Can anyone tell me how to Install Big Sur 11.6 on a MacBook 7.1. I started using the nightly Build of OCLP and building the USB stick following the directions on the OCLP's page. I got up to the part in the instructions where it says, "Booting OpenCore and macOS.' When I reboot the machine and hold down the option key, right after the chime, the machine doesn't get to to boot picker where I can see the Install macOS Big Sur and EFI Boot icons and which then allows me to select the EFI Boot icon to load opencore. I'm told this is because there is no metal support in the macbook 7.1's graphics card, which is a Nvidia GeForce 320M. What would be the necessary steps that I would need to take in order to complete an install on my macbook 7.1?

Try removing the USB, starting with option held down. Once you see the Apple picker, insert the USB and wait to select the EFI Boot that should occur on insert.

@hwojtek Thanks for the info. I tried that, but it didn't work; however, I did get opencore installed in High Sierra on a Macbook 7.1. I was able to then install Big Sur 11.6. An hour later the install finished and the computer rebooted.
The computer hung on the 1st boot and so I shut it down and then did 4x Pram Zaps. After the 4x Pram zaps it booted into the desktop. Updates worked and everything. Updated to Safari 15.

Hi to All!
OTA Updated my second system on my CMP 3.1 - from MacOS Big Sur 11.5.2 to 11.6.1RC (20G211), using OC config by OCLP NB.
Issues - no issues.
Sleep mod still don't work.

After installing Big Sur 11.6. on a macbook 7.1 using OCLP, the video can be a little glitchy at times.
There is a wake from sleep issue where the mouse acts funny, but typing my password and hitting enter after a few times lets me log back in. There is also an issue where Videos from you tube freeze the computer when exiting from Safari and there is another issue when you try to hit the escape key to minimize the screen after enlarging the video to occupy the full screen. Option, command, escape allows me to force quit Safari. There is a slight screen redraw issue at the very top of the Desktop bar sometimes too. I have not applied any Post Install Volume Patches via OCLP. I think this might be the problem. The Macbook 7.1 uses an Nvidia GeForce 320M graphics card.
I have 2 Questions:
1) Which graphics acceleration patch in OCLP should I use if any?
2) Has anyone had any of these issues and solved them?

There is not manual selection of video patches, just start the OCLP TUI app again and run the post install patches on your machine.

You may also head to the GitHub download page and take a look at the written online docs, especially the section about legacy video patches.

My apologies if this has already been answered, but yesterday when I was deciding back and forth whether or not to install macOS Monterey Beta 8, while I was in beta tester mode, Big Sur 11.6.1 came up. I restored defaults without updating to the Beta, and then all of a sudden like 10 minutes later my computer restarted and automatically upgraded to 11.6.1. Is this a stable release? I was confused too because I have automatic updates turned off?

I glanced up on the page and saw that 11.6.1 is the RC, so the next release hopefully will be a stable version of monterey!

Almost complete Success!!! Very close. After applying the Post Install Volume Patches via OCLP to enable graphics acceleration on a macbook 7.1 which uses the Nvidia GeForce 320M graphics card; the graphics glitches that I was experiencing went away. No more issues where Videos from you tube freeze the computer when exiting from Safari. No more freezing issue when I try to hit the escape key to minimize the screen after enlarging the video to occupy the full screen. No more slight screen redraw issue at the very top of the Desktop bar. There is a slight graphics glitch when you move the cursor over a playing video on you tube, but that's about it. I'm sure that they will tighten up the graphics patches as these patches are still beta versions. The wake from sleep issue still exists though. When this issue occurs the track pad acts funny. It freezes, then after running your finger on the touch pad the cursor moves a little bit and then it freezes again and the process keeps reapeating making the track pad unusable to re-login. Typing my password and hitting enter after a few times lets me log back in with no further track pad issues when you reach the desk top. Hopefully this gets fixed.

I'm running Big Sur 11.2.3 on a Mac Pro 5,1 with an Nvidia GTX 680 and 2 DELL S2817Q Displays running at 3840x2160with no problem. I've been thinking of throwing my HD7970 in it just for grins. I'll report back if I do.
What port are you running GTX680 with? HDMI, VGA or Display Port?

i am a bit confused, i think I have set it up right, I am running Big Sur 1.6 on My Macbook Pro late 2011. I think I missed a vital step in patching ktexts ? How do i go about doing that? Wifi seems to work as does bluetooth, but no audio from the hwarware at this stage, have yet to try usb audio set. Have I missed a vital step? I do have a Big Sur patched installer, but I think I have not patched it to include the ktexts? What do I need to do to patch the ktext files?

It sort of works. I do have a mac mini with a dual boot with os catalina and mac os big sure, I just thought id experiment on the laptop, until it eventually dies. No dramas. :)

Wow, it seems to work fine now, sound and all. :) Giving it a new lease on life. :) I wish my other operating system on there worked. I had a dual boot with Mac OS High Sierra but that doesn't work , probably because of the patch/hack maybe?

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

I installed Big Sur 11.6 on my MacBookAir4,2.

Unfortunately photos is not working.

1. HD Videos show wrong colors
2. photos does not synchronize anymore.
3. system settings with respect to log in and out of iCloud result in crash of system settings.

4. iCloud folder is working, Email and calendar is also working

Before this, the installation was not smooth. It somewhere stopped and did not continue.
I had to restart via power button.

The first boot without acceleration then also hung. The second boot started.
What I never got is the initialization sequence of Big Sur in which one has to enter its iCloud credentials.
So I suspect that this may cause (2) and (4).

Any tip for me?

I did a fresh install and delete the partition.
After this
1. The photos are synching again.
2. all thumbnails are generated correct
3. HD Videos play back but have wrong colours and are very choppy.
4. Universal clipboard in not working
5. Handover is not working
6. SMS, Facetime is working
7. Widget cannot be configured. The Tab Space Bar workaround is not working
8. Maps is partly working. Wrong colours in Satilite view.
9. Safari - as expected - cannot play Netflix or Amazon due to missing hW Drm
10. Safari cannot install extension, in my case "One Adblock".
11. iCloud Folder,Notes, Reminder, Email, Calendar, Contacts are working. Although Contacts has duplicated contacts.

Installed OpenCore Big Sur on an iMac 13,1.

Runs great. My only issues are:

- is it possible to boot to MacOS without showing the disk selection icon? (After a few seconds it boots up as normal). The relevant disk is already selected.
- I noticed a few times, all apps crash and I have to restart. Then everything works as normal.
- sometimes apps launch and show ‘you are launching this app for the first time’ even though it’s not the first time

Apart from that, everything works great :)

Also installed Big Sur on an iMac 12,1.

Once installed run the patch a, rebooted, run Resxtreme (to change the res). All working ok.

- issue: maps crashes searching for Tokyo
