I managed to install19H512 the way you did, but couldn't see any wifi networks at first. Tried to run the Post-install patches several times. SMC and PRAM didn't help either. Only after running OnyX everything was fine again.

Now I saw, that the firmware version of my AirPort Extreme is "Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.106.98.102.31)". Would it be a good idea to check the "Broadcom BCM4321"(?)-option in Dosdude1's patcher manually from now on?

The v.1.4.4 Patcher also D/L a full macOS installer, it may be 19H2? I haven't tried to use the built-in D/L function since using gibMacOS.
Just checked, patcher 1.4.4 downloads installer version 15.7.02 which is 19H2
(according to post 1; is there a way to see the build number from the downloaded installer app without installing? I see the build number of the system used to build the installer, in DTSDKBuild).

EDIT: sorry for the noise, found this via Google -
- locate BaseSystem.dmg in the installer app's Contents/SharedSupport and open with double click
- look at macOS Base System/System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist
I put this here for my future reference.
Unless there is an easier way...

gibMacOS lists versions that can be downloaded. https://github.com/corpnewt/gibMacOS
Latest download version of Catalina appears to be 19H15
I suppose you can use gibMacOS to do the download, then use patcher to make the patched installer USB.

Thank you. Yes, normally I'm using gibMacOS or MDT nowadays - just wanted to check what patcher 1.4.4 gives - and then had to look closer within the installer app for the build number.

Last change date for v.1.4.4 was 5/28/2020, so 19H2 makes sense. A patcher built with 19H15 seems to the best approach for flawless updates in sequence all the way to the 19H1009 from yesterday.

Had to delete everything in the /Library/Updates ƒ to get CatalinaOTAswufix.app to work after applying both buttons and the OTA Update Fix early on. Also, SilentKnight to get MRT to 1.72 and of course, the Validation Patch Update. 2nd Mini upped, both run as expected.

First, I would like to thank @dosdude1 and @jackluke for their incredible work and continuous support helping running a newer system on unsupported hardware.

I have a mid-2011 iMac (imac12,1) with a Radeon HD 4670 (it is enough for not having graphics glitches and transparency works) running 19H2, minus AirDrop (Atheros WiFi) and other stuff that relies on Bluetooth BLE. Even Apple TV video was working somewhat. I also applied @highvoltage12v fixes for QuickSync/SandyBridge (maybe it helped with Apple TV, I am not sure). Then I tried to use CatalinaOTAswufix and it seemed to have applied the latest Security Update (2021-02-03 / 19H1009), but then entered boot loops even after re-applying Catalina Patcher post install patches. I could load Catalina in Safe Mode tho, so I re-applied QuickSync/SandyBridge fixes and I could boot back in normal mode. Patch Updater did its magic and I also used SilentKnight to update MRT. Maybe this helps someone else with trouble updating.

Thanks a lot again. Regards.

Has anyone with a Late 2009 iMac 27 w/ i7 successfully upgraded the WiFi card from G to AC?

I've found an upgrade kit online, but at $159 it seems rather pricy for what it is.

Successfully updated my late 2009 iMac 11,1 to 19H512 using CatalinaOTAswufix.
Booting was done using OpenCore 0.6.6. The installation went completely unattended over night and the system booted to the login screen after finishing the update where it went to sleep automatically - the same way as it would have installed on a supported machine.
After waking it up I logged in and the Patch Updater tried to install the patches but failed silently - it requested the restart quite too quickly so I was sure it didn't actually install the patches.
So I had to right click open the Patch Updater in /Applications/Utilities and it managed to successfully install the patches and rebuild the caches; after the restart everything was working again.

Tried SilentKnight to install the latest updates for my Catalina 10.15.7 (19H2).
Mac restarted but use seemed to boot up, no evidence of it installing the Security Update.
Checked System Report> Software> Installations and it is listed but SilverKnight is still seeing
it as an available update, Build Number has not changed from 19H2.

I have tried CatalinaOTAswufix but it only offers Developer Betas, so where can I download a version
of the CatalinaOTAswufix that will download the public releases.

Thanks.

According to jackluke #10,268 :
disabling beta settings in the softwareupdate prefpane should then show the public-release updates only.

MBP5,2 is now also on beta security update 2021-002 (19H1009), on external SSD.

Used CatalinaOTAswufix to find and patch the update, OC4b to boot macOS installer (needed for installation on USB target for legacy USB machine), Patcher 1.4.4 for post-install patches with forced cache rebuild. Then in Catalina Patch Updater to redo Library Validation Disabler and Night Shift patches, and SilentKnight for MDT, Gatekeeper, XProtect updates.

Thanks to you dosdude1 and jackluke, and the continued support provided by your tools, my MBP5,2 is running very well with Catalina. No need for a better machine for 1-2 more years.

New XProtect and MRT versions, avail. Good description of the update procedure.

Just did this and got on build 19H1009 but I can't find any references to 19H1009. How does it compare to 19H512?

Hello,
Successfully installed security update Beta macOS 10.15.7 (19H1009) on MBP 8,2 (2011). OS seems more "fluid"in terms boot up and apps opening as compared to 9H515. Used CatalinaOTAswufix (thanks very much Jackluke) straight forward finishing with reinstall via DosDude 1.44 patcher

Mini3,1 upped to 19H1009 from 19H512 w/CatalinaOTAswufix a few days ago at #13,556 and concur w/@zfrogman's assessment. So far, absolutely no issues. Security Betas have been very solid. This may be the best Catalina V, yet. YMMV

Hi, i discovered new problem with 4K HEVC, on my iMac 2009 with GeForce9400 graphics. I first though that problem is only with Photos app, but as I try to open same video in Quicktime same thing = Windows manager crash and im back on Login screen. I can choppy play it in 3rd party player probably with software codec
1080p HEVC works fine, and I'm not expecting 4k to be played smoothly on this old machine but crashing back to login screen every time when browsing in Photos and there is any 4k video in line
Thanks for advice

I'd been using Catalina happily on my mid-2009 MBP (MacBookPro5,5) for a couple of months, when one day the system froze and restarted. From that point on, I've not been able to get WiFi working, it's as if there's no WiFi card installed. I've tried rebooting into the Catalina installer and running the post-install patches (with and without the Broadcom patch selected) and following the instructions in this StackExchange link with no luck.

I found someone in this post saying to post the Card Type found when running System Profiler in Terminal, but there's no "Card Type" listed in the output. I've attached the full System Profiler output, and pasted the Wi-Fi section below:

Wi-Fi: Software Versions: CoreWLAN: 13.0 ((null)) CoreWLANKit: 13.0 ((null)) Menu Extra: 13.0 ((null)) System Information: 12.0 (1500) IO80211 Family: 12.0 (1200.12.2) Diagnostics: 1.0 (910) AirPort Utility: Not Installed

Also for reference, the output of ioreg -l | grep "board-id" is <"Mac-F2268AC8">

Does anyone have any suggestions, before I commit to reinstalling again?
