I would give the very active development some time and why hurry to get to 11.3? A proper update management would never install on the main working platform the latest version :) As you can see you can become a beta tester really fast and surprisingly.
I am already a Apple beta tester / developer... Apple Certified tech since 2011.... this hacking stuff is interesting and I do it every once in awhile.

@MacTechAaron70 if your using the stock wifi card using the kexts from opencore efi and install them manually into the kexts directory it'll start working no problem! If your unfamiliar you can also using the post install bensova patcher which will also get it working just unselect everything other then wifi and bluetooth!

Got the WiFi working (flawlessly I might add)...... every is working GREAT! Fast, responsive.... just one issue.... upon restarting or starting up from being turned off, ... takes and EXTREMELY long time to boot! No boot screen to try to diag what the issue(s) are - (running a NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 2GB).. once video does appear, I have a error message saying the computer encountered a issue and restarted. Interesting.... I never hear the start up chime upon "restarting".... dug deeper and got this thread:

So... how do I get wireless working??

Im stuck with a 120gb ssd, where I can't install over the actual installation. I need to complete format, but I have a Time Machine fully working backup. I haven't done yet cuz im afraid doesn't work...
I'm stuck in 11.1 thinking the update to 11.3 for that reason.

good to see you all great apple credo people.;) hope you all try to create acceleration patch for legacy intel hd3000 graphics card soon for Big Sur 11.3. cheers

Thanks, makes sense. I created an installer with BootCamp utilicy and installed it on my second SSD. The install went through, but sadly on boot its stuck on the windows logo. I will look around in the forums, maybe someone else had this issue already.
try holding the F8 key when booting up to enter safe mode. its probably a stuck driver like video our storage, etc. i install windows 10 on my macbookair5,3 and macbookpro5,3 directly from Windows 10 Install USB. missing drivers can be extracted from the bootcamp drivers packs located at: https://www.123myit.com/boot-camp-drivers/macbook-pro/

Little public poll about (potential) problems with Big Sur 11.3

Good morning! We know from the MacPro5,1 owners and at least from @jacob_pro that there exist (rareley?) problems with the OTA update to Big Sur 11.3 or the new installation using an USB installer.

I got single reports of iMac11,1 and iMac11,3 users unable to boot the system after the update process stuck for hours. Had myself such a situation (iMac11,1) were I could happily proceed with the installation after phase one did not end (10 minutes to go for hours). Had to switch off the iMac manually and reboot it.

To get a better overview I ask everybody having problems to enable verbose boot adding the -v to the boot-args or by creating a new EFI folder using OCLP with verbose boot selected.

Please report back here in case you have the same problems sharing your complete hardware and software config.

Thanks in advance!
I can confirm that it is not a single report.
My iMac 2010 as in my signature with RX480 also hanged during 11.3 installation.
It has OCLP 0.6.8 on an SD for Booting to show the OC Bootpicker.
My internal SSD was originally a Catalina 10.5.7 ( installed by DOSDude's Patcher) that got updated to Big Sur 11.2.3 by using iMac Micropatcher.
That ran well despite the warning of not to do so but I had made a backup in advance to test so as to avoid reinstalling all my apps and restoring all my data. No hiccup encountered and the system ran well for some weeks.
Then I used OC 0.6.8 of OCLP 0.1.1 to update to unpatched Big Sur 11.2.3 again. The OCLP EFI remains on the SD card for primary 1st stage booting and I haven't installed that onto my Big Sur internal SSD.
Everything worked as stated in my previous post.

Few days ago, I made a new USB finger of native Big Sur 11.3 Install from gibMacOS-master WITHOUT OCLP patching to the USB finger. The new EFI generated from OCLP 0.1.1 was installed instead to my SD card for booting.
The installation went ahead over 11.2.3 smoothly for the 1st part but got hung for hrs in the middle at the 2nd stage of installation from the macOS Install.

I have retried a few times with also remaking the USB finger and regenerating the EFI but the same persisted. I was thinking to completely wipe the SSD for a final try. Maybe I should enable verbose mode to see what happens ...

I’ve used OLCP 0.1.1 to install Big Sur 11.2.3 on my trusty MacBookPro4,1 (early 2008) main internal SSD.

It’s running quite nicely so far, the one thing missing is, that my second internal drive (SATA HDD in PATA adapter enclosure), which replaced the internal DVD drive, does not mount.

Probably this might be fixed in the current OCLP 0.1.2 beta, as I’ve read someting about IDE fixes, or does this relate only to certain machines?!

@ASentientBot
Any chance that your promising and ongoing legacy GPU support patches (as far as I can see currently in a non-public beta test phase) can be applied to non-OC environments (as i.e. included in patchers like Big Mac or a new one by @dosdude1 (whenever he has free time again)? Would a standalone patch (script etc.) be feasible?

All in all, the last dice has not fallen yet for accelerated unsupported Big Sur, it seems! ;-)
On MBP5,2, following the success of graphics acceleration made possible again by @ASentientBot , I've made BS my principal macOS now.

I'm prudent and use rsyncs to keep user data in sync both ways between Catalina and BS. Note that the scripts are run on BS because BS data is not seen properly from Catalina, at least for the OCLP installation. This in addition to the usual backup methods.

I have three installations now on different SSDs (all are Samsung 860 EVO or 840, 500GB):

1- Catalina 10.15.7 (19H1030) on an SSD now connected to USB. Graphics acceleration with ASentientBot's Catalina SkyLight framework etc.
2- BigSur 11.3 (20E232) on an SSD which is now on internal SATA. Installed with OCLP 0.1.1 including system volume patching. Graphics acceleration with ASentientBot's public beta BS SkyLight framework etc.
3- BigSur 11.4beta1 (20F5046g) on an SSD which is connected to USB. Installed with jackluke's BigSurBasesystemfix and OC 4b.

I'm quite happy with this setup, and I'm convinced now that BS can be used in production on MBP5,2 (which has Nvidia Geforce 9400M and 9600M GT GPUs).

ad 2: just lacking keyboard backlight.
ad 3: keyboard backlight in place. Of course I'd be happy to have support for graphics acceleration also with this installation method.

Great thanks again to ASentientBot, to khronokernel and the OCLP team, to jackluke, and to dodsude1!

I'll continue BS installation exercises in verbose mode to disks on SATA and USB to find out about the occasional hangs observed during installation using OCLP.

EDIT: to my knowledge BigSurBasesystemfix is the only installation method which works without any hickups right now on Legacy USB machines, like MBP5,2 is.

Hi guys!

Successfully updated to MacOS Big Sur 11.4 Beta1 from 11.3 RC on my Mac Pro 4.1 flashed to 5.1 (144.0.0.0)

it's a long-time process, that start from BS 11.3 RC - update with OCLP 0.0.22, after lot of freezes i decided to remove Sonnet's USB 3.2 expansion card (like in a previos cases) - but... ...zero effect.

Next time - i boot to BS 11.2.3 and set "-no_compat_check" boot argument and reboot "nativly" without OC, and rebuild OCLP config by COLP 0.1.1 - and... ...after some reboots and freezes - all done. After i install back USB 3.0 expansion card and all boot normally with gorgeous OCLP 0.1.1.

All works fine!

All works fine!
Reboots and freezes do not imply this. It works of course when/if you get it booted, but the problem is booting the system. If you can't boot successfully 10 times in a row it does not work fine.

WakeUp! It's Beta release, first beta of 11.4. =)
And after installation process was done - MacOS started without issues and works fine.
