I posted that in an earlier post yesterday, the sucatalog had changed, thought it was 11.1, found out soon after opening the plist file this was just a re-release of 11.0.1 which seems to fix bugs.

The snapshot (on mine it's called Bless something), is this what I'm actually booting from in Big Sur?
Just getting my head around these new things :)
Thanks!
That's my understanding.

Last night I recovered my latest Catalina backup. After that my personal hotspot connects instantly.
It seems that there's still a little problem with WiFi on an iMac 2012 late.

Another interesting thing. I installed Big Sur last saturday. The last days there where several backups made. While recovering I recognized that macOS should be 10.15. All last made backups are listed with macOS 10.15 even those which were made with Big Sur. How can that be?
Just installed Big Sur again on my iMac. Unfortunatly same result. Personal hotsport doesn't work.

Here's my kext log

Did you try to reset the Bluetooth module? Also, I found it's very helpful to sign out/in of your iCloud on your iPhone. This has fixed so many Handoff/Continuity things for me!

If you want to do my a favour check this version of the patch-kext.sh made for the 0.5.1 micro patcher. Replace the old version on you USB Installer. Boot into Big Sur, open Terminal app and call:

1.
Code:
/Volumes/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur/patch-kexts.sh -u

2. reboot again into Big Sur

3.
Code:
/Volumes/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur/patch-kexts.sh

You can do the same from the Recovery booted into the USB Installer using you VOLUME name of your Big Sur installation according to the docs of the micro patcher.

Ok, so i edited this patch-kexts.sh to force it to run for my 780m and it works fine. I think its an issue with line 665, this won't get the device id due to a permission error. At least not on my setup.

@BeatCrazy
I already tried all that. It seems that it's not a Handoff problem. All other Handoff functions are working.
I can see the Hotspot in the WiFi status and when I click on it, I can see that the hotspot is getting activated on my iPhone. The problem is, that the iMac can't connect to that hotspot

I just fetched the 11.1 (20C5048k) beta url and noticed that apple changed the url folder name from SummerSeed that used till previous builds, this is not a full installer but an OTA full package (installable through ASentientBot "AssetData folder replacing" method after completed the stage1 installer from any BigSur installer):
http://updates-http.cdn-apple.com/2020WinterSeed/patches/001-82556/..._MobileAsset_MacSoftwareUpdate/8d1e60615e1ef6558c0f06289a8839d92f62bdb4.zip

Then on beta catalog I found also this, not sure but reading at the incremental product id number, this should be the full createinstallmedia installer for 11.1 beta :
http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/19/41/001-83532-A.../InstallAssistant.pkg

edit:
The InstallAssistant.pkg is for the build 20B50 (not 11.1 beta).

To fetch these urls I still used my "currently not advisable USBOpenCore4s1 spoofing setup" checking the variations on the Update Volume, don't use that spoofing setup for proceeding with OTA updates directly from Software Update , instead use the Hax InstallAssistant createinstallmedia (or ASentientBot AssetData method) .

Since having setted the NVRAM to start patched installer (months ago), on iMac 2013 I have some difficulties in selecting Big Sur on external SSD from Apple booter. Pressing Alt-Opt from keyboard often it ignores the button pressed and it starts Windows 10 on BootCamp (sometimes internal Catalina or Big sur) with both USB & Bluetooth keyboards. Tried to reset the PRAM unsuccesfully. Also setting Big Sur EXT SSD from startup disk icon in Preferences Panel doesn't solve my issue. Workaround: completely switch off an USB 3.0 7 Ports self 2A powered HUB that probably is interfering. (Note: Ignored USB 3.0 SSDs aren't connected to the HUB but directly to 2 iMac USB ports)
Someone is experiencing the same? Any idea about how to fix/control this issue?

Hey Everyone,

I successfully patched my 2012 Mac Mini to Big Sur using the Micropatcher tool. Coming off a fresh install though, I ran into some post-install issues with my 2012 Mac Mini. Hoping someone can help me out and get me 100% working on my end without any problems.

Background:
Late 2012 Mac Mini i5 with 16GB of Ram (and dual SSD drives). Successfully got patched to MacOS Big Sur and got wifi working with the specific ktexts correctly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Issues:
1. Whenever I restart my machine, and I boot in after logging in, I am presented with the error when a shutdown happens unexpectedly: "You Shut Down Your Computer Because of A Problem...."

Similar Screenshot:
15f5cd102f2ce19c.png

However, I did a normal restart (nothing that required me to force the computer to shutdown or anything). and the error still comes up. Even after multiple restarts, it's still there.

2. Sometimes, if I Shutdown my mac mini, and power it back on. The Display doesn't come on and I have to force it to shutdown (holding power button), and then starting it up again for the display to start working. This isn't a huge deal, but still something that isn't working properly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If anyone could offer any assistance, I'd super appreciate it. Please let me know if I can provide any additional details to assist in the troubleshooting process.

Thanks,
Asif

Seems apple take awareness of EFI bricking on supported BigSur Mac (both Haswell architecture as iMac14,1 BigSur unsupported):

I also read that the new BigSur 20B50 update blocks the update on those affected machines, making them temporary unsupported.

If you share the details of how you have things setup it may help with a solution , I have a 2012 mac mini that has none of those problems , and not really sure of what you mean in saying " and I boot in after logging in " as mine just boots up and I logon and ready to go

Sure, so let me be more clear:

1. Power up the machine normally (or restart without holding the power button down).
2. Log in without problem.
**Presented with the, "You shut down your computer because of a problem..." error message.

The error message is consistent and always comes up right after logging in. I would only expect this to come up if I shutdown in a non-standard way (holding the power button down).

In terms of setup, I followed the micro-patcher installation to get things up and running. I did do a clean install (format my startup disk using Disk Utility and then installed Big Sur) which I thought would make things a bit easier in terms of installing fresh.

If there is any additional information I can provide, please let me know. Thank you in advance for all of your time and help, it is greatly appreciated!

I've successfully installed Big Sur 11.0.1 on my late 2012 Mac Mini; everything works as expected, meaning all is well except WiFi, but that's ok for me.
Overall, I'm underwhelmed; biggest annoyance so far is that Carbon Copy Cloner can't create clone backups anymore...

I can confirm that Carbon Copy Cloner beta 5.1.23-b5 make clone backup bootable for Big Sur :)

I make a clone of my iMac mi 2011 on a USB SSD disk and I reboot with the USB SSD disk :)

Your logs may have the answer to the problem, check them.

I have no problems either with the same Mac Mini, same as TA 455SD

You are correct -- BS 20B50 does block install for the 2013-14 MBP's as explained in detail by Mr Macintosh in his blog section.

I also have 2012 Mac mini. Do you have problems with top bar taking something like 20s to load? Also the screensaver are lagging hard. Something like 2-3 fps. Do you have any problems like these? Maybe I should do a clean install?

Open Console, your System log is there.

For timestamp purposes, I restarted my machine at 2PM (14:00) to make it easy. So, I am copying just that section of the log in the link above. Please let me know if I can share anything else to assist in the troubleshooting process.

Thanks!
