On Mac Pro 3.1 OCLP 0.0.11 get error in step 1 - build opencore config.

Yes, thank you Ausdauersportler for the write up.

Q:

I have 2012 Macmini6,1 patched using micropatcher 0.5.1, now running 11.2.1. Been thinking of switching to OCLP but was worried about bricking the firmware.

Are we there yet with this hybrid approach as suggested by Ausdauersportler?

How best to go about doing that? Is it a start all over from scratch(clean install) or there is a golden path to switch?

Would like to hear from anyone that has done similar switch.

Same answer, as in this post. Possibly you can move directly to OCLP completely with your new hardware? Just follow the docs made here. You need in any case to install new. The best point in time is when moving on to a major full installer versions as 11.2.1 or 11.2.2 (both are available for download) anyway.

Only if you figure out you cannot get the OCLP working it is a plan to use an hybrid approach. Which should work right now with the dev-v0.5.5.

You can still apply the micropatcher (to the USB and to your fresh Big Sur installation) after first installing and checking with OCLP. So it is not a one way to use OCLP.

From my personal perspective (iMac11,x and 12,x):

As of now the OCLP does not support sound and ethernet both on iMac11,x and iMac12,x. If you do not need sound you can run Big Sur unchanged waiting for integration of AppleALC.kext and fixes for the (Catalina)BCM5701Ethernet.kext - everything else is working (including sleep, WiFi, BP, etc).

So I have in reality separated my internal disk into two separate partitions: I boot OC in any case having the alternative to start into micropatcher patched (and fully working) Big Sur or into unchanged stock installations (no sound, no ethernet, but OTA) on my iMac11,1, iMac11,3 and iMac12,2. Works pretty cool!

Thanks. I wasn't sure but it looks like I can just use OCLP to get everything working on 2012 Macmini.

Will try it out when I have some free time to muck around on the mini. Everything is working fine right now.

Yes, only if wifi is not working I might need to apply kext patch using micropatcher bits.

I don't ask for a help, i just report for another issue on "magic" MacPro 3.1, that work normally with 0.0.9 OCLP release. without built in sound of couse. OCLP 0.0.10 and 0.0.11 not for this legacy machine, at this time.

Yes, you did not ask for help. But 80% of the traffic on GitHub is currently forum type, i.e. how to use questions. But your particular report is better located over there because both developers do not read this forum. So if you do not post your issue on Github it will likely remain an issue.

Only solution that could provide metal graphics compatibility is using the 2011 Mac mini with a eGPU, via it’s Thunderbolt port. I have this planned for myself, but if that really will work well with Big Sur is probably another story.

Hi macinfo! How are you? Did you tried eGPU via thunderbolt? I think to try this on my MBP8,3...

This is a short list of users and theirs systems running Big Sur with some of the patcher options listed on page #1 and post #1. This list is not complete, does not represent a ranking, is just meant to answer the "is my system supported" question.

I gathered this list from the signatures the particular users added to their account here, just searching through the last 10 pages of post.

If you want to see a longer list please just add a signature to your own account showing the data I need to fill the columns here in the table.

Any success using BarryKN’s micropatcher 0.5.1 yet?
macOS Big Sur 11.3 Public Beta 3

Are you sure this is 11.3 Beta 3? I downloaded this, used Barry's 5.1 micropatcher without a problem however, it installed 11.2.2! I was running 11.3 Beta 2.

Yes, it s 11.2.2. You need 071-08928 and you can get it with gibMacOS - download link on post #1. After startup toggle the Catalog with pressing C and change to Developer (option 4) and voila, the Beta 11.2 (20E5196f) comes up on top.

All users of OpenCore subscribed to the Beta program do not need this tool - Apple software update offers it.

Unfortunately I didn’t find the time yet. Maybe I will first try on a MBP8,2 (with defunct nvidia graphics, disabled via software) for which I also have an upgrade to 16GB RAM. As soon as I come to it, I will report my findings here.

Thanks! Your system is a candidate for the latest OCLP, too! Give it a try if you are interested in OTA upgrades...
Hi! I'm a micropatcher fanatic, but your words made me want to try OpenCore and I just downloaded OpenCore-Patcher. When starting OC-Patcher I get the options you see below.

########################
# OpenCore Legacy Patcher v0.0.12 #
# Selected Model: iMac14,2 #
########################
This model is supported
Please select an option:
1. Build OpenCore
2. Install OpenCore to USB / internal drive
3. Change Model
4. Credits
Q. Quit

I have an iMac 14,2 [iMac 27'' late 2013 with 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 Quad-Core, 24 GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4 GB Graphics Card] and I ask, kindly, if it is enough for me to choose only the OC-Patcher's option 3 and insert iMac 15,1 or if, instead, it is necessary to follow all the steps from one to 4.

But above all: do I have to redo the entire installation of Big Sur 11.2.2 or is it sufficient to run the automated procedure of OpenCore-Patcher?...

I have not found an illustrated guide suitable for my iMac 14,2 to which you do not need to add or alter Kext.
So, we all know that "playing" with EFI Firmware risks blocking the computer but I don't realize if this risk exists or not, using OC-Patcher. Do you know any well illustrated video or Internet page about all this?

I think it would be useful to many an extended answer, suitable for all iMac late 2013 which are perfectly predisposed to Big Sur but are simply not accepted by the Installation due to the Apple's choice to exclude them due to slowness of the Fusion Dives in use with this models. The problem does not arise, for me, as I eliminated the Fusion Drive and instead of the mechanical ìHD I mounted an excellent 2TB Crucial SSD and Big Sur 11.2.2 works very well!

I sincerely thank you
