Hi everyone, I have a MacBook Pro 8,2 that I just installed 10.15.7 on, as usual everything works fine, but the camera won't work. I verified this by opening FaceTime and Photo Booth, and then checked System Profiler to see that it stated no camera was detected.

Digging in this thread, I tried the recommendation of clearing out PRAM to remove the "AMFI get out of my way" as discussed in post #11316. The good news is that the camera now appears in System Profiler:

"FaceTime HD Camera (Built-in):
Model ID: UVC Camera VendorID_1452 ProductID_34057
Unique ID: 0xfa20000005ac8509"

However, when I open FaceTime or Photo Booth, I still receive an error stating "There is no connected camera". I checked the Privacy tab in Security & Privacy in System Preferences, and nothing's asking for permission to use the camera.

Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this?

That's definitely a potential issue in theory which may crop up later.

Not yet manifesting as an actual issue so far and if Mac OS had been looking closely at SSE4.2, the "Photoshop Problem" would have happened earlier at the OS Level and MouSSE would probably have not worked in the first place.

Still definitely something that may happen at some point later but this kicks the can down the road on the 3,1.
Well, SSE4.2 only has a few instructions like Syncretic said, so might as well finish the emulation (except many addressing modes?)

Is there any way to enable HVEC on an AMD Radeon RX-580 under Ssfari?
Yes, but you need OpenCore on Legacy Apple hardware to achieve this. The MacPro users have a complete thread about Activate AMD hardware acceleration. Finally you may also study the OpenCore docs.

And you have to migrate to Big Sur :)

I presume Syncretic faced some obstacles. Would be awesome if he could overcome these.

Probably. So as a first step, override the CPUID, run Photo Shop - maybe it will work or crash or kernel panic. Run the moussestats command before and after launching Photo Shop to get a before and after picture.

Looking forward to such feedback as well as I don't use Photoshop, or any other Adobe products, myself.

In any case, this test will only confirm that some SSE4.2 items not provided by MouSSE is needed by Photoshop which is just one specific program. The need for extending the coverage would still remain either way.

At the moment however, Mac OS is not choking on the spoofing when using other tools. That is, it is not suddenly deciding to use SSE4.2 for everything.

This is as expected since it was not actually checking before. This might change in the future as noted but that's a problem for later if it does happen. One option would be to run two instances of OpenCore with and without the spoofing. Something to look into later if it ever crops up.

Ideal would be to have full emulation coverage though. This seems to buy some time at the least and with using unsupported computers, kicking the can of total obsolescence down the road is the name of the game.

I did this update to a 2010 macbook pro and it seemed to work fine. Unfortunately, the problem of daily crashes that plagued the machine continued. So I got a new logic board. Now it turns out the APFS patch hasn't been applied to the new logic board, so I cannot boot. I have a fully working Catalina on my disk. The "recommended" method is to install High Sierra to do the patch. Do I *really* need to blow away Catalina with High Sierra, do this patch, and then reinstall Catalina? Or is there an easier way?

Hi all

I created my own complete installer for 19H4

1) I downloaded:
this 2 .dmg files:
AppleDiagnostics.dmg (3,1Mo)
BaseSystem.dmg (498,6 Mo)

this 2 .chunklist files:
AppleDiagnostics.chunklist (328 octets)
BaseSystem.chunklist (2 Ko)

this 2 .pkg files:
InstallAssistantAuto.pkg (10,8 Mo)
InstallESDDmg.pkg (7,74 Go)

2) I extracted "Install macOS Catalina.app" from "InstallAssistantAuto.pkg"
(with Pacifist because the command "pkgutil --expand " don't work)

3) I extracted "InstallESD.dmg" from "InstallESDDmg.pkg"
(with Pacifist, but the command "pkgutil --expand " work too)

4) I placed the following 5 files in the folder: Install macOS Catalina.app/Contents/SharedSupport/
AppleDiagnostics.dmg
BaseSystem.dmg
AppleDiagnostics.chunklist
BaseSystem.chunklist
InstallESD.dmg

Finally I was able to successfully create an installer on a USB key with the Patcher 1.4.4.

I guess the Patcher 1.4.4 function "install on this machine" should also work with this complete 19H4 installer. But I haven't tested yet because it's 2 a.m. here and it's time for me to go to sleep.

