New version of the "Hax.dylib" which fixes the issue (as discussed on Discord) when launching the installer on a running Big Sur system. Thanks to @Minh_Ton, @ASentientHedgehog and @BenSova for reporting the problem and helping test. As always, feel free to use this in your patchers.

This is not necessary if you're installing from an older OS or BaseSystem environment.
Hi! Can you please let me know what exactly I should do? I mean I should just replace the hax.dylib or I just add it to the patcher? Thank you very much for your help and support!

Hi all, I was been able to install Big Sur 11.2.1 with OpenCore in my MacPro 3,1.
All work well except the headphones audio.
The audio work well through the Apple Cinema Display speakers but not from the front headphones jack.
I also see a long list of HDMI audio devices in my preferences.

Please, anyone know how can I fix both of these issues?

Thanks

This is a quick hack, only (no tests made):

I took the latest Hax4 sources to rebuild the four versions of the lib @Barry K. Nathan forked of the former Hax3 sources and added it to this branch of the micropatcher....

You can test and please post your results here in the public or via a private message. Hopefully it will work as designed :)

Still does not work for me.(MB Pro 9.2) Installer still says it is corrupted. Lenght of file downloaded twice over wget on 2 different computers is 12 477 042 770 bytes.

BTW thank you all. I am using Micropatcher since 11.0.1(20B29) Currently on 11.3 Beta 1 as Beta 2 does not work.

In case anyone needs it, here is a Terminal command to get your Board ID:
ioreg -l | grep -i board-id
The output looks like this:
"board-id" = <"Mac-C3EC7CD22292981F">
Hi @buckrock - Yes, and thanks!

I didn't really make clear enough in my post, but my tool isn't just massive overkill to do that. :)
  • It will look up your current board id (as above!), but then it will automatically search the OpenCore Mac model database and tell you which model name that corresponds to (i.e. "MacBookPro10,1", in this case)
  • Or, it will look up your currently installed model name (similar lookup), and then search to tell you which board id that corresponds to; i.e. the reverse of the above (with OC, these two different lookups need not match)
  • Also, it will do a case-insensitive lookup of *any* model name or board id (or part of it) that you care to type in, and tell which board id or model name that corresponds to
HTH!

Hi guys! I installed macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 on both my Mac Pro-2008 and 2009. On Mac Pro 4.1 (Flashed 5.1) installed 11.2 via micropatcher, and then via OCLP installed 11.2.1 via OTA Updates. I also did a clean install of 11.2.1 via OCLP when migrating to another SSD. On Mac Pro 3.1, I installed 11.2.1 via OCLP, and then via BigMac-Master on a PCI-AHCI SSD. I also did a clean install of 11.3 Beta via BigMac-Master on a SATA SSD

Hi, does the headphones work properly in your Big Sur OpenCore Mac Pro 3,1?
Mine does not work, only the display speakers work, not the headphones.
I have also a long list of HDMI audio device.
Maybe I need to modify something in the OpenCore config.plist?

Thanks

No way here with my MBP8,2 too. Up to now only BigSurBaseSystemFix is able to install BS 11.3 beta.

Hi all

I can confirm that I have successfully installed 11.2.1 with Barry's micropatcher 0.5.1 since 5 days and all is working well.

I also wrote a script to automate some tasks:
To check if SIP is disabled
To mount snapshot to RW access
To replace "CoreBrightness.framework" (thanks @jackluke) to get functional NightShift,
To disable Library Validation
To add cMP5,1 board ID with PlistBuddy in "SystemParameters.plist" into "IOBluetooth.framework" to get Continuity
To add cMP5,1 board ID with PlistBuddy in "Info.plist" into "AppleGVA.framework" to enable H264 Hardware acceleration
To create "com.apple.AppleGVA" to enable H264 Hardware acceleration
To add cMP5,1 board ID with PlistBuddy in "/S/L/CoreService/PlatformSupport.plist"
To add cMP5,1 board ID with PlistBuddy in "PlatformSupport.plist" on PREBOOT Volume
To copy 2 ringtones for Message & FaceTime in "/S/L/PrivateFrameworks/ToneLibrary.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Ringtones/"
To add 2 ringtones for Message & FaceTime with PlistBuddy in "TKRingtones.plist" into "ToneKit.framework"
To create a new snapshot
To restart automatically after executing all these tasks

Hi!
Where is the script gone? I thought it was attached to this post. Would like to check the H.264 acceleration your are writing about.
Thanks in advance

Hi! Tried the ‘quick hack’ with no positive result… Still the same ‘installer damaged’ error. Hope there will be a resolve soon. So far I am still on macOS Big Sur 11.3 Beta 1.

