One can make the OpenCoreAPFSloader3 USB two ways -
•Using a new USB2 plug formatted OS X Extended (Journaled) or
•On the v.1.4.4 patcher USB on a separate partition. Since the OpenCoreAPFSloader3 is tiny at 34.7MB, make the smallest partition Disk Utility will permit on the patcher USB and install there. The result is a dual-boot installer USB.
If the CatalinaOTAswufix.app was previously successful, booting into the OpenCoreAPFSloader3 partition will reveal "macOS installer" as one of the items to select and will complete the update process to a <option> reboot back into the USB installer partition to re-patch and Force Rebuild Caches. *** If "macOS installer" is NOT one of the items to select in OpenCoreAPFSloader3, go to /Library/Updates and delete everything in the folder and re-run CatalinaOTAswufix.app to
start over. Make certain the OTAUpdateFix button is selected early-on.
