have a MacPro 3,1 and have installed Mojave 10.14.6 and all working perfectly well thanks to Dosdude1. Are there any significant benefits installing Catalina if I have no desire to upgrade my wifi module? Are there any performance benefits on Catalina?
I have a Sonnet tempo 512GB SSD M.2 in a PCIE 2.0 slot with 4x 4TB HDD and Nvidia GTX680. No 32bit apps so that is not important. Thanks.
Wow even FireWire at all does FireWire 400 work. I use FireWire for storage on my 1Tb hard drive. I have a FireWire 400 and 800 drives. Both 1Tb I am actually pissed at this.

I have dosdudes patched Catalina installed on a 2007 7,1 iMac 20-Inch "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 with cpu upgraded to T9300
I can't exit the lockscreen when a secondary monitor is attached to the miniDVI video output from the Radeon HD 2600 PRO Graphics card. This output seems to work fine as I get the Catalina wallpaper showing and can move my mouse over it. However I am unable to unlock the screen when this second monitor is attached. I tried with two different monitors with different native resolutions. But after I enter my password and hit enter, the loading disk spins, the screen goes black, and I end up back on the lockscreen again.
Thing's I've tried already:
- rebooting
- unplugging the monitor, logging in, and plugging the monitor in. However this locks the computer
- interestingly, the second monitor does work fine on MacOS El Capitan and Ubuntu

My guess has to be drivers if Linux works and Mac OS 10.11 than it’s a video driver issue. I had an issue on another computer with a similar issue, found out it was the fact that the Nvidia drivers weren’t installed. You probably have a Amd/ati driver issue. Have you tried to reinstall the video patch with Dos dudes patcher? if it’s not that than maybe an update on Catalina broke something.
Sorry but I did not understand your explanations, I am not good enough just padawan
If I am using DosDude1's APFS pactcher software (see item # 1), will the installer work? or do i have to modify the pactcher installer and redo a startup key?
Would it be possible to have a step by step
please Thank you?

Hello MacOS X experts,
I had Catalina (I think it was something like 10.15.3) running perfectly on my early 2011 MacBook Pro.
Since I upgraded to a newer release many applications are crashing at launch time, sometime the application icon even doesn't have time to bounce in the dock.
Even a 10.15.7 fresh install with last version of all patches meet the same issue.
Does anybody has the same problem? Should I revert to 10.15.3 release (and how can I do that)?
Any help is welcome.
And congratulations for our hackers who made it possible.
Well i run "APFS ROM Patcher" who created 2 files (MacPro3,1_APFS.bin and MacPro3,1_backup.bin)
I shut down my computer and waiting the "bip and flashng lightning", i release de power button and my MP 3.1 reboot on my Mojave SSD on PCIe. I relaunch the soft who ask me to owerwriting the rom with messege "not recommended' and say yes… i have a message "well done you can boot on APS volume" but see nothing else. I retry to install Catalina and it doesn't work again with the same problem (at the second boot- return to install box).
What i did wrong ? tired . there are owners of Macpro 3?1 running good on Catalina and used APFS Rom Patcher ?
Thanks for you help

Yes, I told you. Mine works like a charm. Boot pressing ALT and see what volumes you have. Check the "Disable APFS booter" when making the USB if you already patched the ROM.
I have a Mac Pro 3,1 (2008) patched with Dosdude's patcher and running Catalina 10.15.7. My CPU is a NVIDIA GeoForce GTX 680. I installed recently Adobe Photoshop 2021 to replace version 2020 who was perfectly running on the MacPro. Install worked but when I start the program its crashing and the CrashReport says that SSE 4.2 is required to run the 2021 version and my CPU can't run it. Or in the patcher and I installed it there is included a MouSSE extension who is supposed to emulate SSE 4.2 !!!!! Has somebody an idea how to make Photoshop 2021 recognize this emulator ????? Thanks in advance. On the Adobe's forums other people even on Windows have this problem but the reply from Adobe is : Change your CPU.............we will not change our specs.