  1. Sound does not work, please read here
  2. OpenCore Legacy Patcher by @khronokernel is a completely different approach based on OpenCore. Detailed information is available from his announcement on this thread and his GitHub download page.
  3. For example, you can use yusb audio for the test🎼
  4. Thanks to khronokernel for creating a wonderful opencore for old Mac models 👍OpenCore Legacy Patcher😊

Hi @Ausdauersportler

I didn't add my script to my last message because it was still just a draft and in this script I replace 3 custom icons in CoreTypes.bundle (public.generic-lcd.icns, public.generic-pc.icns and SidebarPC.icns) and I add 2 custom ringtones for FaceTime.app and Message, which I think nobody is interested by this.

But here are the 2 parts of my script about H.264 acceleration

$BOARD_ID and $MOUNT were set at the beginning of the script like this:

Code:
MOUNT="$HOME/mount_dir"
BOARD_ID=`/usr/sbin/ioreg -l | grep board-id | awk -F\" '{ print $4 }' | grep Mac`

Part#1
Code:
echo "7. Patching 'AppleGVA.framework' to H.264 Hardware acceleration..."
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :System\ Support:$BOARD_ID:allowFrameReordering bool false" "$MOUNT/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleGVA.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist"
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :System\ Support:$BOARD_ID:hwe bool true" "$MOUNT/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleGVA.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist"
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :System\ Support:$BOARD_ID:hwe420 bool true" "$MOUNT/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleGVA.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist"
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :System\ Support:$BOARD_ID:interlacedOff bool true" "$MOUNT/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleGVA.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist"
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :System\ Support:$BOARD_ID:ke1 bool true" "$MOUNT/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleGVA.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist"
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :System\ Support:$BOARD_ID:pp integer 1" "$MOUNT/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleGVA.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist"

Part#2
Code:
echo "14. Creating 'com.apple.AppleGVA' to H.264 Hardware acceleration..."
defaults write com.apple.AppleGVA gvaForceAMDKE -bool YES
defaults write com.apple.AppleGVA gvaForceAMDAVCEncode -bool YES
defaults write com.apple.AppleGVA gvaForceAMDAVCDecode -bool YES
defaults write com.apple.AppleGVA gvaForceAMDHEVCDecode -bool YES

If you want the full script to add it to the micropatcher, I'd be happy to share it, just tell me and I'll remove the parts adding ringtones and replacing icons.

I saw that OpenCore install guide and then I saw this one by Helmstedt titled "OpenCore - The Basic Way" and decided to look at this and see how they installed OpenCore. I found this way very easy and straightforward... keeping in mind there are a few install guides out there which make the install process easier for those of us not accustomed to doing this to our MacPros.

I'm glad there are those out there who take the time to make these install guides so that it is easy to do this as long as you don't deviate from the procedures outlined in these install guides. :)

As a result of following the install guide I posted I'm now running Big Sur 10.3 Beta 2 with no major issue on my 2012 MacPro 5,1. :apple:

Did you try Big Sur 10.3 Beta 2 Clean Install?

Did you try Big Sur 10.3 Beta 2 Clean Install?
I installed Big Sur 10.3 Beta 2 over my initial Big Sur 11.0.1 install. When I did my first OS update after installing 11.0.1, 10.3 Beta 2 was available so I downloaded this and installed it. So far since the install, and I was having this issue while running 11.0.1 is with the Apple TV app. I can't play any movies downloaded from the Apple store even after doing the 11.3 Beta 2 update. This is the only issue I have run into so far.

Playing DVDs using the DVD player app poses no issue and I have put in a few DVDs with no issue at all... so watching movies is not an issue. I can stream YouTube videos without any issue as well. Other than that I have not run into any issues since installing Big Sur on my 5,1 MacPro.

My MacPro is configured with two x5690 Xeons, 128GB RAM, a 1TB SSD (where Big Sur is installed) and an RX 580 8GB GPU.

I've patched external SSD running High Sierra on my iMac "27 mid 2010 11.3 with Quadro K2000M GPU with OpenCore Legacy Patcher by @khronokernel. SSD EFI shows OpenCore but I still can't access disc picker window. Rebooted with Option pressed, without, via Boot Volume in System Settings - all without picker window appearing.
Is the problem with the video card?
Or the SSD being external?
Shall I try the "OpenCore - The Basic Way" by Helmstedt?

I followed the procedure outlined by "OpenCore - The Basic Way" by Halmstedt to install OpenCore on my cMP and my computer boots into the access disc picker window every time I boot my Mac. I am not familiar with the Quadro K2000M GPU you're using so I can't comment regarding this GPU. I can say that from my experience Helmstedt's procedure worked for me but I'm using the RX580 GPU on my Mac.

I'm running 11.2.1 on my cMP5,1 via OC v0.6.6 and was wondering if there's no more separate slider for computer sleep in Energy Saver preferences?
1614273266625.png

I'm on 11.3 Beta 2 and OC 0.6.3 and I am seeing the same selections you are seeing under Energy Saver on my cMP.
Thanks. I guess it's fine. Just wanted to make sure nothing was incorrectly set within OC. Everything else works fine. Computer sleeps and adjusting that one slider does change timeout as reported with pmset -g.