Apparently, the 19H4 Build has a catalog # 001-57224 10.15.7 19H4 2020-10-27 macOS Catalina. Info on how to acquire full-installer can be found, here - https://www.alansiu.net/tag/installers/

In the interim, the APFS software boot patch can be installed from the USB installer. No need to go back to High Sierra. It can be removed, later after the EEPROM is patched. Risky business on MCP79 Macs, btw.

I use the Driver####, DriverOrder nvram variables for the APFS driver - it behaves a lot like the ROM patch in that it gets loaded before Startup Manager (hold option key at boot) - whereas the APFS software patch loads an EFI Shell and starts the APFS.efi driver with a startup.nsh script causing a bunch of text to scroll on the screen.

You just need to be able to copy the apfs.efi driver to a partition and setup the nvram Driver variables to point to it (requires gfxutil in macOS and a script - maybe you can copy the files to an installer USB so you don't need to install macOS. Or instead of blowing away an existing install, install to a different disk or a new partition.

Has anyone been able to get Apple Watch System Unlock to work on Catalina using the DosDudes patcher? I can get everything to work, except that. I have a BT 4.2 adapter which is a BCM943602CDP. It all works fine in Mojave but not Catalina. It seems that nobody can get it to work so I'm asking here.

Not the longest I have seen but it is better to attach such long logs as a text file as opposed to posting directly.

What is your hardware ID?
You can disable SIP and then enable the continuity flag for your board.
First you need to mount rw:
mount -uw /
For my cMP 5,1 the line to enable Continuity would be:
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set:Mac-F221BEC8:ContinuitySupport true" "/System/Library/Frameworks/IOBluetooth.framework/Versions/A/Resources/SystemParameters.plist"
Substitute your board ID for "Mac-F221BEC8" and try it.
You can enable SIP after that.
You might also have to set the whitelist in one of the plugins. But that is not reqired on all boards.
sudo -E perl -pi -e "s/\Mac-00BE6ED71E35EB86/\Mac-F221BEC8\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0/" /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortBrcm4360.kext/Contents/MacOS/AirPortBrcm4360

Is there a hackintosh thread? I have some questions regarding about running Catalina on a Hp 6300 pro mt pc. Along with any advice on running Mac OS on this computer. I plan on getting this as a daily work/ school computer. Is there any any recommendations on graphics cards or anything, I have found multiple Reddit and other guides on this. But I would like to know if anyone posting on this thread has had any experience with hackintosh. If so suggest any recommendations because this is the first time I’m hackintoshing, I mean I guess I have been hackintoshing in a way by running Catalina on my MacBook Pro 7,1.

Hi all,

I try to do a clean install of macOS Catalina 10.15.7 on a MacBook 7,1 but every time I get a message saying "Installation of macOS could not continue. Installation requires downloading important content. That content can't be downloaded at this time. Try again later." I have already tried to re-download Catalina from Dosdude AND Apple and I get the same error both times. At first I was getting the message that the installer is damaged, but this got solved by removing installinfo.plist from SharedSupport. I have also tried to modify the DATE on the installer via terminal and I still get the same error. The Time command from terminal always worked... Now even this doesnt... Can anyone help please ? I really need to install Catalina. Thanks !
I had this problem, in my case it’s solved converting the disc to APFS, I think the option was in disk utility in Edit from option bar.

I can tell you that it worked in the past on mine, but I did 10.15.6 instead of 10.15.7. I would suggest to try this patcher instead looks like he added support to 10.15.7

But yes my drive was formatted as apfs for the install. I would suggest duel booting with Mojave or the supported OS just in case something breaks. But definitely keep the patched usb drive on hand if any updates are to break something critical to booting like kexts. I am curious to how can I make a bootable recovery on the internal ssd, that is patched with Dos dues patcher tools on it. Because last time I checked the option to have recovery patch it didn’t have any of the patcher tools in it.

I have not been able to find instruction on installing updates to Catalina on unsupported Mac. The last couple of updates (.6,.7) I have redownloaded the full installer and created a USB drive and reinstalled Catalina. Isn't there an easier way? Can someone point me to instructions?
