Any aspect you want to have digged into? - I barely ever use Reminders, so I don't know what might be important to you.

I haven't upgraded Reminders on the iCloud end (hence the upgrade sign), because I still use Mojave and iOS 12 as daily drivers, and only use this as a dev platform. Upgrading on iCloud would make the iCloud data only work on the newer platforms, so Reminders there are local only.

Wow, I don't know if the upgrade of the database was documented publicly. That's interesting that it requires an upgrade on the iCloud backend to make it sync. I suppose with file attachments and other things they needed to do that.

Using Apple's Reminders blurb on their preview page as a guide, could you try to look into grouped lists (and possible nested reminders?), what it looks like in customizing the list appearance, what the new edit buttons toolbar looks like, the attachment flow, tagging someone, and smart lists? I will take a deep dive myself when the public beta is released. Thanks!

It typically isn't. They usually don't say it in advance - Same with all the times Photos has upgraded the library.

... I'm going to try and get around as much of that as I can...

So on the left there you can see there are two lists.
On the right is what the suggestion thing works. It uses natural language to read the reminder and suggest what the metadata is vs the actual reminder.

Right clicking a group gets you this context-menu

Inviting people to a Reminders list:

I sadly can't show you groups without updating the database:

upload_2019-6-12_20-42-58.png

But here's the Preferences menu
upload_2019-6-12_20-43-38.png

It gives you a clean overview of reminders today and for future.

Either I couldn't find any of the other new features, or it requires the database update - probably the latter.
Sorry.

This is great though. Thanks for digging as much as you could. Last q: Do you see any integration with Reminders and Calendars? Back before Yosemite there was some integration such that Reminders with a due date showed up in Calendar for that day. It would be great if they brought that back.

Not as far as I can tell, but it's possible it'll be there with an updated database, if Calendar looks for the new data structure. Calendar does boast this when opened for the first time

So if it can find in Safari, Messages and Mail, you'd think Reminders would be an obvious place to look too.

Though that could be a design choice to avoid double-reminders from both apps or something

Ah. Hardcoded RGB values instead of semantic color/variable colours.

I have weak eyesight, but if you tell me a menu to screenshot I can so you can tell for yourself.
Could you screenshot the Finder > Services menu? That menu always has this problem. Thanks so much!

how is voice control working? I'm so excited that it could replace dragon dictation for me. (I'm a writer, and it's nice to be able to not type everything. I don't need it to be as fully featured, as long as I can still jump around the document with my voice and it can keep up with writing.

Well, depends how your accent is I guess. How well do you feel the current dictation works for understanding you? And Siri for that matter? It's the same voice-to-text engine inside - perhaps refined a bit.

But the actual commands for navigation, including sentence/document navigation are bang on excellent. Jump to words, starts of paragraphs/sentences, ends, do corrections, deletions - anything you'd want.

I can't verify every swear, but it at least copes well enough with ****. You may wind up in trouble if you try and have it spell dicktrombone, but if you don't get too creative with your swearing you're probably good. **** works

Perfect. I'm just thinking of books and characters do say bad words from time to time. Thanks for checking.

With Catalina Reminders, can you repeat a reminder *some period of time* "after completion" (Example: 30 days after completion) This is a capability in many to-do apps (I currently use Things 3), but has never been part of Reminders.

Did the Apple Books app get updated to more closely match the Books app from iOS 12?

Repeating reminders are supported, yes. But ranged repeats, I haven't seen or made work, so I don't think that specifically is there.

Don't judge the naming too hard... There's a reason... It's my old teachers' PDF naming scheme...
Anyways, I couldn't remember how it looked before, so there's what it looks like now at least.

So you have a California/American accent. Everybody’s got one lmao.
So you're somebody who would "well actually" just about everyone huh? Yes, I'm aware I have a west coast I have an accent, I'm referring to the the computer software being designed about thirty minutes from where I'm born, so that in terms of the software having an issue with my voice, it seems unlikely.

Well actually!... No, sorry couldn't help myself. You left that one well open for that joke ;) (Just to be clear I'm not the one you replied to there, I just thought I'd chime in again - I'm the guy who originally answered your question about Voice Control's ability to perhaps replace Dragon dictation for you)

Anyways, chiming in again;
Despite being maintained by Apple in Cali, Siri works way better in Spanish actually, because the language is way more phonetically consistent, thus lending itself better to computer speech-to-text software. Though when it comes to English accents you should be good :)
I'm Danish myself though my accent is more hybrid after travelling a lot and just generally being exposed to English from many different accent-angles. - In any case, my point is that it works well for me the majority of the time, so you definitely should be good to go.
