Installed back, but system start after second boot (freezed on first start, and boot normally after shutdown by the holded power button and second start).
I only have a usb 3 expansion card (inateck) so I guess I have to remove it before installing 11.3.

Hello everyone! thanks for the good deed!
and still I would like to clarify if I can install on my 2011 imac with gpu gtx880m, I see that in the column

@johnrak iMac12,1 GTX765M 11.2.2 @Ausdauersportler yp 0.5.4,

the main question is how the final cut program will work ? is there any point in the installation?
I apologize if a similar question has already been voiced

if using a 21,5" 2011 iMac I would not reccomend it, 27" 2011 iMac yes should work fine with an GTX880M I would say.
Just get the right model, and read 1st wiki post carefully..

Thank you! yes of course 27)

if suddenly there is someone who wants to add a negative answer to this question, then I will be glad to make it out too

@Ausdauersportler following your advice from another thread i have gone ahead and created OCLP USB bootable Big Sur installer, I also created EFI boot SD card with OopenCore.
I get to View attachment 1761256
with no issue and when i select the EFI, it briefly shows

View attachment 1761257

then the script runs over it, it reboots with the Apple logo but that is where the story ends.

Is it supposed to sit around with the apple logo for over an hour??? I guess not.

Is there a physical requirement for the SD card (i just used a 512MB card i had)

Please help me to bring this home.

Thanks
@Ausdauersportler

So after some tinkering I finally got it to work, had to quickly click on the Install macOS screen before it reloaded.

So it working as expected now.

A quick question the SD card now needs to be present for every boot? or did i miss something?

Without the SD card i get a white screen with a crossed out circle.

Since Metal is the core technology behind all acceleration included in Final Cut Pro (this is what I gathered from a short net search) I would clearly prefer a GPU with a high metal score. If you take a deeper look at all the GPUs listed on the iMac GPU thread than I would never recommend an NVIDIA GPU for this task.

macOS 11.4 Beta 1 (20F5046g) has been seeded to developers. Apple has kindly provided an InstallAssistant.pkg at the same time:

Edit: Apple removed the InstallAssistant out of nowhere

Thank you! when I was looking for a replacement video card, the only card came across, everything else is more expensive and will wait a long time (((I will live with this, maybe one day I will buy AMD WX7100 or AMD AMD RX480, thanks again! I will try to publish the test results

@ASentientBot
Any chance that your promising and ongoing legacy GPU support patches (as far as I can see currently in a non-public beta test phase) can be applied to non-OC environments (as i.e. included in patchers like Big Mac or a new one by @dosdude1 (whenever he has free time again)? Would a standalone patch (script etc.) be feasible?

All in all, the last dice has not fallen yet for accelerated unsupported Big Sur, it seems! ;-)
Hey, sorry for the slow response. I am mostly active on Unsupported Macs Discord these days and don't check MR as often as I should...

I'm currently relying on the OCLP developers for distribution of the patches, as well as kernel-level support and testing for GPUs that I don't own (i.e. non-Tesla). However, my fixes can certainly be bundled in other tools in future. I'm planning to fully open-source them and release standalone binaries (as I did last year) in a bit, once I cleanup my code and fix several issues.

Also, the OCLP beta fixes are actually public as of yesterday/today!

Edit: here is a screenshot from my 2010 MacBook, just for fun :)

It is coming along well, but still lots of work left to do.

Edit 2: it was also discussed on Discord that dosdude1 may write a GUI for OCLP.

Apple seems to have removed 11.4b1 from the sucatalogs that I can monitor. In view of this, I would say be cautious in applying this InstallAssistant.pkg at this time. Do it only if you can afford a failure.
