Did you try to replace it manually like I wrote earlier?
Cmd-I gives the info pane, where usually you can highlight the icon in the top left and Cmd-c ( copy ) then cmd-v (paste) to change the icon to desired one
This does not happen in macOS Catalina the icon stays the same. Try it you cannot change icons

Use the instructions for Mojave on the RMC website but with the newer patcher downloaded and put -legacy-prelinkedkernel at the end. So an example command would be: “sudo ~/Downloads/release-10.15/macOS\ Patcher.sh -legacy-prelinkedkernel”

Hi, @0403979, I successfully created an installer for my MB 4.1, and the first period of the installation going smoothly with the installer disk created, but the installation won't continue after the reboot due to lack of APFS support, I think there should be an APFS patch installed on this model before installing Catalina. Do you have any ideas? Thanks!

You have to use the APFS ROM Patcher. Here’s an excerpt from the Mojave forum about it:

APFS ROM Patcher:
Warning: This tool could irreversibly brick your EFI chip. Please exercise caution with machines that have multiple EEPROM definitions. Relevant information can be found here and here. The APFS ROM patcher can be found here. Use the password apfs to decrypt the ZIP.”

Hopefully this works for you. It should run without issue on the MB4,1 as it did with mine.

On this windows for 10-15 minutes, how long it take usually, any idea?

Dear Dosdude,
I thank you first of all for your job and for the Mojave's patches and I also sent you a little donation, through PayPal.
I used your patches with my MacBook Pro (mid 2010) and with a MacBook Unibody 2008 and MBP (mid 2010) of my two daughters. Everything has always worked well, but I want to tell you about an issue that - in my opinion - could be used to check if also with macOS Catalina the patcher works very well.

Issue description
Moving from an old release to a new major release of Mojave, in fact, it sometimes happened that the Powerpoint slideshow did not starting and the screen remained black.
In an alternative way, the issue disappeared with a release of Mojave (eg: 10.14.3), but it returned with a following major version (10.14.4)...
Now, with Mojave 10.14.5, the slideshow of MS Powerpoint 2019 or of MS Powerpoint 365 works well!

This is the only fault found. Everything else has always worked without ever giving problems! Therefore remember to always do this test: start MS Powerpoint 365 or 2019 and check that the presentation mode works and that the screen does not remain black.

It's all
Thank you! You are a true genius!
Enjoy

That's a MacBook6,1, which supports High Sierra, and therefore APFS booting, natively. I'll be updating the tool soon with a software APFS-booting implementation for machines that don't support doing so natively, once I get it all worked out.

i thought there wasn't anyway for the post-install patcher to detect when the APFS ROM patch was applied to an unsupported Mac or have you puzzled that out?

A very long time, sometimes almost an hour. Just do NOT quit the program, let the machine go to sleep mode, or turn the machine off, otherwise it will brick your system.

Although sometimes it can be surprisingly fast. On my MacPro 3,1, the APFS ROM patcher applied in less than five minutes.

CloneToolX is progressing. I started writing a helper app that can launch the software with sudo for users who will be using it within a regular OS. I found a flaw in other daemon implementations that unlocks and accesses root's home directory, which my helper app will NOT do for security purposes.

Latest DP3/PB2 release of Catalina WORKS with all current patches, INCLUDING the Legacy non-Metal video card patch! The current Catalina Patcher version can download and install it no problems.

Thank you! Is the autoupdate of betas supported or every new betas should be installed only through the Patcher?
[doublepost=1562097120][/doublepost]
Yes, unfortunately they do... I'm afraid there's a chance those issues may not be solvable on non-Metal GPUs, but we'll see what can be figured out.
What else to expect from this Catalina? Only to say: see you later sleeping stone alligator!:)

Finally apple has decided to don't deliver more the full Catalina Installer (previously 6,5 gb), but starting from this Catalina beta 3 the OTA download size is the screen attached, however it's a supported Mac, so I ask to @dosdude1 and @0403979 have you managed to get OTA updates detected from a Catalina unsupported Mac through "Software Update" ?

Because the Czo "software update patch" doesn't work more (since Catalina beta 1).

[doublepost=1562101947][/doublepost]No problem here getting full installer for DP3 (15.0.17 @ 6,818,977,550 bytes)
