same machine as mine. And it worked for me. Download the latest dosdude patcher tool. Then download a copy of catalina with this tool. Create a new usb installer then with this usb drive. Do not the past install patch. Do not disable SIP. Just run and install. This should work.

Try re-downloading a new installer, and also try a different USB drive.

That is normal. After Apple released the public beta, using the macOS Downloader application pulled down 15.0.16, the first public beta, instead of 15.0.15, the second developer seed.

It won't work on a 2018 Mac unless you disable the awful T2 chip "security" features. Do this by booting into Recovery Mode, and using the Startup Security Utility to enable external device booting, and disable any security features.

Also, if you intend to attempt to install Linux on a newer Mac, the T2 security chip likewise needs to be disabled.

Unfortunately I cannot get Catalina to install. I have downloaded Catalina Patch, ESDDmg.pkg. Everything went fine, When I go to the MAC OS install it still says it's not supported on this Mac.
Thanks

Apart from the stock wifi card. If you need wifi you must invest in an upgrade kit. J just found an usb ac wifi + bluetooth 4.2 stick (£7.99) They provide MAC drivers for 10.14! So maybe it will even work on cat. I think I will order one tomorrow and see how it goes. Cheers

- Developer Previews & Public Betas:

Date:Developer Preview / Public Beta:Build:Notes:
2019062410.15 PB119A487mSame as DP2
2019061710.15 DP219A487l 19A487mStill works with MP5,1, still no AirPortBrcm4331.kext. Better/less buggier native NVIDIA Kepler support. In place update won't work. Same Sidecar block as DP1
2019060310.15 DP119A471tWorks with MP5,1, no AirPort Extreme kext. Very buggy NVIDIA Kepler native support. Sidecar is blocked on a MP5,1

Is there a new beta out? Your build number ends in "m" whereas mine is the same, but ending in "l". Or is that just public vs. developer beta?

Just finished another update to Catalina Patcher, which now includes an all-new, fully-automated post-install tool! While it can still be applied manually just like older post-install tool versions, this new one will now be applied automatically for you once the Catalina installation completes, with all the optimal patches for your machine pre-determined.

I haven't implemented in-place installation yet. As of now, you'll need to create a bootable USB installer, boot from that, and install from there.
Will try that dosdude1
[doublepost=1561933421][/doublepost]Do I still need the Catalina patch also & do I download it to the usb also?

I'm not quite sure that I am seeing the automatic post-installation on a MacPro 3,1. This was my first attempt at installing DP2 over DP2 using the Reinstall macOS. However at the end, I got a reboot and no recognition of the usb keyboard. Rebooting under the patched DP2 key and applying the post-install scripts didn't help which makes me wonder if the prelinked kernel is not getting rebuilt after the first boot. I'll try again forcing the cache to be rebuilt.

Forcing a cache rebuild solved the problem. It would be nice if the post-install had a way to automatically detect if the prelinked kernel was out of sync with the current set of kext and automatically force the cache to rebuild in such cases.

Clean usb 16gb. Installed patch, downloaded OS to it. Install OS came up but will not let it install. Have no idea on what's happening, other than me.........

didn't really pay attention much ,I did used dosdude1 beta4 download a copy for it.
[doublepost=1561937644][/doublepost]I can confirm dosdude1 Catalina beta5 success with post-install tool patch applied automatically after the Catalina system is installed, great job.
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) was used.

@dosdude1,

You indicated previously that you will include an "APFS Patch" for Catalina from a previous post. Didn't see it in the screenshot. Are you still planning to do so?

Thanks for your excellent tools!

Yes, that will come in the next release, maybe the one after.

Since the post install patches are now automatically applying, the APFS patch should default to not being installed on Catalina since it is a royal PITA to get it completely off of your drive (for those who have applied the APFS ROM patch).

As of DP2/PB1, it seems that two processes are constantly crashing, causing poor system performance. To disable those processes, run the following commands in Terminal (ignore //AppleInternal... error), then reboot the system:
Code:
sudo mount -uw /
sudo rm /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.universalaccessd.plist
sudo rm /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.PerfPowerServices.plist

I get a file not found error.

Edit: Nevermind I must have made a typing error. A copy paste worked.
