I've the same machine (iMac 14,2) running Big Sur 11.2.3 patched with Micropatcher 0.5.1 and Photo Booth is working fine. My graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2 GB.
Hi, I also upgrade to big sur with patched sur on my imac 2013 and geforce 775M but i'm having issues with metal accelleration in premiere, did you find a workaround ? anything you know about this ?

Um, people are still using “patched Sur”?

It’s 2023! Why are you not using OCLP for a Big Sur install?? That should work great, yes no?

Just installed big sur with patched sur
I am looking at going down this route for my MP31 but a bit confused about Patched Sur.

Post 1 seems to suggest I need to have installed Catalina to use this. Is my understanding correct?

Emmm….. I think that most people on this website are using OCLP to install big sur…. Not sure what kind of support you can get here for patched sur.

As I asked someone that had just used it, I would assume some would have an idea.
That is ignoring those that would know about this from the earlier days.

Thanks for your post but you are still talking about the OCLP and have not shed any light on my ACTUAL question about Patched Sur.

I don't need information about the OCLP and have no issues with using Opencore or with installing Big Sur via OpenCore, with or without the help of OCLP.

You have been answering a different question to what was asked, most likely with good intentions but if you do not know the answer to my question about Patched Sur, which is what I am interested in for my own reasons, perhaps best leave things to someone that might know the answer to what I actually asked about ... which has nothing to do with the OCLP.

Thanks again.

I have deleted my post above.
You should have kept it as could have been useful to someone else.
Anyway, thanks again for your input. Was just not what I was looking for.
I suppose I would just go ahead and figure the Patched Sur Catalina requirement thing out myself.

In the first post on this thread, there is no mention of patched sur. Only OCLP.

I’ve been following this thread since its inception in 2020. I’m not sure if I’ve seen any conversation here about patched sur, at least in the last year…..Sorry. You are, of course, free to ask, but the discussion on this thread since 2020 has been at least 95% connected to OCLP—not patched sur. This is the first mention of patched sur that I think I’ve seen here in the last year.

Saying there is no mention of Patched Sur on the first page is false and saying this is the first you have seen in a year is similarly false as you responded to the person that posted about this a few days ago to whom my query was directly addressed to in response btw.

Regardless, if you don't know the answer to my query, you can just keep quiet. There is no need to keep banging on about some other item which I have made clear I do not need information about.

LOL…….errr….. what I mean is, until this recent batch of patched sur questions showed up , I don’t remember Anyone posting in the last year or so about patched sur.

Perhaps I missed it, but in the first post of this thread (not the first page), I don’t see much discussion or even mention of patched sur…… Does anyone know, is patched sur even maintained anymore? I think that I remember reading somewhere that it’s no longer supported or maintained. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

There it is!
Patched Sur is listed as a retired option for Big Sur Installations by the original poster, wherein the development was “put on hold” over a year ago (this is from the first post).

it’s listed under the ” just history now” section.

So for those who posted above, commenting that they are struggling with their patched Sur installations, changing to OCLP will probably make things much easier.

there
Big Sur 11.7.4 is OUT!
Reminder: Fire Up the Post Installation Patch!
I think last months update covers this one, since they are Beta people
the proof is my MBP'12 worked better after that January OCLP upgrade.

my scenario is:
I can do all this successfully
but don't understand the tech jargon.

Hello I've got a Problem with my Macbook Pro7.1 (16GB Ram, 1TB SSD). Most of the Time (99%) i use it in Clamshell Mode, connected to a HP Display (HP27vx 1920x1080). Everytime i update my Mac, the HP Display is found and i could use it in clamshell mode, but of course i've got no Graphic acceleration. When i run the Post Install patches it Installs Nvidia Tesla drivers. After that, i've got acceleration, but the display is not found in settings (but the display works). When i synchronize i get a very bad resolution (1080). When i use it as a second display, resolution is fine (1920x1080) on the HP display, but clamshell mode doen't work like that (because the HP Display shows only 1/2, the other 1/2 is on the integrated Display). Before Big Sur i used Catalina on this mac (dosdude). On Catalina there was no Problem with the Display in clamshell mode. Everything else works perfect on my Mac with Big Sur, what can i do to solve this Problem? Sorry for my bad english, not a native speaker. Thanks!
