I have a MacPro in mid-2012, I am using Catalina thanks to the work of this wonderful community of selfless developers, I am holding on a little longer before installing Big Sur (Is getting difficult everyday to hold this excitement 😅😂), and I want to give a BIG THANK YOU TO ALL for allowing me to enjoy a lot more of this wonderful machine.

Still trying to get the Big Sur installer. Seems that the mentioned URLs do not work anymore.
Just started another download to test the performance, using the link in posts #5982 and #6079. It is managing about 1Gb per minute. Last night it was not working properly. Started the download before gong to bed and it was still only 20% complete in the morning. Stopped all downloads and deleted any incomplete files. Restarted the iMac about 3 hours ago and download speed has been acceptable since.
Suggest that you abandon the current download, delete any files and do a shut down.
ps just stopped the download after 6 Gb. there's no point in stressing the Apple servers just for the fun of it.

Pure SSD

EDIT:// Will try later, not worth risking a screwup in the middle of a workday.
Using the micro patcher I’m currently installing on my late 2013 iMac to external SSD (internal fusion for Catalina). Betas have all been running well.

Like you I do need to get on with work though!

Finally upgraded my install of Catalina on my internal SSD on late 2013 iMac after running the Big Sur beta's on an external SSD.. No going back now :)

Thanks @Barry K. Nathan for your work on the micropatcher !
Obviously internal SSD will be quicker, but I’ve found Big Sur quicker on an external SSD via usb than Catalina on internal fusion! If I do end up installing internally I’ll probably split the fusion drive.

Hi to all hardware experts here!
@jackluke @ASentientBot @Barry K. Nathan @dosdude1
On Macmini 2010, since I have installed an internal Barracuda 500 GB SSD months ago (perfectly working), I have a strange bug not caused by S.I.P, present on Catalina but also on BigSur: if I simply restart the system, it loads for a while then stops with forbidden symbol; if I completely switch off the Mac mini, it loads without issues. Any idea about how I can fix this?

It finally worked. I managed to download it. It was a browser issue. Thank you all for your replies!

Can I use this with 2011 MacBook Pro with updated WiFi card for coninuity
Sorry, I don't have the answer, I think it you can with an updated card but not 100% sure.
There are answers in this thread, if no-one reacts to your question I would suggest to read the manual on Micropatchers web site and/or search this very thread or another way is to read the last 5-10 pages of this thread, you'll also learn from reading at least some pages, takes a bit but it might help.

I installed it on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro. It’s running awesome, no idea why it’s not officially supported.
Exactly, I said this multiple times, I have a 2012 cMBP (And a 2012 Mac Mini), sold until November 2016, so if someone bought this MBP 4 years ago he/she got less than 5 years of OS support, can't remember that Apple dropped support for a mac less than 5 years old.

Micro patcher 0.5.1
Big Sur 11.0.1 (20B2029)
iMac 2011 with AMD Radeon RX560 mobile (WX4170)

Auto detection of GPU works, auto detection of WiFi works, installation and patching is working!
4K H.265 and 4K HEVC is working!

Hi all, iMac late 2012 here.
before I try to make it work on a half dead HDD (only SSD 128GB is alive)... I need to double check:

I downloaded wrong one haven't I? 20B28 (it should be 20B29 ?).
I guess the link shared was not final release but a beta? I am out of touch with everything, so if anyone able to share a working apple link of the latest pckg, it would be awesome.
Don't know what you did but that link is the Big Sur release, I did not link to the wrong URL.

I had a question. Since I have the mid 2011 27 inch imac with upgraded metal GPU but not upgraded wifi card do I need to install any ktext after using the big sur patcher 0.51. Will the brightness issue get solved? Since you have done great on imac 2011 it would be great to have your inputs besides thanks to Nathan, Jackluke and others who have made this possible for unsupported macs. Will the wifi work.

Everything should work after patching. It would really help if you add you hardware to your signature including the GPU and the OC version your are using, if any...There is no brightness issue. The solution has been posted with every particular BIOS.
