Is it possible to install 11.3 on a flash drive? An external hdd is ok but it doesn't boot on a flash drive. It gets stuck at pci paused: sdxc.

Fine that you got there! But you need no new and additional GUI and new process to replace the standard apple software update.

The only thing I do (right now) and did in the last 4 month with OpenCore and OCLP is this:

A few (automatic) reboots later I am on the next (most recent version). What can be more easy?

getting there in the first place is the issue 😅 I was reading the how to but all I left with was „???“ what do these words even mean

Big Sur 11.3 installato con micropatcher 0.5.2. Tutto perfetto.

So, I have a late 2012 13" rMBP, with micropatched 11.2 installed. I tried downloading 11.2 from apple and reinstall the OS with OCLP as suggested from github page(?) but realized Apple had taken 11.2 down. So I downloaded 11.3 and went with OCLP installation to see how it goes. Everything went fine but it just couldn't boot from my internal drive even after installing the OC to my internal drive, I have to plug in the USB installer and select my internal drive. I have file vault and SIP turned off. So my question is that what else can I do apart from a clean OS install then a time machine restore? Thank you very much.
I am surprised this is a problem... The late 2012 retina display MBP is almost completely supported by Big Sur, even without OpenCore (if you physically upgrade the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card then in terms of hardware it is completely supported; but you need OpenCore or a patcher to force it to install, because Apple still detects it as an unsupported model).

I use Big Sur and OC on the same model all the time with no problems at all. I've gone through every single beta version of Big Sur (at least, since late last year) and am currently on 11.4 beta 1. So I'm thinking that with more info, this should definitely be fixable..

When you say "can't boot from internal drive" what do you mean? That it doesn't even show up as a boot option? Or that it does, but then when you select it, it crashes, hangs or otherwise doesn't work in some way?

... in fairness ... a guide for something you have never done before is often like that, right? usually doing it by following it, step by step, is the way to come to understand what it means!? if you are following it step by step, while actually doing the steps 😉😌😊, and you get to something that really does not compute, then I am sure you would get friendly assistance here! (usual disclaimers apply, ofc, don't start on that on a machine you need for work tomorrow, or even in the next few days, at least until you've successfully done it at least once or twice!)

I'm wondering if your boot problem is related to SIP being disabled. I have a similar device (rMBP mid-2012 with upgraded WIFI card) and am currently on 11.3 (20E232) installed with BarryKN's 0.5.1 micropatcher. When I run the last patch command (install-setvars.sh -e), I use that -e option to enable SIP and ARV (System Integrity Protection, Authenticated Root Volume) protection.

I don't think so. I have problems booting to Big Sur after clearing NVRAM. In the default configuration, boot will test for compatibility. But this can be disabled by shell command once for all (nvram boot-args=-no_compat_check). Might be something else either, but I am sure there is the right command to fix.

Hi guys. I just installed macOS Big Sur on my MacBook Pro 5,4 15” mid 2009 with OpenCore Legacy Patcher and everyhting works, except some graphical glitches which is expected, but I can’t get sound to work. I tried post volume patch a couple of times but can’t seem to get it working. Headphones plugged in also don’t work but AirPods do but only for a couple of minutes, then they disconnect. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do you need OpenCore to use OCLP?

Do you need OpenCore to use OCLP?
OCLP uses OpenCore to provide the functionality I was describing. And it is the only professionally supported project to provide working configurations.

The OCLP is just a simple program to be used once to generate a fitting OpenCore and install it in your iMac. Can we now start with reading the available docs on our own?

Can you please describe in a few words what your did, which hardware you were using, which version of Big Sur you were trying to install and which version of OCLP?

Sometimes a picture tells us more than a thousand words - but not here and now.

Installed Ben's Patched Sur on a late iMac 2013 successfully. I installed Big Sur on a Samsung T5 1TB SSD connected via USB 3.0.

I have all versions of BigSur that testing need too much time

this process has 2 copy
1 for recovery
2 for install
this problem happenEd after second copy”30min” but takes more than 50min
after restart this problem happening
if force graphics card Nvedia is active this problem will not happen but frame buffer YouTube, and any Vedio not work also mouse very slow I sent my test in last post

if the graphic not work we can give up
i hope developers will fix it

This iMac metal setting is only for iMac11,x and iMac12,x modded with an NVIDIA Kepler MXM GPU. I doubt you made this with your iMac10,1.

On the last post @khronokernel made here he published a link to the last 11.2.3 Big Sur version. Since you will need to do the post install patching (for legacy GPU support) and all tests have been made with the former Big Sur version please use this version.

And do not use settings not intended for your iMac. There is a pretty detailed documentation available on the OLCP Github page. You surely passed there quickly by on the rush to find the download link.

Read the docs and give it another try. Read the docs and...read it!

Do you mean stock sitting is default patcher sitting
thats mean “FORCE IMAAC METAL PATCH:NONE”
this property is the magic sitting for boot success OR not
NONE means 8 hours
but if patched with Nvedia the boot loader will run
I have BigSur 11.2.3 I will try the doc is big
I think you mean this link to read Link
too long and good information
let’s try!test

Test Result
BigSur 11.2.3 work boot without Force iMac metal patch
latest OCLP
BUT graphic and mouse problems are not fix at all
It’s first time to boot with no Nvedia patch I think update patch solve it
but any latest of BigSur need patch Nvidia,
but after that we need to fix graphics problems
