Is that the problem where the dialog box shows up saying the network cannot be found?
Yes, that's the one.

@Barry K. Nathan
I think it could be useful for people using your micropatcher to add in step 15 that the terminal entries here are case sensitive. There were many problems in the past of newbies not knowing that.
THX
You are right but you also saw how often we had to clear this? ;-)I disagree, people installing this should know the basics.
Hi everybody,
I'm a newbie here. Thanks to Barry and the others, I was able to install Big Sur on my Mac Mini 2011 using the 0.3.1 micropatcher (external SSD on USB 2)
It seems to work ok (including Wifi), but I'm a bit disappointed by the overall responsiveness of the system. It seems so sluggish.
I guess that is because of the HD3000 non-metal GPU. Disabling the animations and the transparency is better but it's not usable as a day to day real production computer. And that is without talking of the constant full speed fan noise.
I think it is time for my venerable Mini to get a much deserved retirement.
Looking forward for the ARM units...

True!..That would be so cool if he if he checks in this week!..not rushing him in any way of course.Gm should be out any day.Hmmm. I can still see him as the original poster of the first message, and it appears he can still be reached via a private message. It's true it's been a long time since he wrote last, but perhaps he's doing research on his own as time allows.

Using Catalina, VRAM is 1536 MB. I don't know why it is 512 under Big Sur. Is there a magical terminal command to increase that?NVRAM is only 512 MB, not a lot, it's 1536 MB on my 2012 Mac Mini.
Hello,Notes:
- Patching has to be done from the booted BigSur using the terminal command line. There is a call/hack to the system_profiler to get info about the installed GPU.
- Currently I did only a single tests with the 2009/2010 iMacs. The micro patched Apple installer switches off the machine after a few seconds.
- I could not make the installer work directly on the iMacs having a metal AMD Polaris based GPU. The lack of the EFI boot screen makes it nearly impossible to to this. Possibly the USBopencore may work to circumvent this problem.
Since there's disagreement about whether this change to step 15 would be good, and I haven't seen anyone have case sensitivity problems in the complaints I've gotten via GitHub, etc. (yes I saw lots of command problems, but none of it involved case sensitivity) I think I won't make this change for now. I can always make the change later if it turns out I'm wrong about this.I disagree, people installing this should know the basics.
Man I don't even know how to thank you, thank you very much, really, you were amazing.

Beta 9 also has a full installer, it just came out a day after the delta update.Hello mate,
I noted that you're Brazilian too, what's the steps that you did use to upgrade your BS??
If you want (I believe that is better), please send me a DM here and we talk in private to solved this.
I've a MacBook Pro 9,1 (Mid 2012 no retina) and I'm in Beta 6 cause the others are Delta and I can't upgrade with @Barry K. Nathan patcher.
Beta 9 also has a full installer, it just came out a day after the delta update.

Where I find the Beta 9's pkg to use your method??
Maybe you missed it, but the Language Chooser problem was a bug in the micropatcher and I fixed it in v0.3.1.Installing BS B9 (on the original internal HD) on iMac 21 late 2013 (iMac14.1) exactly as succesfully done for Beta 3, two months ago: only @ASentientBot hax3 patch (really simple installer hack) , startiing installer directly from Catalina 10.15.7 without createinstaller or any kext patcher, to verify if it also in this way it stucks at languange configuration. @jackluke @Barry K. Nathan
Please can somebody help me? I had a perfect working big sur on my iMac and, without thinking, I stupidly reset the PRAM with Ctrl-Alt-P-R! Now nothing works anymore and I have a blank screen at startup. I tried to re-apply set-bars.sh from the USB key but it doesn’t work... I really need your help
Wow, thank you! Then I'll try also with micropatcher v.0.3.1 + USBOpenCoreLoader4s on Mac mini 2010Maybe you missed it, but the Language Chooser problem was a bug in the micropatcher and I fixed it in v0.3.1.
Damn apple are pushing OSs as they are pushing IOSs they just want to force people to upgrade against their well. I have a MacBook Pro 2012 with 1TB ssd and 16 gigs of Ram , been working great with Catalina and its a monster machine that can run another good 3 years.
