That would seem to include the 2012 Mac Minis, which have been desupported anyway. Gotta make people buy a new one!
To download a full "Install macOS Big Sur.app", from Catalina as many reported can be used CatalinaOTAswufix, while if you are already on BigSur beta, since it's locked with snapshot booting, you should use this: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...unsupported-macs-thread.2242172/post-28740283
The BigSurOTAswufix (should work also on Mojave HFS+) requires AMFI disabled (nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check amfi_get_out_of_my_way=1"), you can use this ASentientBot method and reboot:
After reboot just open BigSurOTAswufix and click "Software Update fix" button, don't worry it won't allow you to proceed with an OTA update or OTA full install, because the supported BigSur machine is not spoofed, after a reboot "Software Update" is again stock, so it just would let you to download a full install app from Software Update prefpane directly on the Applications folder.

Just search release catalog file, not seed.
yup all I can say is there update servers are jack the heck out. Have a contact who works for apple pr and marketing.......five minutes after it was released in California they had 2.5 million download requests! I'm at about 3 hours right now with a direct fiber connection that average about 2GBps

I have Big Sur RC2 completely working (excepted SIRI) and quite fast on Mac mini 2010 and iMac 2013 (very fast and acceleration, 30 minutes installation)
@jackluke thanks for your work!! i wanted to ask a question, I got a MBP mid 2012 and be able to test various betas with Barry patcher and wifi fix, lately I noticed my MBP getting really hot (almost 100c). I saw you also developed a installer, do you think it will make any difference? Or know what might be causing it? Haven’t installed too much stuff and don’t know if it is a Big Sur problem... maybe anyone having the same issue?

Use Activity monitor which process is using a lot of resources, especially the CPU tab.
I currently have a 2013 iMac 27 inches. when i tried to download the latest update from the app store it says "Update not found" but when i try with my new macbook pro it works, what do i need to install the latest version?

Right, BigSur since beta1 caused on any unsupported Mac overheating (I have even a doubt that those few who EFI bricked instead of OTA spoofing was a logic board overheat), because smc sensors are not correctly detected (probably are required some AppleSMC*.kext patches), I made a simple app from BigSur recovery environment, based on this: https://github.com/hholtmann/smcFanControl
I attach also my customised shell app, run it directly from Downloads folder, then open terminal use
sudo -s and drag and drop "smc.command", for your MBP to detect average temperature use "CPU temp for Ivy Bridge" function.Or you can use Macs Fan Control but "Auto" on BigSur won't work, just customise your CPU temperature range for adeguate RPM speed.

The final Big Sur release is taking a while to download, and there's other stuff I have to deal with today, so I might not be able to test it with my patcher until tomorrow. 11.0.1 RC2 works, though, so I expect the final release will as well.
For now I've skipped many pages of old forum posts (roughly 15 pages I'd guess), but I'll see if I can catch up on them later (maybe this weekend?).

That's why I came to this thread, to see if Apple changed what was supported. I have a 2013 iMac that is unsupported and Apple is prompting me to download and install. The App Store page likewise saying it "Works on this Mac."
Hi guys, I'm sure this is a very stupid question and I apologize in advance. To update from a previous beta to the final release, do I have to do a complete fresh install of Big Sur? Thank you for your replies and patience.
I have a 3.1 mac pro and it also says that for me, so I think it is just a glitch / mistake.
If you click on "Works on this Mac" it shows that it is for mac osx 10.9 or later. See the image below.
