The latest beta of SuperDuper backup software is now able create bootable Big Sur backups
(M1 users need to be on Big Sur 11.4 beta for that to work):

Start downloading XCODE 12.5 on BigSur 11.3
This is not Facebook and not twitter. If every user would comment on any application he started to download we would have a tenfold of useless posts here.

I asked you before to stop this and if you cannot or will not I will press the ignore button an will not see your posts. Pretty easy.

About your other question:

Spotlight is surprisingly able to index all your disks, partitions and containers and will find data and apps there. This is not sharing, this is mounting. To avoid this you could have asked the bigger search machine just to find out that it is a spotlight privacy setting.

You are still struggling with basic macOS system administration tasks. There are other forums to get you up to speed.

Little public poll about (potential) problems with Big Sur 11.3

Good morning! We know from the MacPro5,1 owners and at least from @jacob_pro that there exist (rareley?) problems with the OTA update to Big Sur 11.3 or the new installation using an USB installer.

I got single reports of iMac11,1 and iMac11,3 users unable to boot the system after the update process stuck for hours. Had myself such a situation (iMac11,1) were I could happily proceed with the installation after phase one did not end (10 minutes to go for hours). Had to switch off the iMac manually and reboot it.

To get a better overview I ask everybody having problems to enable verbose boot adding the -v to the boot-args or by creating a new EFI folder using OCLP with verbose boot selected.

Please report back here in case you have the same problems sharing your complete hardware and software config.

Thanks in advance!

Let's see if I can help since I have the same device and have no troubles.
First, please use colored text less; also less bold typeface. It annoys most of us! Thanks.

You didn't say what your installation method was. I use BarryKN's micropatcher v. 0.5.1, so I know how to do that install, but don't know much about OCLP installs (others here do so be patient and they will answer).

If you still have your patched USB installer, just shutdown, reboot with option key depressed to get Apple startup selector. Choose the USB stick and reinstall 11.3 right over your existing install. Your data, apps, and settings will not be harmed. This is a fast and effective way to correct problems.

Read Apple's "How to Use Network Locations on your Mac."

If you have installed gfxCardStatus v.2.5, you can use it to see which GPU is operating and set Dynamic Switching. You will need to run a Terminal command to disable displaypolicyd which prevents dynamic switching on our machines. The command is sudo launchctl stop com.apple.displaypolicyd. Enter your password on Terminal prompt. You will need to do this after every system startup.

Lastly, I'm sure the moderator will ask you to create a signature and put your device info, current system version and build, and your patcher/install method used. Add any information you think would be useful to help diagnose your problems. Thanks and welcome to this forum!
ok thx for ur attention

slightly off-topic, but how would one go about installing windows? I have Big Sur installed with OCLP, Open Core installed on my main ssd's EFI(so i'm not using an SD card). Ideally i would want to install windows on my second SSD. I haven't tried it yet, but looks like the Boot Camp Assistant is working. Should i try that maybe?

i split my ssd in 2 partition 1st macOS 2nd Windows and OCLP on EFI Partition. u could try Bootcamp but i think its untested. i Installed windows just via EFI boot

Thanks, makes sense. I created an installer with BootCamp utilicy and installed it on my second SSD. The install went through, but sadly on boot its stuck on the windows logo. I will look around in the forums, maybe someone else had this issue already.

We have a page for that here. Don't use BootCamp Assistant, it'll think you're on the spoofed model.

hello everyone for those who don't remember me. I am the one who was working on radeon 6x support for iMac and MacBook Pros Produced in 2011. A few months ago I announced working kexts for these systems and was asking the community to beta test well Unfortunately like many others out there I was infected with covid and spent the last month in the hospital. Its been a crazy rollercoaster of a year. But now I am back 60 pounds lighter and feeling good to be alive. I am looking for beta testers effective today. Barrykn is in and out of the patcher scene now. As a developer I am going to be honest with all of you......and before I say this to all patch developers and everyone who has been burning the midnight oil....THANK YOU......getting Big Sur would not have been possible and your patches work show.....with that being said I can no longer stand behind barrykns patcher or even patched sir.....Opencore is the future on unsupported Macs.....with native ota updates and working FileVault. I must insist users read up and take a dive into opencore......so if you decide to beta test officially I will not be supporting barrykn/forks of his patcher(unofficially they work) and I will not be support Bensovas Patcher(not tested with his patcher).....offical support for radeon 6x on these 2011 systems will be officially only supported by opencore! Good to be back everyone :)

Thanks! The link is missing .html at the end:). I used the assistant to create the bootable usb only. Formatted my drive to Fat32 and just selected that during install. I'm now in Windows. I had to delete the igdkmd64.sys file, it now boots up fine. When Windows Update was running, graphic drivers were updated and i had acceleration on both internal and external screen. However, after a restart i only have picture on the external screen. On the internal, i just have some random gray graphic glitch, vertical lines. If i disable the RX560 in the device manager, i have image on both screens(without acceleration). I guess its a driver issue, i will try to figure this out.

Good to see you healthy back.

My advice would be to join the Discord server @khronokernel announced lately here and publish your work in the internal alpha test group. These guys have the tools and development power to get it to the public.

Why oh why after install do I KEEP getting the prohibited sign?? o_O Using BarryKN's micropatcher v. 0.5.1, BS 11.3.. Mac Pro 5,1... installing to a NVMe drive that I've been running BS 11.0.1 flawlessly!! I've spent almost the entire day screwing with this damn thing!

So.... I can either install BS 11.2.3 on the VNMe..... OR..... install BS 11.3 on the SSD connected via SATA controller. Ugh! I have Catalina on the SSD.

I would give the very active development some time and why hurry to get to 11.3? A proper update management would never install on the main working platform the latest version :) As you can see you can become a beta tester really fast and surprisingly.

I have problems with Catalina 10.15.7 finder not responding not recover until restart
do you have info to refresh finder or recover it also take long time to gitup start

other prob.
Spotlight ,I install xcode in BigSur and I found it in Catalina application
my pc become freeze

Like @Ausdauersportler said no need to upgrade to 11.3....it was released four days ago the downside with being on an unsupported system is it takes us time time to iron out kinks. Thats the beauty of forks over on GitHub is being like him are maintaining the current release...Like I've advocated before opencore is the way to go...if your on a patcher don't update unless you know things will go smoothly its not like a native opencore install. it takes time....some people the patchers are ok because of how easy it is and I'm cool with that but like he said chill out and wait it out for further updates!
