the kexts are only guaranteed for MacBook Pro although the same kexts are used at startup for the iMac as well so my modified kexts may work but I’m not guaranteeing it because I don’t own a 2011 iMac!
Long story short:

After you have published your extension (and testing with the iMac/macBook) I would add them to my fork of the micro patcher - @Barry K. Nathan has a time off and development on the main fork stopped some days ago.

@Ausdauersportler I would like to make a suggestion of 1st page of video card spoiler. You have mentioned pre metal card intel hd3000. This card is built in in the macbook Air mid 2011.
Though it supports Big Sur however, accelerations is not very good. If you open preview, or couple of windows the screen is left with dragging window pixilation or sometimes just the transparent window boundary. So accelerations is not fully supported as I physically have experienced and perhaps you can put an annexure next to this card. It works very slow the graphics.

Hi!

I separated the unsupported cards from the Metal family and added a new spoiler for "Not supported Video Cards" to avoid any misreading and misunderstanding.

I was just curious if anyone has tried to see what SMB transfer rates were on their unsupported Macs on Big Sur? Last night I tried transferring a big file over 1g ethernet and would get about 150MB/sec, then it would slow to a crawl about 10MB/sec for a long while, then send another blast around 150MB/sec. It would cycle like this over and over. The end result was a pretty slow transfer. I have Big Sur on a supported Mac and it doesn't have that issue. I tried the iMac ethernet port as well as a Thunderbolt 2 ethernet adapter and both did the same thing. Not sure why it's happening.

Anyone experience this?

Hello everyone, let's see if you can help me, I have a usb with catalina loader (opencore 0.6.3), for the spelling that I have changed to my iMac 2011, I have configured it with the .plist file for bigsur, but I have a problem, in Catalina I could choose it as a boot disk, but in big sur it doesn't appear in system settings, choose boot disk.
Known unsolved issue. Please add a signature to your account. Guessing your hardware is really difficult for me.

Sorry to be that guy but I'm getting this error using Patched Sur. Would this be the best patch for the system I'm trying to install BS on?

Our machines are different spec-wise but my installation ran smoothly using the BKN process by using a mixture of these two guides
https://forums.macrumors.com/thread....2242172/page-241?post=29221192#post-29221192

https://github.com/barrykn/big-sur-micropatcher

The first two times I had to run the kexts patcher at the end but only because I hadn't upgraded the wifi/BT card.
I have now done that so I don't have to run patch-kexts any more.
This method means you won't be able to get OTA updates from Apple so any new versions would need to be installed in this same way.

If it is for 11.0.1, no.

From the symptoms described I thought it must be for 11.1, where RogueB and myself have observed similar behaviour.

Had no problems with several USB installers made from 11.0.1 with jackluke BigSurBaseSystemfix/fix2.

It seems that your download got corrupted , I used Patched Sur and have a 2.5 Ghz cpu and Intel HD 4000 and it was a very simple install and works perfectly , I would suggest you delete that and clear your cache , restart computer and then try downloading again , at first my download would not work , but then I found that my firewall was causing download error so I had to suspend pfblocker and snort and it was all good after that

I guess I should rephrase that previous post, restoring to 1 GB USB will make simply an external BigSur patched recovery, while instead to make an updated BigSurBaseSystemfix full Installer for any 11.x beta :

- restore the BigSurBaseSystemfix.dmg to a 16 GB USB empty drive
- download the 11.x beta InstallAssistant.pkg and after run it to make the unpackaged apple "Install app" in the default macOS (HighSierra, Mojave, Catalina, BigSur) Applications folder
- launch the "BigSurSharedSupportfix" that should automatically copy the updated SharedSupport.dmg (that is where the stage2 installer is stored) to the 16 GB USB drive (that acts as an updated BaseSystemfix Installer)
- at reboot from apple startup manager or any bootloader it should work to boot "BigSurBaseSystemfix" with an updated "stage2 macOS Installer", I'd say the stage1 installer is common to any BigSur Installer so it doesn't require an updated package.

******beta release******
Alright so to be clear these drivers are beta I’m looking for about five or ten people who understands terminal and basic scirpiting to participate. I am announcing today support for Radeon 6x from the MacBook Pro 2011 full acceleration support in Catalina and partial support for resolution and basic features like screen brightness and resolution under Big Sur. I should give alittle background. I am a former developer for AMD and a former employee of intel I’ve been coding for almost 20 years this would not have been possible without madmax or thebighive. I will be releasing the final Kexts on December 15th. Until that point I need beta testers if you message me I’ll forward a link to my Google drive. Please note I am not looking for amateurs. You need basic knowledge of Terminal and scripting. Happy holidays everyone :)
Hi dear! Really nice work! I have a MBP8,3 A1297. I'm in.

Good it showed up finally.. sure is taking a while to install, think it may have kicked up the firmware again.. will report once it's finished.

..Yes it did, my Late 2013 rMBP got kicked up from 427.0.0.0.0 to 429.0.0.0.0

Apple just released macOS Big Sur 11.1 Release Candidate. Any idea for the .pkg file?
FYI, from Mr Macintosh site. So, it appears that the final version pkg will be released "very soon". As of right now, the sucatalog does not show 20C69. When it is, you'll see it here!

Today Apple released macOS Big Sur Beta 11.1 RC (20C69) to Developers

MacOS Big Sur 11.1 RC or Release Candidate was released on December 10th, 2020. We can expect the final version of 11.1 will be released very soon. The release comes one week after Big Sur 11.1 Beta 2. The Release Candidate brings support for AirPods Max, Apple’s new over-ear headphones. New features were also added to Apple TV, Apple News, App Store, iPhone Apps on M1 Macs, Photos and Safari.

NOTE: I don’t see a full installer yet, so I’m not sure if the 2013-14 13″ MacBook Pro BoardID (Mac-189A3D4F975D5FFC) is included yet. This means that Apple could be still working on a fix for this issue.

I applied the 2.89 GB update and it seems fine.

Think they fixed it because my Late 2013 rMBP got its firmware updated from 427 to 429.0.0.0.0 and it took the 11.1 update without a hitch.

Tried to update the firmware on a 15-inch 2014 rMBP with the scap file from 11.1 but firmware doesn't seem to be changed, still 427.0.0.0.0.
