Everything should work after patching. It would really help if you add you hardware to your signature including the GPU and the OC version your are using, if any...There is no brightness issue. The solution has been posted with every particular BIOS.
Thanks for your immediate reply. yes will add hardware to my signature. I have used nick’s bios version 3 i guess for my nivida kepler card 675M initially when I had upgraded the GPU. My machine has built in Atheros wifi card so I know continuity and airdrop will not work but its ok as long as I get Big Sur on my imac. I was actually waiting for the final release.

Hi all,

could a kind soul clarify 2 things?

I have tried to read most of the stuff here but can't find the correct answer.
Maybe there isn't just one … ;)

Given
MacPro 4,1
early 2009 flashed to 5,1 -- > Bootrom 144.0.0.0.0
CPU Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2x 2,26 GHz aka Nehalem --> No Hyper-threading
RAM 48GB DDR3 ECC 1066 MHz
No Wifi Card, just Bluethooth
GPU AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GB --> Metal: Supported, feature set macOS GPUFamily2 v1
MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 --> No Patch!
nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check"
SIP disabled

Updates were done successfully removing SSD and install externaly with a compatible Machine. Put back in. Voila.

Now the 2 questions:
1. Is it still possible to update or freshly install 10.11.01 aka Big Sur on a SSD externaly, put it back in and run it with the boot-args?
2. Would this Machine with its Processor without Hyper-threading options run OpenCore with the possibilitiy of "normal" updating?

Any hint, link to thread or even clear answers would be awesome.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I've just updated my iMac 2010(i7) with K2100 Gpu to 11.0.1. Actually it works but moving of windows or moving the mouse over the dock is slow (During the moving the animation stops and then go on).. Regarding to the MacInfo METAL is supported.

-> I´ve figured out, that Big Sur is only starting with OpenCore where the "SSDT-CPBG.aml" is activated. Without it there is a Bootloop .. ( During the Apple-Logo it goes black and reboots)

Is there someone who has the same iMac and GPU and do not have these performance Problems ?

Thanks ..

The manual said and i done it exactly like this is :

For example, for a system volume named Macintosh HD, try one of the following:
  • /Volumes/Image\ Volume/patch-kexts.sh /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD (was may first choice and worked)
  • '/Volumes/Image Volume/patch-kexts.sh' '/Volumes/Macintosh HD'
  • "/Volumes/Image Volume/patch-kexts.sh" "/Volumes/Macintosh HD"
Replace Macintosh HD with the name of your hard disc where the system is installed .

Can my 2012 cMBP be updated from Mojave to Big Sur without installing Catalina? I went back to Mojave because it would never hibernate with Catalina. Hopefully that's fixed.

Here is my IO80211Family kext version 12.0 if you wan to try it. Of course I'm using an Atheros card at the moment, all my MBPs have been upgraded to the BCM94360 from @troop231 i'll try a Mac mini once I get ahold of one.

A New (Fixed) Airport Kext has been updated to fix BCM94360/BCM943602 Kernel Panics waking from Sleep.

I have a MacBook Pro 2012 (9,2), running Macos Big Sur, without wifi. When i tried this, I have this error on Terminal: “volume could not be mounted: permission denied”
Any help?
Thanks!

Successful install last night on my Mac Mini 2012!

Funny, hours of fighting with it before I figured out my thumb-drive was crap, put installer on a 2.5" portable HD and everything was smooth as butter. Installed ON TOP of my Catalina install, having performed a SuperDuper backup of my OS drive first. Everything works great!

WIFI: One question re WiFi. Seems like it takes forever to find my 5Ghz network, and prefers and defaults the 2.4Ghz network instead, even though the 5Ghz is set up as a higher preferred network in Network Settings. But not even that, it really takes a while to even find the 5ghz network. Curious, what exactly does mojave-hybrid WiFi patch install? Is it Mojave wifi "drivers"? Or something else?

@Barry K. Nathan - YOU ARE THE BEST!

I found the Problem. It seams something wrong with the Logitech Mouse. I´ve tried two(G703) and (503).
A NoName USB-Mouse do not slow down the system during usage .. Strange ..

Macs officially compatible with macOS Catalina but have been dropped from official support in macOS Big Sur:
- These Macs so far are capable of running Big Sur properly, but WiFi is not yet fully stable (except on iMac14,x, i.e. Late 2013 iMacs), and (at least on iMac14,x) Fusion Drive performance is significantly slower than on previous macOS releases. See FAQ for more information.
Hey All, can anyone confirm that this is still the latest info?
I was thinking about putting Big Sur on my Late 2013 iMac (iMac14,x) and want to make sure that I have the latest info about how it will run before hand. If anyone has some experience with that machine I would really appreciate the "help" :)

Have a nice weekend everyone :)

Interesting. Then I wonder why the iMac 2013 was dropped, since that had Nvidia and is definitely more powerful than a MacBook Air 2013.
Wondering the same!
I red something about Intel Security patches somewhere.. the do not longer support the chips that are on board with the iMac 2013. But I don't know if its true. Would like to ask that questions to some Apple officials.

MID 2010 imac I3 wont even boot the usb stick with the patch. I pick EFI boot and it shuts off then I power up and pick Inatall Big Sur and it just loads catalina from the HD.
I thought I would give it a shot but didn't work.
